Interesting Baron Article
Check out this article on Baron Davis from Bill Simmons, "The Sports Guy" on ESPN.com. Im a fan of Bill's work, who is speaking as a season ticket holder of the Clippers who has been complaining about Baron since the signing. Interesting read, pretty much backs up, quotes and all, everything we thought and said about Baron Davis from the start. Enjoy

So really it was Elton who got baron over there and then he left him in the dirt
cause baron probably wouldn’t have opted out

he's not going to do anything next year
except sit on the sidelines with injuries.
Why wait until next year for him to do something to better himself and his team? Why not now?
All I can say, I am glad he’s gone.

be careful what you say
The wizards aren’t called the Washington warriors for nothing. They got our best players in Antawn (all-star) and Gilbert (when he aint injured).

The one that emailed him about playing in the Mike Montgomery era?
No, Jack was still in Indiana. Not many Warriors left from 04-06.

Yeah I’m guessing it was JRich. He’s the only one around who would still be close to Baron. Either him or Ellis but I don’t see Monta giving advice to Baron right now.

watch him tear it up next year
and all the baron haters will cry that we didnt trade maggs for him…

The Dude Who Plays With His Heart On His Sleeve....
Great article, sad circumstance. Boom come back!
Dunleavy is a cancer. I agree, it will also eat Eric Gordon alive.

Baron sounds like an idiot
Why sign before Brand? He could have held off a few days.
Why not try to force a trade before the deadline?..what, is this team going to lose morale if they know Baron wants out? How could it get any worse?
Why not be honest and say he doesnt like the way Dunleavy coaches? There is nothing wrong about saying you dont agree with the system and here’s how you would do it. Just dont say something rude like the coach is an idiot
Baron sounds like a victim to me and we knew him as something completely different while he was here….a leader

Why sign before Brand?
We had to sign Maggette and Turiaf before Ellis & Biedrins because of cap issues. I’m sure the same applied for Baron & Brand.

When talking to ESPN, you have to remember they’re going to do whatever it takes to sell clicks/viewers/issues. If you say “I don’t like the way he coaches”, they’ll blow it way out of proportion. Sports media has turned into tabloid journalism. “It is what it is”, and Baron has to dance the dance or get burned by the tabloids.

the writer
is obviously trying to be buddy buddy with BD and has a strong bias and makes Baron the victim and poor baron and all he wanted to do was do it for the kids, etc.. Don’t get me wrong I love Baron, and I do feel bad for him, but could you imagine JRich being in the same situation and feeling sorry for himself, sulking around on the Court.

The writer almost assuredly had a mandate from his management to write an article about Baron Davis
With a specific agenda to get something about what happened with Elton, and try to get a feel for BD. You can’t write that article without a pro-Baron slant. Yes, he glossed over the “WTF, you’re paid gobs of money to play basketball and you can’t even force yourself to try?” aspect. But if he writes that he burns his relationship with Baron for the future and wouldn’t be trusted by any other athlete… it’s the nature of the beast.

I miss Baron
But it’s just time to move on. It’s been time, actually. I would love to have him, but no way in hell would I pay him the money the Clippers are paying him. Jamal Crawford is nowhere near as good as Baron Davis, but from a player’s role on a team’s standpoint, I think he can replace him.

i actually think jamal has more talent than baron
he just for some reason hasnt produced the way he seems like he should be able to…baron plays with a ton of emotion, maybe thats what jamal needs?

Baron plays with too much emotion
He’s like Jackson. If he gets way too pissed, it actually hurts the team. Then come the stupid fouls and technicals.

Are you kidding?
No way is Craw more talented than Baron. When healthy and motivated, Baron is a top 5 PG in the league. Nobody could ever say that about Crawford.

No, that wouldn't have helped...
Crawford has less talent, less potential, less emotion, less intensity. He not better than Baron at anything.

None of those skills have anything to do with being a good PG
They offer peripheral help (it’s good to have a good handle and be a 3pt threat, but not critical). You are a good point guard by being able to distribute and execute and have great vision when you’re handling the ball. Baron has that, Craw not as much.

hes a weaker defender, worse shooter worse playmaker worse court vision and smaller weaker and BDs got just as good handles

trust me
id rather have baron than almost any PG in the league (with exception of about 5 of em)…i was just tryin to say that just lookin at crawford throughout his tenure and at the begginging of his NBA career, he really seemed like the type of player that had the ability to become a top notch PG, too bad it didnt materialize at all :(

Dude I totally feel what you say
I think Crawford can be a lethal offensive pg. I don’t think he can be on the level of Baron, Deron or CP3, but I think he can be hella effective at it for us if that was his full-time roll.
