Around SBN: Is Adebayor About To Become A Full-Time Spur?

Great. Yet another injury to our already fragile roster.

What do you think about bringing him back in January now?

Do you think we should have traded him?

Do you think we should void his contract?

Do you think we can still make the playoffs?

Do you STILL BELIEVE?

Do you think they should cut him off the roster and pick me up so I can play with my hero Rob Kurz?

Definitely YES to the last one.

I'm not saying we should try to tank...

but is there a reason to go 100% every game now?

by djfivenine on Feb 22, 2009 3:54 PM PST reply actions

Why should this change anything?

The playoffs weren’t a remotely realistic possibility in any case. All this does is make it slightly more likely that we can try 100% and still lose enough games not to completely sabotage our lottery position.

Godspeed, Monta…

Kind of Unbelievable

Considering he looked his best last night since he has returned, makes you wonder a bit.

seriously....

i know man, apparently he was really pissed and left the game early last night. hopefully this isnt the start of another al harrington situation. monta is my favorite player and i would hate to see this happen

kevin garnett is a prick. that is all.

by thebeatlephil on Feb 22, 2009 4:28 PM PST up reply actions

pissed, leaves early...

To me this answers WHY he got pissed and left early. I don’t see this as a conspiracy cover-up fake injury to conceal his frustration. I see a low-level injury making him pop his cork because he wants to come back at full strength more than anybody.

Yo, Monta: I got a couple awesome rehabilitation therapists here in San Francisco I want to introduce you to. Stay off that physical therapy and all the drugs and go the Chinese way. Tui Na. Active Release Therapy. Qi Gong.

Wait, so what happened to Monta?

Was it from last night’s game?

Hello people.

by girltothemax on Feb 22, 2009 4:25 PM PST reply actions

Why should they do anything such as voiding his contract or trading him?

How many players on this team besides Monta have been sidelined due to injuries? How many of them have taken forever to get back in shape and start playing again?

My point is, it’s not just Monta. This whole team is injury prone this season. So why no talks of voiding or trading the other players?

Monta is 23!!! I know he’s been sucking lately, but give him a chance. I don’t want him traded or void his contract at all.

Hello people.

by girltothemax on Feb 22, 2009 4:32 PM PST reply actions

I am a big Monta fan and don't want him traded either...

but there is a difference between Monta and the other injured players.

You said:

It’s because he violated his contract in riding a Moped. That’s where all the drama lies. It is even more of a big deal because we highly relied on him especially when Baron left.

I'm kind of torn

on Monta cause I’m thinking he rushed his comeback instead of acting like Gilbert Arenas and being out the whole season but damn. Hopefully Biedrins is back tomorrow so we’ll only have Wright and Ellis on the bench. I guess CJ Watson and Marco will play more minutes which by last night’s game shouldn’t kill us too bad.

by warriorgirl on Feb 22, 2009 4:35 PM PST reply actions

does this have

anything to do with him being benched?

by Dub4lif3 on Feb 22, 2009 5:02 PM PST reply actions

This means

Marco will have to step it up.

by mosdl on Feb 22, 2009 5:16 PM PST reply actions

This is a good move

I’d rather have a 90-100% Monta playing out there in a week rather than a 70% Monta playing right now (and quite frankly, not doing that well).

by Torukine on Feb 22, 2009 5:35 PM PST reply actions

This is to prevent further injury

and besides, it’s not like we were going anywhere this year so let’s be sure he’s 100% for next season.

and maybe we’ll actually get to see some Morrow

There's a party in my mind.
And I wish that I was there.

by qin on Feb 22, 2009 5:45 PM PST reply actions

by mosdl on Feb 22, 2009 6:17 PM PST up reply actions

Is it me or does it seems like when 1 warrior is ready to come back one gets injured or misses a couple games

but our team has been injured the whole year. i think this team can be a 500 team if at full strength but we need to get there first

by GSW9 on Feb 22, 2009 6:28 PM PST reply actions

"does it seems like when 1 warrior is ready to come back one gets injured or misses a couple games"

Yeah, everyone’s been saying that all season. “So it goes with the Warriors injuries” has been in several injury related articles.

by IQofaWarrior on Feb 22, 2009 6:32 PM PST up reply actions

- In hindsight, he came back too early. Maybe Monta was just trying to prove himself to save his contract.
- We should not trade him. He looked good yesterday, so when Monta’s at 100%, I think he’ll be fine.
- We should not void his contract.
- Playoffs? Hahahahahahaha.
- I believe the Warriors will be able to absorb Monta’s absence. We have enough guys to cover for him.
- Rob Kurz? Sure, 6 more fouls can come in handy, always! … occasionally… rarely… er, who are we talking about again?

We should've suspended him longer.

But I wouldn’t mind voiding him still. I would love an ensuing scenario like this:

In the off-season:
-Expect Clippers to cut Baron. If so, offer him MLE.
-Sign solid role player for 1-Year.
-Draft BPA. Hopefully it will be Brandon Jennings, have him develop under BD and others.

PG: BD
SG: Crawford [Opt Out Clause]
SF: S-Jax
PF: Turiaf
C: Biedrins
6th Man: C-Mag
Youth to Watch: AR, BW, Marco, Jennings/BDPA
Role Players: Watson, A-Mo, Buike, FA Big (Bass, Wilcox, Gooden, Ariza)

2010 Off-Season:

Draft BPA (We’ll probably draft like 20+ x] )
Sign Big Name Free Agent ftmfw

Hasheem "The Dream" Thabeet or Greg Monroe. A Warrior in 09.
With the 6th Pick in the 2009 MLB Draft, the SF Giants pick Donovan Tate.

uhh

What do you think about bringing him back in January now? He was ready… and now he is sore… besides it sounds to be more cautionary than anything and with marco coming back and no sight of the playoffs there is no reason to keep running him out there for 40 mins a game. its all about next season.

Do you think we should have traded him? Should have traded him? To who? For what? and no.

Do you think we should void his contract? umm nope. the guy is young and will be back to himself next season

Do you think we can still make the playoffs? …. uhh what? We are like 16 games below .500.

Do you STILL BELIEVE? The we believe team has been dismantled… but I believe we will make the playoffs next year, if we don’t have as many injuries as this year

Do you think they should cut him off the roster and pick me up so I can play with my hero Rob Kurz? def not.

breach of contract = void

isnt this what its supposed to be?

by VonteegoCummings on Feb 22, 2009 8:33 PM PST reply actions

I'm curious

Why ANYONE would want to void Monta’s contract or trade him is beyond me. Did the coaching staff work with him all these years for him to become an all star on another team? Tell me who would take the place of Monta on this team. NO ONE. Yes we all love Marco and Morrow, but they can’t do it like Monta.

I know it’s frustrating, but it’s just not smart to void his contract. This team is different when he is playing and I wouldn’t doubt it if they lose against the Clippers without Monta. Oh and another thing-this is probably one of the worst draft classes I’ve seen since Michael Olowakandidlkafjdlkn was picked first so I really could care less about tanking to get a good draft pick unless it’s top 3, which ain’t happening…Brandon Jennings=BUST.

by Captain Jack on Feb 22, 2009 9:02 PM PST reply actions

Why ANYONE would want to void Monta’s contract or trade him is beyond me.

It’s cause we got too many two guards and not enough power forwards or point guards. Montay and Crawford are too similiar to make it worth keeping both of them and Montay probably has more trade value than Crawford so that’s why.

if he opts out

it’ll be because he wants to win. No way he’s gonna get 2 years for 20 mil which he’s due. He’d get midlevel from playoff team needing a scorer off bench

by Skeptic con Urquell on Feb 22, 2009 9:57 PM PST up reply actions

Montay and Crawford are too similiar

Too similar? So a mediocre point guard who can’t really handle the ball but has blazing speed and a deadly midrange jumper who can’t shoot a 3 is the same as a crazy ballhandler who gets fouled on threes more than anyone and is very streaky and usually clutch are the similar?

Ohh now I see the similarities…Just because they play the same position does not mean they are similar players, which is my whole point of why we shouldn’t void his contract. Besides, Crawford will opt out so that settles the too many two guards and not enough power forwards problem. Are you saying you’d take Crawford over Ellis?

by Captain Jack on Feb 22, 2009 9:20 PM PST up reply actions

Definitely CRAZY ball handler

just not the good one!

by girltothemax on Feb 22, 2009 9:51 PM PST up reply actions

Point was

that they are not even close to the same player. I’m trying to give examples of two extremes on how they’re so different.

by Captain Jack on Feb 22, 2009 10:23 PM PST up reply actions

Are you saying you’d take Crawford over Ellis?

I would kept Jrich and not have this problem :>)
Now I’d let the market decide, get the best deal for whoever I could move. Hang the players on a pegboard and sort them out and see what the best combination of trade and keep would bring ?

by Skeptic con Urquell on Feb 22, 2009 9:55 PM PST up reply actions

If we had a 2-guard we could hella rely on

I would definitely keep Crawford over Ellis. I’d probably end up paying for it in the future, but hey, almost everything in life is a risk.

What is Happening withthis team injury

I though B Wright is the only Warriors gonna be on injury list. When AB come back tommorow. CJ is and Marco is good replacement for Monta but Ellis is better defender.

by mykelala01 on Feb 22, 2009 11:27 PM PST reply actions

I dont think Ellis

is a better defender than Marco. Monta can’t fight through a screen for the life of him. Watch Marco, he Rambo’s his way through there, lol. He’s a lot more physical on defense than when he came in the league and its paying off. I feel bad, but im glad Marco’s gonna get this extra time. Ellis isnt scoring or passing like Marco can at this point, and I dont think he will until he’s 100%. On second thought, he’ll probably never pass as good as Marco…

Monta

showed his best legs of the year last saturday. I guess they weren’t ready for the performance however cause now he’s out. I liked what I saw though on saturday, we got to see those nice top of the key jumpers we were used to seeing last year. I was sort of relieved, “oh thank goodness monta is FINALLY back.” But now he’s out 1-2 weeks.

Marco is a way better defender than monta…..period.

I have lots of free music on my site if anyone wants it. Just click on my name.

Does anyone else think Monta might not have gotten hurt again

if he wasn’t playing so many minutes a night? That didn’t seem to make sense from a winning perspective (since he clearly was getting winded on the court) or from a health perspective. I wondered at the time why they didn’t ease him in more, and now I’m wondering even more.

Unless it’s all a Rowell plot to show that Monta was damaged goods so he can void him!
