Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

3379863782_4a11e95cdc_o

Fresh off his second contract buy-out of the past 2 years, former face of the Warriors franchise Adonal Foyle has been picked up off waivers by the Orlando Tragic to be a practice partner for Superman [Third Quarter Collapse].

Where are all the folks screaming at Nellie for benching Foyle the first second he got here? Can you believe Chris Mullin actually structured a team option for $10.5 million after this season in Foyle's contract offer back in 2004 (see Worst FA's since 1996)? Can you believe Robert Rowell actually approved that deal?

Be on the lookout for this summer's blockbuster movie Dumb and Dumber II: The Mullin and Rowell front office.

I think it was just me and Zorgon and he’s grown up and moved to the thunder.
I still say it was stupid of Nellie to waste any potential variety we had, it doesn’t build team morale and it’s not smart basketball to waste even the smallest chance to play for advantage. There’s times where a foyle can do what a skinny center can’t. Speed is not always the answer sometimes a truck is nice to have at your disposal.

Now wheres the rubbers? Whose got the rubbers?
I noticed there's so many of them
and there's really not that many of us.

Re: sometimes a truck is nice to have at your disposal.

Not if the steering wheel is broken. Nelson said he would play Foyle if he got in shape, which he did, and followed directions, which he did not. The directions were very simple:

DO NOT TRY TO BE A SCORER.

For some odd reason, Foyle kept trying to score, even with cinder blocks for hands.

Foyle didn’t play because, he didn’t listen to the coach or anyone who has ever watched Foyle try to score.

Reduce your carbon footprint, commit suicide.

Not if the steering wheel is broken.

You can always just park in in the fast lane to impede traffic. A good coach learns to give and get something positive to and from every player. The small things add up to a lot of big things if they are exploited.
You don’t think you coulda found a few spots where Adonal’s strength would have made a difference in games? I recall quite a few times where we were stalled on offense and sucking on defense and losing a lead. The Utah series comes to mind, a well coached and motivated Foyle could have helped preserve the late lead or given the starters time to recover their energy for the stretch run.
It’s can’t hurt to have versatility in your arsenal, being predictable is a poor strategy.

He had one low post move.

Unfortunately he had to catch the ball in a precise spot in the low block. Then he would do some drop-step, duck-under move and score. The the first problem was that he had to “catch” the ball. The second problem was that he shot form places other than that spot.

Hey now, I haven't moved on.

But I still stand by my judgement in that case. Not because I’m a unabashed Adonal Foyle homer, but simply because we really had no Biedrins backup that could play major defense. He could have stepped in and clogged the lane, providing help defense for anybody charging the lane (which is easily what he’s best at) and swatted a few shots. Could we play him more than 10-15 minutes a game? Probably not, but I think he would have helped in that short amount of time.

Nah, I haven't moved on in my life

Trust me, my home is still here. I’m going to move out of Oklahoma (most likely) this fall. And I can pretty much see myself spending more time on Golden State of Mind and cheering the Warriors from afar. I cheer for the Thunder because it’s nice to get in tho the culture….but I’m not sure how well it would go long-distance.

He should get extra credit for coaching by proxy.Higher difficulty level.

I think the real plan is to steal Keith Smart’s soul so Nelson’s brain can live on in Smart’s healthy body. Say what you want about Nelson, but his body looks like what was left over from Chris Farley’s funeral.

Adonal Foyle with the thizz face. lol.

Good times, good times. All those crazy personalities on the Warriors in 07 and along with them was the poet, Adonal Foyle. haha.

He actually could have helped a bit that year. He could have reduced some of our rebounding problems. Bad contract, though. Still, we could have used his big expiring (along with some fillers) to land someone like Pau Gasol to add to our We Believe team in the offseason. Finally would have had the scoring big man that we needed to continue.

The real outrage is...

that Rowell was ok with that Foyle contract, but not with Baron’s… Absolutely unbelievable.

Perspective

At the time we signed Foyle we had no other option for center. Damp just left and other teams were showing interest in Foyle, he was known for his D if nothing else so our hands were pretty much tied unless we wanted to go into the season sporting the 6’7" and under team.

Just the year before everyone was oohing and aahing over our two headed monster at the center position.

There's a party in my mind.
And I wish that I was there.
