Suns fire Porter
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3910443
Now, I know this isn't directly Warriors related, but the article quotes Amare as saying:
"I think Alvin is a great players' coach," Suns forward/center Amare Stoudemire said after Sunday's All-Star Game in Phoenix. "He gets along with his players well. Of course, he'll have a great game plan from a basketball standpoint. I think it will be somewhat up-tempo."
I, for one, think this pretty much means that Amare isn't getting traded. You don't hire a new coach, only to get rid of one of your stars. I assume they'll try to make it work with what they've got and make a trade only if it's an offer they can't refuse.
Although, they haven't exactly committed to a coach for the long term, so they could just say "screw this, let's get rid of Amare too!" I don't see it happening.
I think Porter was likely much of what bothered Amare in the first place with his defense first attitude and the way he molded the offense more around Shaq than Amare. He's a great player, and he's by far the youngest of their stars. He's the guy you build a team around, not Shaq, and to a lesser extent, not Nash. I think Kerr was looking at it like "Either Amare or Porter have to go. Amare doesn't fit the offense, so either he's a big trade chip or we've got to change the offense." They made it known that they'd be willing to move Amare for the right price, they didn't get a price they liked, and that made their decision. What's your take?

This sucks
I’m one of the few people in this world still thinking there’s a possibility for the playoffs, and Phoenix is one of the teams we’re trying to catch. If we kept winning and Phoenix was losing most of the time, anything would be possible. Now that Porter is gone, they’re probably not going to lose nearly as much.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but we’re over 10 games out of 9th place right now. It ain’t gonna happen. Better luck next year.

I don't care what you or anyone else says
Yes, we’re on hella thin ice, but until we’re completely gone, I’m still giving the Warriors a shot. Especially with SUns and Jazz currently slumping. You never know what other teams can fall. Of course we have to put together a fat streak, but like i said, i’m still cheering them on to do so. And if not, oh well, it’d be all about cheering for us to play spoilers against other teams.

who cares if we make the playoffs
I dont think we can make the playaoffs, but even if we did, this isn’t a team that can make it out of the 1st round. The warriors have been playing pretty well lately, but lets not get all optimistic about playing well in oracle. I’ll be more impressed when we actually start pulling off some road wins against teams over .500

driving to work this morning, in Dallas TX
There was a rumor that shaq is going to the mavs…?
"They can trade me," Bonds said. "I don't think they will, though. It's not like I want to be traded, man. I'm a Giant. I'm stuck here till the end."

I don't know why they wouldn't just wait til the offseason to trade amare in the first place...
maybe they figure they can get more at the deadline

Yeah, I’d think the Amare window has probably closed by now. The longer they looked at it, the longer they had to realize that trading Stoudemire is probably not that good of an idea. I’m guessing Nash, Amare and Shaq are all still Suns at season’s end.

no dice
Shaq is gone next year and probably Nash too, unless they grab abother PG and play Nash way less. Amare and Barbosa are not going anywhere now that Porter is out. They may have underachieved this year, but they are the building blocks for another team with similar qualities.

Seriously
Nash needs to run back D’Antoini so he can be relevant again. I’m sure Nash will take the MLE to play with LeBron & D’Antoni in NYC if he doesn’t get offered $40M somewhere.

r u serious?
it’s hard to tell sometimes. but if u are serious, i’ll just say that the exact same thing that happened to porter in phoenix would happen here

Except even worse
because the Suns have more talent than us.

nellie's a loser
but even i don’t believe porter is a better coach—at least right now (and if he stays sober).
other than lenny wilkins, has there been a successful coach who was a good point guard as a player?? think of thomas, magic, skiles (not a horrible coach, but not that good). same can be said of centers—cowens, lanier.
maybe only off-guards and forwards can be good players-turned-coaches—bird, sloan, jackson, reilly, scott.

ha
it seems like a lot of your posts lately are starting with “but…….” How long til you just drop the tired blame Nellie act altogether?

Then we’ll see how committed he is? It takes guts to stick with what you know is right!
Now wheres the rubbers? Whose got the rubbers?
I noticed there's so many of them
and there's really not that many of us.

oh I dont question his commitment to the cause. I think his opinions about Nellie and the necessary direction for the team are odd and sometimes nonsensical, but I dont question his commitment.

nellie's a loser
and the truth is never “tired”. as long as that lying, blackmailing, fat, lazy, incompetent, drunk continues to coach anywhere off the islands, i will be there to harass and harangue him.
unfortunately, the truth is anathema to your existence, so you cannot understand.

Seriously Mr. Cuban, that is quite enough
Don’t you have your own basketball team to screw up? Don’t you have some stocks to trade? Why are you wasting your time on a stupid Warriors blog over something that happened years ago?

We're not going to make play offs this year, people.
I don’t mean to be pessimistic here, but it’s just not going to happen.
Let’s wait for next year. Just pray or (beg) that Monta would stay off a moped this time.
Hello people.

The Suns are a weird organization as well. They fire D’Antoni to “focus on defense” and when that didn’t work, they go back to Run n Gun. They should’ve just kept D’Antoni in the first place
WARRIORS BASKETBALL!!! Patiently waiting for a title...I may be waiting for a long time...
