RealGM:Nellie thinks we're set, Baron offered from Clips...
First off, here's the link...

What do you guys think? With Randolphs recent insert into our rotation after Biendrins went down, I think the kid has shown that he could play? I've been a big proponent of our most recent 1st rounder, and I think with a little smoothing of the edges, we could have something special.
As for the BD to the Bay article, I'm not sure what it would take. But if it could comprise of some smalls, and maintain most of our bigs, I don't see why we would do that. Cap allowing of course. The interesting thing is that the Clips have a surplus of bigs at this point, so I'm not sure they'd be seekin that in return. This could be interesting.

i dont want baron
he’s proving in la how unprofessional he is…. he’d make us better today but in 2 years, monta-marco could be a formitable backcourt w/ mags off bench…..
i dont see baron ever taking a bench role for ‘good of team’ let alone embracing it like maggette

i like how everyone is hating on baron
when just last year, when he was playing for US, how much they loved him…
baron and the clipps are just a bad fit, like brands move.
certain players are much more motivated when they fit in a system, and baron is one of them.

Contract Year
He was playing for a contract last year – question is, now that he has long term money, will he care here?

its hard to know
but id rather take that risk…we know what we will get from maggs and mwill…maggs has been great off the bench but i think he is a poor defender and offensively he is a black hole for passing and for how much we, pay…id rather have the chance at a quality PG, which is really a position that we are missing in our roster (belli is decent, but not good enough to be a starter for a playoff bound team)

not necessarily hating
just stating that we are developing the young talent that we couldn’t before.
now if the clips took kurz for him, than that’d be another matter. :)

I hated him last year too.
He’s stunk for a long time. Terrible shooter who hogs all the shots. He drags down the team shooting percentage on any team he’s on. GS needs a ball handler, but they can do WAY better than Baron at this point. Finding a guy who can take care of the ball isn’t that hard.

We might have won the lakers game
if we had beans and buike – buike can defend kobe, and would have let sjax rest more I believe. We are improving, and this is without monta being 100%.

Black hole no more
Since Maggs got healthy and started coming off the bench – the black hole issue has gone away. Not saying he’s distributing the ball like a PG, but he’s working into the flow of the game better. As a 6th man, his purpose is to come in and put the ball in the basket or get to the line.
As a starter, his style interfered with the rest of the team getting into a flow. Off the bench, he works into an established flow.
I wouldn’t trade for Baron if the cost was Maggette.
I WOULD trade for Baron if the cost was our Crawford + Wright

Yes and no.........
Firstly I also disagree with people’s views on Maggs….
Personally I think he has made huge efforts to increase his D and I love his play off the bench where he drives a lot. That causes confusion and opens the court for other shooters. I think Maggs has really become a key part of this team and a great 6th man.
Baron……has had his day. He chose to walk away and I just could not welcome the guy back. He dumped us in the crap and wanted to be “HOME”, well suck it up fella…you got what you wanted. LA lifestyle, a fat pay cheque oh yeah…and a few extra pounds around ya middle!
Here’s the NO……
I am also getting fed up with the Crawford trade talks…..This guy can break the ankles of any player he goes up against. Several times last night a player would get up close in his face only to have to then step away when JC did a couple of through the legs and left them completely flat footed. We all know he can shoot and I dont care what anyone is saying….He defense is improving….
I would like us to get rid of Marcus Williams, Rob Kurz, Davidson, possibly CJ and even possibly BWright…. and keep the rest.

Crawford
Hey… I like Crawford also! But, the team needs a true PG and Baron and Nellie really work well together. I suggest the Crawford trade because there’s not enough room for him and Monta – both 2 guards in the body of point guards. I like Monta because he doesn’t shy from contact – Jamal does.
Though, I’ll add…i’ve NEVER seen someone get fouled on 3’s more than Jamal – it’s amazing.
Ultimately, we’re light at the 1 and 4. We’re LOADED at the 2 and 3 – so people gotta go.
To me, the core group for next season are:
- Ellis
- Jackson
- Randolph
- Maggette
- Biedrins
- Belinelli
- Morrow
- Buike
- Turiaf
- PG via trade or FA
- PF via trade or FA
TRADE FODDER:
- Crawford (gotta give something to get something)
- CJ Watson (like him, but Belli is our back up 1 at this point)
- Wright (will never work in Nellie’s system)
- 1st Rounder (like we need to get younger)
CUT-able:
Williams
Kurz
Davidson

Baron fooled us
we got caught up in the decent play while he was here, but he has turned 180 degress around in LA showing that the poor attitude from the Hornets days is his standard operating procedure.
If we bring him back he will eventually sour and turn on us too. I say let him stay in LA and lets move forward in another direction
