I Hate Faker Fans
Last night I went to Staples Center, to see the Warriors and Lakers game. I can't stand this so called Faker fans. They called BWright a Freak, whenever he shoot a freethrow. They shouted Warriors suck. Well I can't blame them. But when I shouted Faker as in capital "F" everyone around me stare and like I disgrace the word of God or something. Or when I boo on Kobe its like I dis Jesus. Damn Faker fan I know they only watch the Laker when they are a winning team. Thats why Im a Warrior fan win or lose I will always be a Warrior fan Like A Raider fan am I.
Well of you Filipino out there I know our master rapper Francis M has died. Well I made a little Rap against this faker fans and you can add or edit this or even make recording out of it I don,t care
Faker Fan
Lets go Faker fan
I know you use to be a Clipper fan
when Elton Brand was their Man
and Shaq moved to Florida land
or you are even a Warrior fan
when we make that play off run
Now you jump the bandwagon van
what the hell wrong with you man
what a pathetic fan
you son of a gun
what ? you even like the phoenix sun
damn you all Faker fan
This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

I'm also a Dubs fan in LA...
and I’ve been dealing with their crap for the past 10 years since I moved here.
+1
I lived in LA for a few years and here’s the general guidelines for being a Lakers fan:
1.) Make sure Lakers are good this year
2.) Pretend Kobe=Jesus and everyone else on the Lakers is Lebron James
3.) Act like every other team in the NBA sucks
4.) Talk about how good the Lakers will be when Bynum comes back. If you want to win over Lakers fans, mention this and you will be the hero of the conversation.

And walk around with no24 jersey
And put Lakers flags on your car window or if its a van its better
Now you are officially driving a bandwagon mobile around the 405 the 110 and the 10
And then onto 101
At work today, this bandwagon Laker fan got on my case about my boy, durant, and the thunder getting smashed by the lakers last night. So then I said “oh yeah. i forgot that around this time, you’re a laker fan.” This dude hella cheered for the We Believe squad back then.
I hate Faker Fans too
Who I hate most are people who start out the season cheering for the Warriors, then finish it cheering for the Fakers. Haha I used the same analogy. I boo the $hit outta Kobe, then the Faker fans out here turned around and looked at me like I’m disrespecting God. On this website, I caught the same heat from not liking Monta Ellis. I’m starting to appreciate him again. As long as he doesn’t do anymore stupid off-court nonsense that cost us winning games.

only reason he has a career today is because he rode the coattails of lauren hill.
Lyrically, L-Boogie (Lauryn Hill) would assassinate WYCLEF. But, if i’m not mistaken Wyclef produced the majority of their albums. As solo artists, they’ve both held their own.

The "Fakers" epithet needs to be retired. Who's with me?
Listen, I generally dislike LA fans just as much as most of you, but “Fakers” has got to be one of the stupidest disses out there. Who’s faking what? Are the Lakers faking something? Are Lakers fans “fake fans”? If the latter, then wouldn’t the fans themselves be termed “Fakers” rather than “Fakers Fans”, which implies that there are fans of fake fans? Should we really be taking that huge of a leap just because it rhymes?
I thought we were supposed to be the smarter, more enlightened area of California. Can’t we do something better than “Fakers”?

It’s a terrible sounding diss. I cringe at the sound of it. Might as well call the Warriors the BOREiors. Well, except we’re not boring. (Just lose a lot)

Lmao @ Boreiors
That’s actually pretty good. A Warrior hater would be able to use that name. Props to you if it ever comes up, although it would suck to hear as it degrades our team.
I can speak for myself
I like calling the Lakers the Fakers because they are in the place that mainly embodies fakes and phonies… Hollywood. And they are arguably one of the biggest bandwagon team in sports… If not, probably the biggest one. So fake fans as well mainly. Plus, Kobe’s fake too. He dissed his teammates before the beginning of last year and wanted out. He didn’t feel he could win with them. Then they do way better then he thought. All of a sudden, he calls his teammates his “brothers.” Plus, Fisher flops all the time. And their wins are fake. ‘02 has been proven. Even against A.I. and the 6ers, Shaq hit Mutombo in the face a variety of times, and would get away with it. Therefore, fake titles. Fakers!!! But that’s my personal intake on it.

Dude, it’s not like I don’t share your loathing of the Lakers. I mean, I’ve got the bug doubly, since I was born and grew up in Boston. Watching that Lakers game, I literally jumped up from my chair once to exclaim “EFF YOU VUJACIC YOU FVCKING LITTLE PVSSY!!!!” — such is my distaste for that dude and that team.
At the same time, I’m fuly aware that if by some random twist of fate I had grown up in LA, I’d be all over Kobe’s and Vujacic’s nuts (I mean, assuming they have any). And you’d be the same way, only instead of spilling words upon words on GSoM trying to “justify” your inbred Lakers hatred, you’d be doing the same about the Warriors or Celtics on a Lakers blog.

Ha, that perfectly captures the incredibly ignorant, naive, and unenlightened view of conservatism, the republican party, and the “working class” that a so many norcal liberals love to perpetuate. I don’t wanna make this another ridiculously long thread that devolves into an exchange of insults over ridiculous political arguments, but I’d encourage you to try speaking with an educated low-income republican about their views before aloofly dismissing them with the very same type of offensive generalizations the left is supposed to despise. If an individual shares your economic bracket but holds a different set of values they are inherently wrong and probably a dumb redneck to boot? C’mon Bimbo, you’re better than that. Taking time out to make a strange and totally random attack on the political opposition….I thought you were better than that, too.
Thing A
not quite sure what you're getting at, but...
i will admit that i’m a major abuser of generalizations, kinda like “norcal liberal”. i have a hard time visualizing what that entails. personally, i’ve probably spent too much time outside of northern california to be considered “norcal”, and i also don’t identify with liberalism, per se. actually, i don’t belong to any political party, and don’t advocate any particular political or economic philosophy as the rosetta stone of global turmoil. i was just trying to make an admittedly inflammatory connection between the superficial, brand recognition-type thinking that goes into being a fan of flagship, corporate juggernauts like the lakers and yankees, and belonging to the republican party if you’re middle class.
to be fair, i will gladly admit that belonging to ANY political party is stupid across the board. i do, however, stand by my criticism of the republicans. if anyone can give me one reason why a middle-class person should be a republican for economic reasons, i welcome it. responses using the term “trickle-down” will be disqualified, as that will cause my head to explode in exasperation.

I believe the metaphor they prefer is
“Making the pie bigger.”
It’s a nice image, though in practice what it generally seems to result in is massive debt, shoddy infrastructure and public services (healthcare, e,g.), a growing chasm between rich and poor, and a general slippage towards third-world status.

if anyone can give me one reason why a middle-class person should be a republican for economic reasons
are you suggesting economic policy should be the only or even the primary basis for voting behavior? Further, should everyone vote in their own self interest or simply in the policy they perceive to be most fair and promotes the most responsible policy making?
Thing A
not at all.
i posed that question because economic policy is historically the primary reason for a middle-class person not to vote republican. only by virtue of jerry falwell and the moral majority did they sink their greedy teeth into that voter base. now, of course, we have the post 9/11 “kill ’em all” good ol’ boys. there’s nothing like blood lust to broaden your demographic appeal.
with regard to you second question, if people voted in their best interest we would have universal healthcare, and they’d have beer on tap at the concession stand at the movies like a civilized country. unfortunately, most people aren’t able to make informed decisions, so they just go with the guy who’s most into jesus and/or blowing other countries.

see, that still just seems like a rather convenient and elitist way to dismiss the opposition, the percentage of “kill em all good ol boys” on the right is roughly equal to the “everyone just needs to hug it out and live in a tree” percentage on the left. I get the point you were making about Yankee and Laker fans, now though. I misread/misunderstood your analogy before, I still think its a little off-base and a bit uncalled for, but I thought it was much more random before. Exactly
That’s how I know for a fact too that someone out there’s a real fan. Not just when the Clippers make the playoffs either.
I am from LA (and moved to the bay 2 years ago) and am a die hard clipper fan. I have a t-shirt with sam cassells face on it to proove it. But in all seriousness the laker “fanbase” is probably on average the most ill informed fanbase about the nba in general. They are horrible fans, and are just there to be with a “winner”.
I also went to ucla, and its the same with people from LA who did not go to usc, but are “usc football fans”.
Its 90% bandwagoners anyway and it makes you sick. Its just like all the LA “patriots fans”… As much as I love LA, LA is very much a disloyal town. Once kobe gets old, and bynum is a bust from chronic knee injuries… no one will be a laker fan I guarantee it.
That said, I have gone 2 to two clipper – warriors games up here… and warrior fans arepretty much great fans (considering how bad the warriors are especially, clips fans are a pretty solid bunch, but we never pack staples when the clips are bad which is most of the time). I have been booed badly 2 times at oracle in full clipper gear. Both clipper losses, I am not sure I want to know what would happen if the clips won.
Once kobe gets old, and bynum is a bust from chronic knee injuries… no one will be a laker fan I guarantee it.
You apparently don’t recall the magic, kareem era? Don’t worry about the Lakers they were good before he came and they’ll still have a life after Kobe. Unlike the Warriors they apparently do have a plan?

Correction to your uninformed comment
My point was that the arena was sold out. And two of those three years we were in the playoffs, would have made it all three if Phil was coaching the first year. Lost to Phoenix in first round both those years cause Kobe choked one year and acted like a punk the next. The building was sold out because most Laker fans (not all, there are a fair share of bandwagon fans like any elite team has) are like any other team’s fans. We stick by our team through thick and thin. Just ignore the obvious bandwagon fans, and let the true Laker fans root for their team. Don’t see us hating on Warrior fans cause I got mad respect for you guys.
I think it’s that there are not many Warrior fans that can relate with the Laker mindset. When we are up by 4 with 5 minutes to go, we brace ourselves for the inevitable collapse. When you guys are up by 4 with 5 minutes to go, you guys are thinking game over. Many Warrior fans see that as cockiness, arrogance, and being spoiled. We do not have high expectations for our team (because our team never deserves high expectations) so when we see others with high expectations we get jealous, and complain that they have never experienced the hardship that we have. Calling you guys bandwagon fans makes some Warrior fans feel better about their situation because though they might be losing, at least they are proving their loyalty. Even if you aren’t a bandwagon fan, the fact that you are not proving your loyalty by supporting a bad team causes some Warrior fans to lump you in with the bandwagon fans.
Not saying it’s fair, but that’s the way it is.

We stick by our team through thick and thin
true, as long as
-the team has a superstar on the roster
-the team is at least semi-competitive
-you don’t consider arriving on time and staying for the whole game “through thick and thin”
Thing A
So it’s my fault that I root for a team that wins a lot? Fans aren’t fans unless the team they root for is terrible? Should I start cheering for the Clips just so I can be considered a “real fan?” And it’s my fault that the team I root for finds a way to acquire and keep star players, unlike teams who let these stars go? And that this keeps my team competitive? Again, I’m not saying there aren’t bandwagon fans. Any elite team has bandwagon fans. I’m just saying the fans (like me) who sit in the rafters at Staples are the same as the great fans in the rafters at Oracle. We cheer on our team for the whole game, and will still be doing that no matter who is on the floor and how much we are or are not winning.

Ha, I used to live in socal and I’ve been to more than a handful of Laker games…..the people in the rafters there ARE NOT the same people in the rafters at Oracle, man. There might be a few of you, but the majority is vastly different.
Thing A
@LakerFan24
Thats weird coz during Smush and Kwame Brown era Clippers started to emerge and Clippers Game sold more ticket than the Laker, or if not is almost the same figure. But now everybody go to Lakers game and you almost see an empty sit on Clipper games. When you say L.A or Socal people are solid as thick and thin. Wait until Lakers bound for lottery, and Im probably sure you gonna started to see empty sit. Or maybe even Jack Nicholson will not renew his season ticket. We at the Bay we stick to our team whatever what happen. we go to the game even we are lottery bound. And sometimes the owner take us for granted even our team suck or not they no they gonna see ticket sales. Thats what a real fans called. I have lot of friends in L.A they wear this no#24 jersey but when I ask them who won, whenever their team are playing. They dont even know their team is playing right now.
Trust me, the only time the Clips outsold the Lakers was the one year they made it farther in the playoffs. And that was only after the Lakers were eliminated. I’ve been around when the Lakers were bad (when Magic was coaching them…..*shudder*) and the stadium was still sold out. Believe that. And your friends are clearly the bandwagon ones that I have already admitted do exist. This does not prove that real fans of the Lakers do not exist, this just proves that SOME fans are bandwagon. Which you always get with successful teams, the Warriors will have the same thing happen 25 years from now when the owner is gone and someone who cares about winning is running the organization. I would just like you to know that the majority of folks that root for the Lakers are not bandwagon fans. Don’t lump them with the bandwagon ones.
You got my respect
like you said your a real fan. What I hate is people who jump in and became the bandwagon fan are most likely to complain or bitch when their team is losing. And started booing their own player like you guys did when Kobe wants out. Even Kobe is not loyal to you guys, he only stick around because now he got Gasol and you guys are bound for championship. Kobe is the real bandwagon player. Well at least Kareem and Magic they stick with Lakers most of their career. So right now in L.A you dont know who is the real fan or not.
That's one of the many, many reasons I hate Kobe
J-RIch was on so many bad Warrior teams, and at least publicly, never requested to be traded. Kobe put all his teammates on blast for the whole world to hear.
There may be plenty of laker fans
bandwagon and legit alike…but the one thing that is not debatable is the fact that its just so easy to be a laker fan. My brother is a laker fan, and he argued that he had to struggle and endure through rebuilding mode. I had to explain to him that one year of missing the playoffs once in the past 9 years does not count as “rebuilding”. Its easier to be a laker fan because they always have a star. And if for whatever reason they dont, they will go out and buy one because of all the fake hollywood people spending $200K for season tickets. On top of that, the lakers somehow become the miraculous beneficiaries of a B.S. lopsided trade (Kwame for Gasol) and always seem to benefit from bad officiating due to their populairity and constant media coverage. This may be all the reasons that there are so many bandwagoners, but its also the reason that “real’ Laker fans have the perception in the rest of the league as being "Fake”. Being a laker fan is simple, easy, and almost painfully predictable. Right now, its the very same way when talking about being a clevland fan or a boston fan, only those franchises went through a lot of dark years before getting where they are, and the fans deserve to be able to watch that success. Ive been a warrior fan since I moved to the bay area roughly 6 years ago, and Ive been a bobcat fan since there inception into the league. The warriors season is lost this year but I have a very thin thread of hope that one of my teams will make a playoff appearance this year. Come back with your laker talk when you finally realize what a privelage it is to have your team be so successful. Props to all the people who actually show up to the fedex forum to root on the grizz…..man those are some dedicated fans!

Aboslutely
It’s funny when “fans” of good teams tell fans of bad teams their teams suck. They’re just showing they only like them for the time they’re doing good.
Looks like you should take away your +1
I don’t mean it literally. I’m using sarcasm towards Sleepy. As you can see on your post and you’ll see on others, this guy mainly always likes to counter what I say. There’s been others on here who also think what I do, but I’ll be the one he goes after. It’s funny though.
That Sleepy
He’s so mean with his doses or rationality.

And Laker fans bitch when they team loss even 1 game its like the end of the world. But they still in the playoff and on the top spot. They just dont like losing. Because winning to them is so natural they dont know what it feel to lose a game. But Warrior fan rejoice whenever we got a W even were not into playoff race.

Golden Boy: I never said the Warriors suck
Don’t put words in my mouth I never said. Read my posts on this thread and you’ll see I am just trying to explain that just because some fans are bandwagon, there are many of us out there that grew up with the Lakers, just as I’m sure you grew up with the Warriors. That’s the only point I’m trying to make, that you can’t just say all fans of the team are bandwagoners because it’s simply not true. And I personally root for the Warriors as well (against anyone but the Lakers, which is why I’m on this site) because it would be really great for the game if we could get a new West Coast rivalry going. That’s all I’ve been trying to say.
Dude I'm not even talking about you
Props to you for being a Laker fan no matter what. I’m talking about Laker bandwagoners in general. And it is a rivalry dude. Whether the Warriors are in the playoffs or not, we have the Lakers’ attention. All their games are always close except for the 1st one at Staples this year. This goes back to even last year, especially on Easter Sunday.
I never said the Warriors suck
I don’t think you understand this Warriors fan thing yet. If you can’t embrace a good suck you better go back to LA.

To me, there is nothing worse than a Bay Area native that roots for the Lakers
I grew up a Warriors fan when they were a laughing stock for 13 straight years. Basketball is so muh better today when there is a competetive balance and so many more teams that have a chance. If your team is horrible the only people to blame are upper management(Thats you Bobby and CC). In the 80’s everyone had to choose between the Celtics and Lakers.
Root for your home town team, regardless of their struggles.

in the p.i. before
its either youre a laker fan or a celtic fan coz way way back when the games were shown in ptv 4, it was always lakers and celtics games or reruns of some lakers-celtics finals..until the bulls came and stole the show from both of them, then people here sorta forgot all about the nba for a little while coz cable tv was like a luxury or something and the only nba games that we got was once a week every wednesday on gma 7..now only a few celtic fans are left and most of our countrymen are rooting for the lakers, oh and kobe kinda visited the p.i. for a short while which kinda added up to the faker syndrome..
believe me, there is nothing worse than debating with a faker fan, i remember i got into a really heated debate with a faker fan last year when fisher held on to monta ellis en-route to a offensive foul during the dying seconds on one of the dubs close games against the fakers last year..but weve got a couple of faker haters here too, especially the ones who bet on game six of the spurs0fakers game when that damn vujacic shot that three when the game was already decided..haha..you know college guys here like to bet on odds..
I was at the game last year. And Fisher didn’t just hold onto Monta, he pulled him down. But what does that have to do at all with the fans of the team? You’re honestly going to tell me that if the call went the other way (which I can already hear you complaining it never would, which is not true) you would complain that your team got screwed into a win? As a fan you wouldn’t do that, you say (like me) that too bad the ref made a bad call but at least we won the game. Any fan would do that.
Not really
I would always admit if we had a tainted win. It’s the Warriors though, and refs hate us so you know we’ll never get one. Plus, I’m not bias at all. Monta is our cornerstone, and I can’t stand him. I don’t boo any ex-Warriors except Derek Fisher, but you can add Monta to that list if/when he ever becomes apart of that.
I would always admit if we had a tainted win. It’s the Warriors though, and refs hate us so you know we’ll never get one. Plus, I’m not bias at all.
I call BS. It’s coming out your ears. Do you actually think any fan of any other team (or really, any sane, unbiased person) would agree that refs hate the Warriors? From time to time you should try checking the crap you fill this board with against reality. It would make your posts a lot more tolerable.

Including you.
Indeed, as far as invented words go, “upsession” may come close to your intriguing mix of of obsession (with others’ opinions of you) and upset-ness (whenever anyone disagrees with you)…
Thing 1
It's "sincerest form of flattery"
And quoting someone is actually not the same thing as imitation, though they may seem conflated in your skull full of mush.
You should take it as sincere flattery, though. Much better that than to constantly whine and play the victim, your usual m.o.
I really don’t try and single you out, GB. I do sometimes scan the board for pure BS and react to it, often less politely than I should. It just so happens that a disproportionately high percentage of the pure BS on this board is spewed by you.
I guess the only advice I can give — again — is to try to leave your “self” (self-loathing, self-serving, self-pity, etc.) out of your posts, and try to make your comments hew as closely as possible to some kind of measurable or observable reality. That way, when someone responds to your observation, you can try to come to some kind of synthesis of ideas, based on reality, rather than taking every viewpoint that runs counter to yours as a personal attack.
Naturally, I’m not holding my breath.
Thing 1
Haha.
Now this is where you switch gears and go crying to mommy about how you really want to have serious hoops dialogue, if only people would stop being so mean to you… XD
Get out your handkerchiefs!
Thing 1
If my posts aren't tolerable
then don’t read it. Have you ever thought of that? You read what I post. I don’t read what you do unless it’s a reply to mine. Sometimes I don’t even bother doing that. I was just bored today.
It’s the Warriors though, and refs hate us
Maybe you deserve it?
