Trade Morrow?
I have been a fan since the Sleepy Floyd days. In both of Nellie's terms as Coach one thing has always driven me nuts is his disregard for rookies and his propensity to load up the roster with SF/SG only to play journey men picked up from the CBA or DLeague while the players the team has invested 1st round picks rott on the bench only to eventually leave and blossom somewhere else while the team gets little or no compensation for. That said we have a glut of SG/SF. There is no way they are going to get enough minutes even if you call a few of them PGs. With Morrow being a find and the return of Monte, why not trade Morrow and get some value for him? While we are at it why not trade Magette for Staudomire? But that is another post. As much as I like Morrow with the money invested in Jackson, Magette, Ellis and to a smaller degree Azebuke and Randolph I just don't see the value of having him here, letting him go at the end of the year as a free agent for nothing. Can't we call the Bucks, who lost Michael Redd for maybe Charlie Villenueva? Maybe a REAL point guard in the Grizzlies Mike Conolly? Get something for him at least. Given we wasted our first rounder on Marcus Williams without even lettinng him play a decent number of minutes why not try to offset that? Just thinking.
This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

Well, I definitely think Belinelli has a lot more trade value than Morrow, but I do like Belinelli more.

Keep Bellinelli and Morrow
Crawford is the player that needs to go. I like Belli and Morrow over Crawford. Both of them are tougher on D, and have a much better contract (so we could actually keep them long term).
All Crawford does is shoot (sometimes creates).
Morrow is a lights out shooter, better defender/rebounder/contract
Belli can shoot just as well, and playmake just as well. Plus he plays better D.

the difference is
Belinelli and Morrow could actually be traded

The problem with trading Morrow
is you’re not getting much for him in return.
He’s a fan favorite no doubt, but no chance the Grizzlies will trade Mike Conley for him.
I’m a Morrow fanboy but you can’t get carried away thinking you can get that much value for an undrafted 8th man/9th man.

everytime we get a player with a little promise people wan to trade em
And WE know he can be capable of getting pretty good, but as far as the other teams are concerned he’s an undrafted rookie whos had some good games against bad teams. We wont get any thing of greater (or even equal?) value for him

GOOD GOD NO, STOP THESE TRADE THREADS
i can not take ANYONE seriously that butchers peoples names. you STARE at them ALL GAME and you can’t f’ng spell stoudemire??? at least go to espn or something to find out. and no team is going to trade a GOOD, productive, young starting power forward like villanueva for an unproven, undrafted rookie who is good at shooting 3’s. get real.

My bad for the spelling
My bad I was in a rush and didn’t think it was particularly important but will check the spelling in the future. Promise.

You were right the first time. Spelling is next to godliness and godliness is next to nothing.
Now wheres the rubbers? Whose got the rubbers?
I noticed there's so many of them
and there's really not that many of us.

Spelling ain't next to godliness
But it’s damn close to cleanliness. It’s really the cleanliness of the blogosphere. I mean, why bother bathing or showering every day? You can do your job just as well all covered in scuzz, and communicate just as clearly all covered in scuzz, and and be just as good a person inside all covered in scuzz. Yet somehow people treat you better and respect you more and take you more seriously when you’re not all covered in scuzz.

OK Akeelah and the Bee
You obviously knew who I was talking about right? Get over it. Find someone else to channel your feelings of inadequacy on. Moving on, I mention Villenueva because there were rumors the Bucks were looking to trade him. The Bucks do have a need for a SG. I did say “maybe”, using him as a potential asset to trade for. That is all I was saying.

sorry
no excuse for butchering every single name you typed. it’s just poor form.

The Question is
is he restricted or unrestricted after this year, if he’s unrestricted you have to listen to offers because he can just up and leave to the highest bidder and we really don’t have the cap room for him depending on his asking price.

We have a team option
for him next year a little under 800k, after that we get early bird rights and restricted free agency on him.
We will probably need to be patient and let this season play out.

that being the case, we keep him for sure.

So you want to trade morrow because he's not playing?

wait wait hold up
You want to trade morrow for Charlie Villenueva? Morrow is worth absolutely nothing right now, We’ll be lucky if someone gave us a 1st round pick for him.
Anyways why trade Morrow , I like him off the bench he actually produces unlike Rob Kurz.

Doesn't have to be the Bucks
I was only using the Bucks as an example. The W’s are overloaded at SG/SF, I doubt he is going to get much playing time barring injury. That said the real premise of the thread is should we trade him now while we can get something or wait till he completely falls out of the radar, then we might not. Sell high?

Morrow is a better shooter than Watson.
That’s it.

Well, I’ll give you rebounding.
Morrow can’t run the break better than Watson because Morrow isn’t good at handling the ball at all.
Watson’s assist-to-turnover ratio is better by just 0.2, so it’s pretty even.

I think I'm for trading CJ.
Right now, I think he deserves a better home. Nellie is letting ball hog Monta play too much minutes. And currently CJ is the better player. Yes, I said currently.

why not trade maggette for amare?
idk dude why not? it seems reasonable to me.. oh yeah and let’s trade away our best shooter.. great plan..
you are definitely the worst.
by Agent Zero on Feb 7, 2009 7:46 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
wait.......
what? Are you saying we SHOULDNT trade Maggette for Amare. Obviously we couldnt, but are you saying Maggette is our best shooter and we shouldnt deal him for Amare if that deal were possible?

Morrow is very deadly
I see him as a young version of Ray Allen. He pretty much has the same moves except needs to work on his handles and doesn’t have as much speed but can be equally as deadly if you give him playing time and a couple more years. Just imagine if he were on a team like the cavs or lakers.
by bojangles408 on Feb 8, 2009 1:27 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
well if he were on a team like the Lakers or Cavs he may get even less playing time. I like Morrow, but “a young Ray Allen” is a bit of a stretch. Ray Allen has always had an extremely quick release for a sharpshooter, he has always known how to use screens and a motion offense extremely well and he was a shut down defender in his early days, not to mention the fact that he could handle the ball like a PG. Morrow has a very sweet stroke but seems to lack all of these qualities.

He wouldn’t play a single minute

so
Lakers have Kobe, Fisher, Vujajaic taking the 3s.
Celtics have house and allen as knock down shooters.
Championship caliber teams already have 3 point shooters.
