Around SBN: Nevin Shapiro Vows To Bring Down Miami

That was Hillarious

Did anyone find tonights game against the suns pathetic and so funny. I went to the game and applauded when they ejected Nelson. I was laughing so hard. I screamed so loud for randolph and wright to be put in. I watched Jackson play terrible d and ruin our first quarter flow. I was laughing when Shaq dunked over us every time and how he made the shot clock and the backboard shake for a couple of minutes when he dunked the alley oop. Jackson argued the whole game about one call. It was really pathetic. He deserved everything he got. He was on the ref on legitimate calls and he wouldnt let up. He bogged down the offense in the majority of the 2nd and the rest of the 3rd up to his ejection.

Don Nelson refused to play Wright and  Randolph and he chose to have corey maggette as the center for the majority of the 3rd until he got tossed and Keith Smart used some common sense. He ran on the court like a drunk on a legitimate call. He acted like he gave Jackson his support of confidence but wtf, Jackson was out of line. Who is the leader of this team. Stephen or Nelson because Don sucks up to Jackson all the time. Its time for new leadership. Let Monta, Brandan, Randolph be the leaders.

After watching this game, i realized Ronny is a great backup but nowhere near a starter. He is a crowd favorite for his blocks and dunks but while watching the game, he contributes little compared to randolph and wright. Those two are something special. Those two are great rebounders and can dribble it up and initiate the fast break. They get blocks. They are the best 4/5 combo. Unless we are facing shaq or yao, those two need to play because they are both very skilled, fast, rebounders, shot blockers, everything this team needs.

Star-divide

I would be glad to give up Biedrins to get a good point guard because in a year or 2 those kids will be the most skilled, athletic frontline in the game. They will be unstoppable in the fastbreak and they can still rebound. I cant wait because of that and the eventual departure of don nelson.

but hey...at least Monta's game is back!

those jumpers are falling, he’s finishing around the rim again and his quickness looks like it’s back too!

Monta was a -37!

That is not easy to do…unless you play no D. Watching too much Crawfor() perhaps?

by flaaron on Mar 16, 2009 8:26 AM PDT up reply actions

unless you play in a blowout like that

and you have to play with Stephen Jackson on one of the nights he had last night.

i wouldnt trade andris for a PG...

id trade maggs, crawford, cj, kurz, bellineli, jackson, wright, buki, morrow

any of them (in order of how much id wanna trade em)

only people i wouldn’t really trade for anyone (unless it was like one of the top players in the league) for me are andris/ellis/randolph

but personally, i still feel like what we need the most is a new coach and a big, good defense, true PG and run like (in the long run):

1: big PG
2: ellis
3: randolph
4: wright
5: andris

i mean seriously…this setup could be amazing in a few years (maybe even next year?)!

im not too sure which PG fits the best, but personally i wish we had westbrook….maybe we can find someone amazing in the draft? rubio? holiday? teague? curry? idk

i think you missed my thread...

http://www.goldenstateofmind.com/2009/3/15/798159/who-would-you-be-ok-with-t

also, i agree with OP, Beans might be the only legit trading piece we have, and if it took packaging him with CJ/Morrow/Beli/Buike/Maggs/Crawford to get a real PG, then I might do it (depending on WHO the PG is). Wright and Randolph are beasts and will only bulk up and become better players over time.

by FishStix on Mar 15, 2009 10:38 PM PDT up reply actions

i dont think we'll be able to trade for a pg

of equal value to beidrins…by that i mean….if we wanna get someone of equal value (with a package) they wont be players that are tradable imo fo rthe other team….

and if we trade beidrins for a pg of lesser val….i wouldnt be happy with it

id rather just get a PG from the draft and get rid of all the clog we have at the guard spot and trade all the non future players/non starter capable players (ie: cj/crawford/maggs/kurz)

i KNOW theres gotta be a good PG in the draft with a lot of potential, hope we get em!

we are a young team, and if we can get someone that will grow (westbrook type pg) we have a very bright future with: draft pg, ellis, wright, randolph, andris…and belli/buki/morrow/turiaf being an excellent 6th man (btw look at the ages…all 25 or under, 22/23 or under if u dont look at turiaf)

I totally agree:

it doesn’t seem likely that we’d be able to trade any of our bigs for a PG of similar value, I’m strictly speaking in theoreticals. More likely we just draft someone decent for PG, or draft someone tradeable to be packaged with our other players in the logjam for a PG of similar value.

It was eerily quiet in the lower bowl in the first half...

and we sucked tonight. At least I got to see a few things (as a fan of the NBA)… Grant HIll hard dunk after crossing it over circa 1995…Shaq almost tear the basket down circa Magic days…J-Rich dunk circa back to back dunk champion days…

I thought Wright looked solid and I think his offensive moves are much more developed than Randolph’s at this point in their careers. Both deserved more playing time tonight. Also, why is C.J. not getting minutes, especially in a blowout loss like tonight’s game. Good to see Morrow get significant minutes. Jackson is probably out at least 1 game, maybe 2 games for getting 2 technicals tonight as he is passed the limitt??? (so unnecessary)

so hard on steve jack did you see what happened once he was tossed the team completely fell apart. He is our best defender and his numbers have been ridiculous lately and the 2nd technical he got tonight I don’t even know why he got it.

by FeartheBeard4 on Mar 15, 2009 11:05 PM PDT reply actions

Best defender??? What a joke.

Almost every game he gives up at least 10 points for arguing the call while they have a fastbreak.

by buky on Mar 16, 2009 2:52 AM PDT up reply actions   1 recs

sadly

10 points is a bit of an overstatement, but you’re right……and yet FeartheBeard4 is probably also correct-he’s probably our best defender DESPITE the fact that he gives up easy points by not even getting back to that side of the floor about once or twice a game.

andris = untouchable

IMO anyway. he’s our only consistent rebounder.

as much as i like monta, brandon, and randolph, they cannot be the leaders of this team. there’s too much drama circulating monta and brandon and randolph are too young to be the leaders. plus, randolph is too overly emotional.

I love Kelenna David Azubuike! <333

by goldenstatelove on Mar 15, 2009 11:16 PM PDT reply actions

Untouchable?

So you’d turn down a Dwight Howard, LeBron, or Chris Paul offer for Biedrins? I think its incredibly ignorant to think Wright/Randolph will make a good 4/5 combo, and Biedrins certainly isnt expendable, but saying he’s untouchable is a bit extreme. Nobody should be untouchable on a team this bad.

Thing A

by sam23 on Mar 15, 2009 11:47 PM PDT up reply actions   1 recs

Okay...

untouchable might not have been the correct term. But I would rather trade someone else, like Monta, for Howard, LeBron, or CP3.

by your logic nobody should be untouchable in the NBA

you wouldn’t trade lebron for Paul, Kobe, Howard, and Wade.

There is no such thing as an untouchable.

by warriOs on Mar 16, 2009 11:46 AM PDT up reply actions

meh

I’d actually argue that most of those guys ARE untouchable. Obviously you’d trade any one of those 5 for a package involving 2 or more of the others, but in any 1 for 1 deal I think Paul, LeBron, Wade, and Howard are all probably considered totally untouchable by their respective teams

at this point

he is AT LEAST as much of a leader as Wright/Randolph/Monta combined. Start with on court play that has been at least as effective and efficient as that of Wright and Randolph and a willingness to go out and play his role every night, now subtract 1. all the inconsistencies and stupid mistakes those other 3 guys are so prone to making 2. the rumored poor work ethic of Randolph 3. the rumored inflated ego of Monta and 4. an irresponsible offseason mistake that cost the team any slim chance they may have had at competing for a playoff spot and what you get is a better team leader than all those guys put together.

monta isnt mad at the club. brandan is a calming team guy and anthony is a good person who has a lot of emotion

by montadaboss on Mar 15, 2009 11:49 PM PDT reply actions

OR....

-Monta’s ego has grown dramatically since he signed the contract and appears to be pouting at times. I’m not buy Kawakami’s conspiracy theories and none of us really know how he feels about the team or vice versa, but the rumors have to be a bit concerning. Monta may or may not be hurting the overall team chemistry and showing a poor attitude, but no matter what you believe about that he certainly hasn’t displayed any strong leadership qualities in Baron’s absence.
-Wright is simply timid. Sure he’s young and could develop into a Tim Duncan type both in the locker room and on the floor but I’d say the chances of either are extremely slim. While there haven’t been any reports about him having a poor work ethic that I’ve seen or heard, there also havent been any reports of him having been a locker room standout in any way, shape or form since he’s been here or in college. In short; his impact hasn’t been bad on the team’s performance or on the team’s chemistry but it’s nearly as difficult to say he’s been much of a help in those area’s either. Not exactly a guy I’m prepared to dub as a future leader of the franchise.
-Randolph has been rumored to have a poor work ethic. Certainly I don’t profess to have any inside knowledge but the fact that such rumors have existed at least from the day he declared for the draft up until 3 weeks ago at the most have to be a bit concerning. Anointing a 19 year old with those kind of concerns as team leader is ludicrous.

Thing A

by sam23 on Mar 16, 2009 6:11 AM PDT up reply actions

I think AR's work ethic was poor in the beginning because he wanted to play in the games

and he wasn’t. He was mopey and probably a little frustrated. Since then he has practised harder and showing up early for individual workouts he has played more. It is kind of a snowball effect. He is working hard in practice, then gets playing time, which makes him work harder in practice, and so on.

by warriOs on Mar 16, 2009 11:57 AM PDT up reply actions

there is no way monta is hurting the on court chemistry...

Deron Wiliams-Yes
Devin Harris, Rajon Rondo, or Jose Calderon-maybe
Anyone else-probably not (heres where someone totally embarrasses me with an obvious omission)

Lucky for us we can avoid much of the debate as none of those 5 are going to be offered in a swap for Biedrins anytime soon. So essentially hardcore is right..

give up Biedrins to get a good point guard who the other team may consider giving up for Biedrins

And i’d probably be unwilling to take rondo for him too.

by amhd388 on Mar 16, 2009 1:03 PM PDT up reply actions

I’m pretty sure I’d take Rondo, and I’d certainly consider Calderon….but thats why both are in the maybe category. But I dont think either team would take Biedrins for their PG.

Thing A

by sam23 on Mar 16, 2009 5:34 PM PDT up reply actions

Rondo is overrated. It helps his numbers that he plays with 3 ligitimate stars.

Calderon is putting up good numbers, but it won’t make us any better next year. I prefer to get a point in the draft this year.

by warriOs on Mar 16, 2009 5:45 PM PDT up reply actions

It’s not so much that I wouldn’t want calderon or rondo on my team. I just don’t think Andris is expendable enough for us to lose him over a point guard. I believe our team would be worse off with a legitimate point guard and an even larger hole at center.
It would also be breaking the golden rule – “never trade big for small”

by amhd388 on Mar 16, 2009 9:24 PM PDT up reply actions

I dont really get that golden rule, I understand that you should value bigs more but shouldnt the golden rule be something closer to “never trade a better player for a worse player”?

This aint the slow paced ball of the 80’s and 90’s ball anymore, where you can just ‘dump into the big man’ and win. Unless you have Dwight Howard, Yao Ming, or Tim Duncan, your going to build your team around wing players.

Turiaf didnt get a couple calls and just sat down for a couple plays which really hurt my feelings. I really like him.
