Lamar Odom had NO class during last night's game

In what was a very disappointing game last night (don't get me wrong - we played well enough to win but fell short because of some lazy perimeter defense), one things marred my night more than anything else.

Lamar Odom.

It wasn't the technical foul from the bench but rather his attitude after Anthony Randolph went for a rebound in the 3rd quarter and Odom "deliberately" pushed Randolph off his back (possibly to get him off, but it looked like he really wanted him off HARD). In a sport full of no-class acts, Odom had NO intent to indicate he wanted to help Randolph up or even talk to him after the incident.

Randolph had to come out of the game during that time and changed our team's ferocity mid-quarter. To me, this small thing was enough to doom the Warriors from maximizing on a 12-point lead and take away a TON of defensive rebounds, ones that even Turiaf couldn't handle by himself. Are we getting too lazy? Where's J-Rich/B-Diddy's rebounding when you need it BADLY?

First thing's first: Odom's was a complete jerk last night and was an indication of how sports today have truly changed since the mid-80's.

Just a thought to end my birthday night, which ended with a Warriors loss yesterday.

I dont really have an issue with the over the back play. I mean, Randolph did jump right on his back, I probably wouldve done the same in his position.

i wanted to sock Jack too! for picking up that technical and jumping up and down like a little child when he doesn’t get what he wants! I absolutely hate it when he stands around complaining while the opposition runs the ball down the floor and he leaves his team mates to dry! it really grinds my gears! haha

It would be one thing...

If Jax was legitamitely fouled and then complained. But after every miss or mistake he makes he cries to the ref. So when he does get hammered no one bothers him any attention. He’s like the boy who cried wolf.

I agree

Lamar Odom was a punk last night. I felt like sockin that mother F*ck@!! He pissed me off at the end of the game when he could have just dribbled out the clock. Instead he drove hard and made a layup. I wanted to bank that fool!! Then on top of that, Kobe started playing hella aggressive D on Marco as Marco was just going to let the clock expire and instead Marco said F**k it, i’m gonna score one last time. I’m hella happy he did that! F**k Trevor Ariza, Josh Powell and Sasha Vujabitch!! Whatever though, I hate the Lakers and even worse I hate that we have so many Laker fans in the Bay Area!!

So many Faker fans here in the Bay Area and I bet about 50% of them don’t even know who the Lakers’ bench are… all they know is Kobe Kobe Kobe.

Anyhoo, Montaboss to answer your question… I’m at EVERY Warrior game (Season Ticket Holder). I’m in Section 208, Row DS, Seats 15-16. I need my disabled section; I don’t pay much for the seats and can stand and scream as much as I want without making the viewing experience limiting for those behind me.

Stop by my seats and say HI whenever you’re in the area (I always have the ALMEDA jersey on). BritWarriorGSW stopped by the other day… good to see ya lad!

You gotta understand that players don’t like other players being so out of control. The way Randolf is playing will get someone hurt, and they don’t need that. There’s enough chance of injury when everyone plays under control . If everyone was as careless as Randolf the game would deteriorate into a free for all. Rudolf just needs to calm down and play like a man instead of a spoiled kid and he’ll be fine. Odom’s been around long enough to know what he’s doing.

Now wheres the rubbers? Whose got the rubbers?
I noticed there's so many of them

AR and control

There is some truth to that. I rather would have had odom push him off and then tell the kid that he is going to hurt someone. I hope nellie or beans or turiaf talk to him about that as well.

seriously?

you cant possibly say that odom was justified when he did that….I understand that it was percieved as out of control, but theres been plenty of times in the NBA when someone comes crashing over the back of another player and both players somehow find a gentler way to end the collision. Odom instead found a way to plant his feet and push randolph off as hard as he could….he sent the guy flying an extra 2 or 3 feet…how can you sit there and type that it was Randolph who was out of control. If anything, Odom’s punk attitude and attempt to throw randolph into the stands had more potential of injuring a player than Randolph’s over the back did. You’re right though, Odom’s been around long enough to know what he’s doing. Just another example of the league’s Laker Love

by rtgunn on Feb 19, 2009 2:34 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

I don’t see that as being classless. When you are in the heat of the moment and your opponent jumps on your back, your going to want to shake them off. I’m just glad Randolph didn’t break his arm

by bushido on Feb 19, 2009 10:28 AM PST reply actions   0 recs

...

I though Odom could’ve gotten his 2nd T on two different occasions last nite, and I really wish he did because he was being a punk. There was one play where the Lakers were making a run and the Lakers were able to beat the Warriors press and Odom ended up getting an open dunk. He slammed it in pretty hard and juked himself back up for the extra effect (usually warranting a T). What sucked even more is that someone (forgot if it was Monta or Crawford) did a lazy weak swipe and got called for the foul too.

The 2nd time was when Randolph went up for the rebound and ended up landing on Odom’s back. Odom did not have to push him off THAT hard. It’s obvious his intent was to throw him off as hard as he could. I can see how that would not be called a technical though.

One thing that I really liked about Randolph last night is that he did not let Odom intimidate him or let his anger towards Odom get to him. Odom was talking smack to Randolph in the 1st quarter already after Randolph was able to sneak in that putback dunk early in the game. Even after he got thrown off like he was riding a mechanical bull, Randolph kept playing hard and kept his cool.

by bObaBaLLa on Feb 19, 2009 10:29 AM PST reply actions   0 recs

Odom was a punk

Agree with your comment about the dunk. He didnt slap the backboard like Harrington a few nights ago, but he did do a pull up which is an automatic technical.

Good point on Randolph being a little out of control. He also elbowed JAX in the forehead last night going for a rebound. On tv he looked out of control all night despite showing some restraint/maturity.

Randolph really needed 4 years of college. I hate that we have to take on the immaturity in order to harness the raw talent.

Lakers Suck

They showed no class for sure.

1. Odom – Randolph situation
2. Lakers score at the end for no reason
3. Kobe still plays hard defense on Belinelli when the W’s weren’t even trying
4. Kobe throws the ball in the air before the buzzer sounds

No class or sportsmanship from the Lakers, cause they suck!

Lakers are the team I hate most in all of sports

Lots of people can’t understand why. I can write a whole novel about why I do. Props to all of you true Warrior fans who hate the Lakers. Other Warrior “fans” use the excuse “Keep it West Coast” to cheer for the Lakers in the playoffs.

my favorite moment in basketball history was a situation that happened against the lakers in the 90's

dann fortson was getting pissed at the lakers so he pushed rick fox. rick fox gets up in fortson’s face, only to see that fortson was equally pissed and had 40 more lbs of muscle on him. rick fox quickly proceeded to running behind shaq, and pretending to be held back by shaq.

thats part of the game pretty much perfectly explains the lakers. a bunch of pansies, with a touch arrogance and ego

Does anyone remember...

That game that “The Birdman” jumped over Dunleavy’s back like that twice in one game a few years ago. One time he fell right on his head, and for a second I thought the guy broke his neck.

I really do think that Odom was frustrated by Randolph enjoying that first put-back dunk a little too much (in his opinion). I can understand his frustration from AR being out of control like Skeptic said (and I think that was a big factor), but I think it was a build up from the entire game. I don’t think he enjoyed that game at all.

Thing 2

I hate Odom's game and I get a 'loser' vibe from him but,

all accounts of him are that he is a great guy in the locker room and good in the community. AR was a little out of control during the game and Odom got fustrated, but it seemed like they were cool at the end of the game.

Next Thread….

We will probably need to be patient and let this season play out.

No Class?

Randolph was playing out of his mind last night. More than anything he hustled more than any Warrior out there. Odom got two quick fouls and was bitter. Randolph was around the ball on every rebound, which made Odom more discouraged. When Odom clearly had position, grabbed the ball with two hands and had Randolph draped over his back for an over the back foul, I don’t think in any way Odom showed “No class” or “Thug” actions and that’s coming from a huge Dubs fan who can’t stand the Fakers.

People, come on, if any of you who have played hoops in your life competitively can sit there and say Odom was classless and a thug for what happened, then you were the guy on the playground calling a foul on every play while everyone else on the court agrees your a whiney pu**y. Odom did nothing wrong. In fact, didn’t Randolph get called for an over the back foul? If you have a guy who’s OOC (out of control) as we used to say and he’s draped all over you on a rebound, then give him a little “body” so he understands that if you come into my space all OOC, then there will be a repercussion.

First thing’s first: Odom’s was a complete jerk last night and was an indication of how sports today have truly changed since the mid-80’s.

Thats hilarious. The mid 1980’s and early 1990’s Celtics and Pistons would all be fined, suspended and kicked out of the current NBA for the stuff they pulled. Does the Brawl at the Palace of Auburn Hills, Michael Vick or Mello’s NY moment reep class? Hmm…

Just figuring this out?

Lamar Odom is the NBA’s greatest bust ever. NO one has ever been a bigger bust than that man.

I mean atleast the other busts have the DECENCY to come in, SUCK IT UP, and get cut.

Lamar? Oh heck no. He will come in, show you something you’ve never seen, make you drool all over the court. Then once you sign him, he will pull up tapes of Brian Cardinal and Luc Longley and play mediocore average basketball…..

With that said, I am not surprised that he is a PUNK on the floor. Oh and Randolph scares the bajeesus out of me on the floor. Its like a gigantic stick figure waiting to get snapped….

by sjboy on Feb 20, 2009 8:10 AM PST reply actions   0 recs

you dont

put up career averages of 15 pts/9 boards/4 assists/1 stl/1 blk with a ton of mediocre play. The guy is very very good player. He may not have lived up to his potential, but thats just because the guy is quite possibly the most skilled 6-10 guy in the NBA. Just because he hasnt quite fulfilled expectations doesnt mean he’s a bust by any means.

Fine and Punk Ass Bay Area Laker Fans

I don’t know how the league didn’t fine Odom for this. I understand it was Randolph who caused the collision and therefore the foul, but Odom displayed unsportsmanlike actions with that toss. Not cool. I read some comments below about players not liking others who play out of control, but Odom deliberately tossed Randolph in a dangerous way and should be reprimanded despite how annoyed he might have been at the time.

Every game I go to, we try to drown out the opposing fans when they start chanting for the away team. The game against the Lakers was difficult, though. It’s almost like half the season ticket holders in the lower bowl decided to sell their tickets to passive fans or even worse, to those purple and gold wearing dipshits. The Lakers fans are ridiculously annoying and if only I wouldn’t get cuffed for defending my turf, I’d drop all those busters all night long. There is nothing worse than a Laker fan except a Laker fan living in the Bay Area. Chanting “M.V.P.” in our house…you should have been curb checked walking to your car.
