Game: Warriors vs. Pistons – 2008 season = Train wreck!

Golden State Warriors at Detroit Pistons, Mar 6, 2009 5:00 PM PST

19thomas-600_medium

Yep! We're a train wreck alright!

Warriors: 21-40
Pistons: 30-29
Tip-Off: 5:00 PM PST
TV: CSN
Radio: KNBR

Up down, left right, play or don't play. This season is a complete train wreck. Lucky for you I'm a little nicer then my friend Fantasy Junkie. If you didn't think it could get any worse then check out Fantasy Junkie's recap from Wednesday night, showcasing the butt kicking we endured against the Bulls. In fact it was more depressing then a typical butt kicking, that one looked like it hurt.

However, as nice as I am I'm a little cranky today. Did anyone hear Nellie on the radio yesterday? Am I the only one who's completely irritated with this season now?

Call me a late bloomer but hit the jump for the reality of the situation:

YaoButta's Predictions

  • Warriors lose by 9.
  • Randolph has 1 nice play, then sits the rest of the game.
  • Ellis doesn't even attend the trip to Detroit.
  • Hamilton and Wallace combine for 55+ points.
  • I change the channel by the 3rd quarter to watch Family Feud.

Star-divide

- This Season is a complete waste of time. No growth or chemistry. We are not good enough to make the playoffs but we are not bad enough to rebuild this team.

- Randolph. I'm over you. You are a bust. I'm tired of seeing and hearing you whine and complain about playing time or injuries. I'm also tired of seeing one nice play from you and then have to watch you show boat for the next 2 minutes. Grow up!

- Monta, you ruined our season. You signed a huge contract, became the face of our franchise and then you lie about a stupid stunt you pulled causing you to end our season and yours. Grow up!

- Captain Jack. I'm calling you out man. Are you telling me this is the best that you can do? I'm not talking about individual stats, I'm talking about trying to bring the team together and play for a purpose. How many excuses can you make? Grow up!

- Warrior players in general: How can you show your face to the best fans in the NBA and show no to little heart? I'm more inclined to root for the Bobcats then I am for the Warriors now because at least they show some heart! Grow up!

Someone please calm me down. Tell me I'm wrong and explain to me why it's worth rooting for a team who shows NO emotion and has NO respect to their fans? Tell me! I'm not trying to become negative here, but I woke up today as a season ticket holder and realized a winning season won't happen in the next 8 years! As a die hard fan I'm sick of these results. Does it really matter who we play tonight? Nellie has confirmed we are playing our young ones more, so clearly winning is not a priority. Whoever comments on tonight's game and gives me the best reason to have hope for this season, gets a shout out on my recap.

Poll
YaoButta = Too Harsh on the Warriors today?

oh yeah

Billups isn’t a Piston anymore.

Is that a sign you didn’t mean anything in that post?

by disguy on Mar 6, 2009 1:22 PM PST up reply actions

You forgot

Marco hits some 3s, makes a bad pass and gets yanked.

by mosdl on Mar 6, 2009 1:27 PM PST reply actions

Don't you mean: up up down down left right left right play don't-play start

Randolph might not play if his groin still hurts. Randolph also has grown up since the beginning of the season. He’s playing within the game, within his team, and within his role.

Anyway, I’ll watch the rest of the season because I’m a Warriors fan, and because I get to see our depth develop in Morrow, Marco, and Randolph.

Besides, just pretend it’s a summer league team, and not the Warriors, and you’ll be OK.

by IQofaWarrior on Mar 6, 2009 1:38 PM PST reply actions

Here's so randomness

Because you’re cool. You have a great companion sitting right next to you in your season pass seat. (if not, I suggest you replace her/him ….like fast) We’re tanking? Because like a preggy woman, you don’t count the pain, the emotions, the stress, the morning sickness, the times your pull the father’s hair out, or beat him…the times you hate him. The clothing you no longer fit in, cramp feet…legs…hours of labor, but the mere fact that you are now a parent…The reward. (or maybe lack of)

The Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy! And ring. (I certainly wouldn’t mind Tiffany & Co designing something urbanely cool for me)

Thanks for the open thread…(see, you appreciate things…well when someone forgot to create one. -=)

Let’s beat them!

I think we could win

I’ll most likely be wrong, but I think we can. The Pistons are a very flawed team this year. Hopefully we can take out our frustrations on a playoff chasing team, and tonight will be one of the nights.

Let's take stock at our lineup

Monta – out
BWright – out
Biedrins – out
AR – maybe
Buike – maybe

At worst, we have a 7 man rotation:
Marco, Crawford, Jack, Turiaf, Maggette, CJ, Morrow

Extra bodies: JD, Kurz, MWill

We are so dead.

by IQofaWarrior on Mar 6, 2009 2:18 PM PST reply actions

here Yao Butta...let me get that for you...

Warriors lose by 19.
Randolph is too hampered by his pulled groin and sits tonights game.
Ellis doesn’t even attend the trip to Detroit.
Hamilton, Wallace and Kwame Brown combine for 77+ points.
I change the channel by the middle of the 2nd quarter to watch the Cavs Vs. Celtics game on ESPN.

There ya go Yao Butta…I think that’s a little better. What say you? Lol

This isn’t our team, this is our second string team. In reality, we’re not truely THIS bad, or else we wouldn’t have 21 wins.

by Torukine on Mar 6, 2009 6:11 PM PST reply actions

this should be our plan for the off season…
void monta’s contract (if we still can), crawford opts out.
draft jeff teague and then sign a legitimate big-man in the free agency.

by gorillas on Mar 6, 2009 6:15 PM PST reply actions

Is Teague a true point guard?

The Ultimate Opportunist

by Rated-R Superstar on Mar 6, 2009 6:17 PM PST up reply actions

no

but there arent a lot of good PG’s in this years draft anyway.
teague can just fill the void of monta, if monta decides to leave.

From what I read, Teague has a lot of potential.

i would agree with you in alot of games this season.
Don Nelson shouldnt take as much blame.

AR got 47 minutes. we got to see the bench warmers play. Detroits players tonight was just better.

Maybe if Nellie gave more minutes to his bench during the season we would see a different outcome tonight. Maybe a loss but I bet we wouldnt have got killed.

Nellie was limitied with the players he had tonight. he does piss me off with some of his decisions he typically makes, but all the young guys we complain about not getting minutes…they got it tonight. no excuses. take the loss.

WADDUP GB! *daps*

I woulda been all for it. It woulda made Josh Morgan and Jason Hill way better.

It woulda kept Isaac Bruce on the team for another career year next season.

He woulda pumped up Patrick Wilz to be an Animal beyond the beast he is.

But you know what? I am also a big Shaun Hill so I support him all the way.

Ya. the fact he cant throw a spiral pisses me off like Jamal Crawford’s defense, but shaun gets the job done.

The Niners developed a very good chemistry in the last days of the season, so go with that and see what u can get. Singletary wants to run the ball more so the Niners really need to develop a great O-Line.

We got Huard as a backup or competition for starting QB. im all for it. Go Warriors. Go Niners! so what!

by Golden Boy on Mar 6, 2009 7:43 PM PST up reply actions

word. its a business. and he did it for that reason.

Just like how Monta claims to be a Warrior for life.

I hope he keeps his word. If he doesn’t, i’ll be pissed but open minded enough to realize its a business and how the Warrior front office should have treated him better about the situation.

before i get a million monta hater comments, I was pissed off as hell about the moped situation. i agree he was a dummy. (who doesnt?) and i do agree he screwed our 2008-09 season.

I got over it. just as the front office should and go with a different avenue in handling the situation.

He is our star player, so if i was the GM or OWNER, you have to build a better COMMUNICATION with Monta than what exists now. Ya you are pissed off, but don’t let your emotions take over you with how you talk with your star player.

Be professional about it. I aint no expert in this crap but i do know I would have been straight up with him in the words of “hey…you highly disappointed the Warriors organization and the Warrior fans. You highly disrupted our plans for this season and could have disrupted our future with your idiotic mistake. You are young and we realize you will make mistakes like this. The contract we just signed with you is how much we think you are a big part of the Warriors’ success. Don’t do it again and we will give you a second chance. Prove to us from now on your worth to the Warriors which will also show your appreciation to the fans. No further drama beyond this point. This drama is done. Lets move on. Now get "GO WARRIORS still” TATOOED ON YOUR FLESH."

he hasn’t been the same player he was before the injury, when he was dropping 17-27 a night

by Lincoln Logs on Mar 6, 2009 8:24 PM PST reply actions

He cant

if Don Nelson keeps taking him out of the game when he is on a roll. He has confidence, he performs superb when on the court. The one who needs confidence in him is Nellie.

by venom322 on Mar 6, 2009 8:29 PM PST up reply actions

I'll give you that..

But he probably feels under appreciated when he plays well and then gets benched for the next 20 minutes.

definitely flashed the skills to show that he could become a 3. yes he was a lil rough, but I’d still like to see AR get time there to develop

For the curious

From Marcus Thompson’s pregame:
“Swingman Kelenna Azubuike is out with his mid-back strain. Corey Maggette is out with a sprained right ankle. He injured it when he took out that Bulls cheerleader on the baseline Wednesday. Swingman Stephen Jackson is out with a strained right hamstring that he re-aggravated Wednesday. I’m told it’s something he’s been playing through.”

“With Ellis, Biedrins, Brandan Wright and Marcus Williams not with the team, the Warriors’ bench is depleted like never before”

So MWill is NOT with the team this trip. I wonder why.
