Jamal Crawford
Since Jamal Crawford has come to Oakland, many people have hated on him. At the beggining I told you guys to give him some time in the system. Obviously he played well tonight, but he has been playing well for the past few weeks. The thing about Jamal is that he is a scorer, but he is asked to play point guard. Naturally, he has been playing unselfish and is trying to create for other players. I just don't think it is fair when sometimes he'll have like 2 points in the 3rd quarter, and he's only taken 5 or 6 shots while Jackson and Monta have taken 1close to 20 shots. I am a big fan of Crawford, and have been since his Michigan days to his days in Chicago and New York. If he opts out, so be it but I wish that he would stay in Oakland because he would definitely be an asset to this team in the future.
As for his defense, he isn't very good but he is making progress. You can see that he is trying and is constantly looking at the bench to Sidney Moncrief and Keith Smart for defensive tips throughout the game. I still don't think Jamal has reached his peak yet on this team, but given the time he will.
Also, another thing is its hard to play starting point guard when you don't have a consistent group of healthy guys. When Carwford first came, Jackson and Monta was hurt. Jackson came back, Wright, and Belinelli got hurt. Now Biedrins and Azubuike. Maggette has been hurt too. Along the way, I'm probably missing others guys as well.
My point is, I hope Crawford stays and I hope that I maybe changed all you Crawford hater's opinions about him. He is probably the most talented player on the team. If not whatever, let me know what you guys think.

I like him too... a lot... but
Lets really face the facts. The Warriors wouldn’t be worse without him. He’s not needed on this team. We have scorers and shooters, and plenty of them.
His salary would be better spent on some size.
I hope he opts out.
exactly
its not like he’s the worst player in the world, he’s simply not really a factor in our success. For $9 mill or whatever he’s getting, he can’t just be a meh player. We need to trade our meh players for someone who can actually have an impact on our W/L next season, and hopefully into the playoffs.
What I want to know is...
Where has THIS gone
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGqZnBmMkuc
and how can we get it back? Crawford needs to make stronger moves to the basket, instead of contorting for awkward finishes.
Crab dribble....
80% of those moves are the “Crab Dribble” that LeBron was whining about when he was called for a travel a few months ago. Where has those moves gone? I’d blame the refs for that. The more pressing question is: why does Jamal kill our fast breaks by slowing the ball down?
A Sonics fan without a team.. Though I'm auditioning GS Warriors this season.
haha that's the crab dribble?
I went to great pains to add that one to my toolkit. Though I did think it was odd that you could do two jump stops in a row.
yeah,
the Jamal we see in that video is a far cry from the Warriors Jamal. Our JC still has the fancy ball handling moves, but he usually does them in mid court and at the 3 pt line. Why can’t he drive into traffic and do that? Why does he slow down our offense so much??
Is that travel?
I can’t really tell. he does a jumpstop but the behind the back thing throws me off. Is that actually travel or just a really good move?

i dont hate
would rather have marco instead of him
J-Rich and Matt Barnes will always be missed
I'd rather have baron.. The Clips may take Craw B/C he can opt out.. and he makes less than BD either way
that is the worst idea ever
We will probably need to be patient and let this season play out.

maybe some of you?
What are you talking about? All the ladies love me lolololol
I was one of those Jamal haters...
And I have to say I hate him even more now. Well, hate’s a strong word. I almost feel bad blaming him for his defense because he’s so terrible. It’s like he was born sans any defensive instincts whatsoever. On offense I think he is a fairly talented ball handler with a streaky outside shot and good quickness – reminds me of Baron, actually. And like Baron, he tends to rely on his jumper even when it’s clearly not his night. If he just converted 5 or 6 of those into layups or plays at the rim, I think he’d be a somewhat valuable player. If his shot is on early, then obviously he should shoot a relatively higher percentage of jumpers. But why make your streakiest asset the basis for your entire game?
I don’t hate him, he just isn’t part of our future. He is going to be gone after he opts out. I hope we do not resign him. We got Morrow/Belinelli still. They need PT.
Opt Out
I don’t know Crawford’s contract situation… But if I were his agent (in this economy), I wouldn’t recommend opting out of his contract.

Fairly talented ball handler?
He has juked every defender out of their shoes at some point this year!
He is an awesome ball handler, but sucks on defense and is a poor point guard for our system.
The only thing I like about him that Marco doesnt bring is the leadership/presence. He is always communicating with the team and coaches in a mature way during the game. I have no idea if what he is saying makes any sense viewing from a mile away, but he has a real veteran presence. I think he would be a great bench player.

I love Crawford
He’s just very inconsistent and very weak on defense. But when he gets hot, yall better watch out because this fool becomes unconscious and he can put up points fast. I’d love to see him use his handling ability to get to the hoop more instead of settling for shots. I wanna see him become tougher both on D and offense.

i've been pleased
with how unselfish he’s been, i thought he would have had more of a shoot first mentality. but he’s mind-numbingly inconsistant, and he can’t defend for anything
Rate him highly....
As I mentioned elsewhere….he can break the ankles of any player in the league with his handles as that long haired eastern block hippy on the Lakers found out last night!
That moment was pure class, watching him then have to step three paces back from Crawford…brilliant!
Right now I would rather see Crawford and Marco on the court as our main backcourt with Ellis and Morrow filling in to rest the first two. Ellis needs more time to work on his game which frankly sucks at the moment.
As to the constant BD references….. He’s fat, he’s past it, he’s injury prone and frankly he made his bed in LA, now he can lay in it!
Crawford IS getting much better on Defense…he was key in several turnovers last night and as I said elsewhere, its a sad day to see him making more effort on D than Ellis who seems to pick and choose currently when he plays D!

stop hating on maggette. If we had
marco
monta
jackson
wright/randolph
biedrins
sixth man maggette
maggette helps this team alot but not when he plays the 4
that lineup is almost perfect
I’d start Buike over Belli. Belli is a good backup ballhandler and creater. I like the idea of having at lest Buike or Maggette on the court at all times. Maggette is the 6th man of the year next year.
maggette helps this team alot but not when he plays the 4
you said it brother! if Nelly is gonna go small, I’d rather see him go small with Jack at the 4 and buike at the 3 while Monta/Crawford switch on the 1’s and 2’s (Go DJ!)

im getting frustrated with him
he gave up the back braking 3s to ariza and monta shoulve had more opputunities to shoot and handle the ball.if we woulve used him more we wouldve beaten l.a. i feel like monta isnt getting involved in the offense..where are the plays that we set up for monta cutting?or the inbounds alley oop?i want a pg whos metality is
1.pass
2.defense
3.pass
4.defense
5.shoot
its hard to find players like that but its what i want…..im throwing a name out there.RUBIO!!!lets get some luck an hope he enters the draft and i hope were lucky enough no matter what our percentage of winning is that we get the #2 pick
Monta IMO...was a prime reason why we lost to LA...
Nothing to do with Crawford. Monta had a REALLY bad game last night. Unfortunately our coch is too bloody blind sometimes to realise that if soemone is having a cold night…bench them.
Both Monta and jackson need to ride the pine halfway through the 4th quarter, we might just have then had a chance to beat LA. If we had run;
Crawford
Marco
Morrow
Turiaf
Randolph
at the moment Ariza hit those 3’s…I think we win the game. They simply could not handle our high hustle youngsters. You could see Kobe getting frustrated with the constant hustle the rookies put on him.
A real shame…also I think last night showed how truly key, K-Buike has become to this team. He just quietly gets on with the job, but is a key part of this team.

im just sayin
id like to see monta more involved cuz his jumper was falling and you must be crazy if you think nellie is putting in morrow
Monta's shot was terrible...
He made a couple of shots made missed a huge amount of “sitters” that he should have drained!
As to Nellie not playing Morrow??? Do you know something that we dont, as no one else understands why this kid is suddenly riding the pine. If you know anything about basketball, I encourage you to watch Morrow’s shot when e is warming up, it is by far the most natural shot on our team. It’s a real shame he is not getting to display that when players like Jack or Monta are having a bad night, which they were.

i know an i want him to play but it just wont happen
nellie wont play him for some reason.its either he is just behind to many players like buike monta jc and those are all heavy minute guys
i don't think monta was the reason we lost. i think ariza is the reason they won. monta didn't have a good game but he also wasn't horrible
he shot 7-18 with 5ast and 2to’s. there’s nothing good about it, but nothing bad either

JC played a hell of a game
He started out on fire and people stopped giving him the ball! Monta’s shot in the first half was pretty well but the second half he held the ball and didn’t really make any plays. What point guard do we have on the roster that can do what your asking for? NOT ONE! There is not one guard that thinks like what you want. And the back breaking threes came as Craw was trying to help out Jax on Kobe. Who would you rather force beat you? Kobe or Ariza? The main reason we lost was because we were tired and the lack of big men. The Lakers came back with the iso’s we did the fourth quarter and the pick and roll of the Lakers. We just didn’t have enough big bodies to contain the Lakers when they made their comeback.
Be yourself, because everybody else has been taken.

You know what really grinds my gears?
Remember those two back-to-back wide open 3’s by Trevor Ariza in the final minutes of the Laker game? Jamal Crawford was (supposed to be) guarding him.
On both of them?
If Crawford played defense once every 3 defensive trips, I would be happy.
We will probably need to be patient and let this season play out.

Since the We Believe days
We recruited alot of LA fans, and as a result this board has been buried in posts with trade trade trade trade trade… which is LA lingo.
I am just waiting for them to win the Championship so these losers can leave here and go to Lakers’ forums and talk about who is better: Tragic Johnson, Kareem or the fact that they had the #1 pick in the draft with Kareem on their team lol
if crawford does opt out....
thats 10 mil off cap.. we could sign a PG and a PF, or more likely 1 a legit signing (odom/wallace type), and other mid level exception.
I think chances r slim he’ll opt out because of economy, teams wont give him close to what he has remaining…. still if he’s set on going to a winner, he could easily get a midlevel exception as a bench supersub(cleveland, san antonio, orlando would probably all jump him)
I like crawford, but I can think of players better suited for warriors if he DOES opt out. Bibby for 1 wouldnt be a bad signing, or odom or rasheed wallace or even shawn marion and signing a midlevel pg (say ramond felton or andre miller) + drafting 1
it’s something to think about. If crawford does not opt out, we can’t sign more than a midlevel exception play…
i know i’m going tooo deep into it but….
felton/marco
monta
jack
odom
biedrins
or if randolph develops well to end of season….
bibby
monta
jack
randolph
biedrins
+ all our bench players (maggette, marco, kelenna, turiaf)
both seem like better TEAMS than current lineup
my friend worked at Cheesecake factory in Sactown.
She served Mike Bibby. She said he was an a-hole.
haha
used to to ucDavis, been there. Bibby used to live around Davis, friend say him at quiznos more than once…. loved the footlong sub!
asshole or not, he is the best pg on the market, and would fit our style of play. Granted he’s undersized and with monta thats not best….but kings went far w/ him and bobby jackson together alot of time in backcourt….and until deron williams realized utah sucks or chris paul realized he’ll never win in cash cutting new orleans….don’t see any other pg options
Did you see Tyson get sent back from a failed physical?
I’d say that’s not cash cutting, that’s “trying to pull the wool over the head of the new guy”.
