Monta Ellis Says Stiffness In His Left Ankle Was Never An Issue [Comcast SportsNet]
Talk about drama. Contradicting both the team's medical staff and Coach Don Nelson: Monta claims 1) there was nothing wrong with his ankle and 2) he's been playing point guard all season. I'm not sure why he would even want to claim #2 given his 2.8 assists : 2.5 turnover ratio this season, but we'll let that one slide.
As Biggie would say... Mo Moped Mo Problems.

interesting. well i think this tells us that kawakami was at his shenanigans again...
but he really hasn’t been playing a true pg, so far so i’m not sure why he says that…

Exactly! It sucks that people actually hated on Monta
when the REAL reason he wasn’t with the team was because his mom was sick. damn beat writers….

So...
Monta’s ankle was stiff. No wait, it wasn’t.
Monta left partially to protest. No wait, he left just for his mother.
Monta’s was playing sg, now will play pg. No wait, he’s BEEN playing pg.
Crawford should play pg. No wait, it should be Monta.

is it so crazy to think that maybe monta thinks he’s ready to play, but isn’t? he wants to be on the court and the only way he’s getting out there while we’re tanking is if he is absolutely 100% healthy. until that happens, he’s sitting on the bench. if i thought i was ready to go, i’d say what i needed to to get out there and try to get my team to actually win a game or two, instead of watching the “sit a vet and pray for defeat” strategy.

Hahahahah.
ehehehehehe
….
BAHAHAHAHAHAH
this just keeps getting more contrived and ugly
LGW!!!!!!!!!!!
lol.
I believe Monta means that his ankle (the devil of his problem) wasn’t the main factor of his departure when he left the team for his mother? I thought he has been trying to play the PG position. Who can forget the 8 seconds violation? Just because he’s trying to be a PG, does not necessary mean is he a good PG. Who cares about dimes when Monta is back?
lol that 8 second violation was soooooo embarrassing hahaha
he wasnt even being defended, he just jogged to slow
So Monta says his ankle is fine...
He was just playing like crap. That’s comforting.
Prima donna
Wow, he IS fast. He’s gone from a humble country boy to T.O. in only 12 months. From now on, I’m calling him T.E.. The rest of the world is either looking for a job or just trying to hold on to their paychecks and he’s pulling this type of crap? Talk about athletes being out of touch. Let them eat cake T.E.!!!
Marie Antoinette never said that.
The French just hated her so much that they did whatever they could to get people riled up against the Second estate.

what are you talking about?
easy, you have no idea. explain to me how he has turned into TO. TO calls out teammates. monta has never done this. monta has never even effected the play of the team. where do you come off saying hes gone from humble to not. do you know him?
do you happen to read perez hilton and believe everything he says too?

sarcasm...
but it doesn’t work here. because you really don’t know if monta has changed. you didn’t know what he was like before the contract and all the drama and you don’t know what he’s like now. so how do you come off making assumptions.
why are people so certain they know things when they don’t have the slightest idea…

Yes he is!
He knows defensive spacing! And, and, and….

MONTA
LEARN TO RESPECT YOUR COACHES AND YOUR TEAM OR GTFO.
i’m tired of his mouth, you’re not all that monta.
He didn't even say anything to disrespect the coaches.
There are three types of people in this world: Those who can count, and those who cannot.
every word he said was in complete defiance of what the coaches and team have publicly stated
thats disrespect
No, that's just showing that the coaches lied.
There are three types of people in this world: Those who can count, and those who cannot.
why would the coaches lie?
the last thing the organization would want to do is to share with the public that monta’s ankle is hurting. monta is the one not telling the truth here.
why would the coaches lie?
lol are you 5 years old?
"They can trade me," Bonds said. "I don't think they will, though. It's not like I want to be traded, man. I'm a Giant. I'm stuck here till the end."

got it
"They can trade me," Bonds said. "I don't think they will, though. It's not like I want to be traded, man. I'm a Giant. I'm stuck here till the end."
Exactly
I mean it’s not like Monta has a history of lying or anything.

to be fair
So does nellie :) I think he meant the reason he left for home was that his mom was sick and not his ankle. THe reason he wasn’t playing was the ankle (or more possibly to let the young healthy players get more running time and perhaps check out JC as point).
i hear what you're saying, but this is different
he wants to get on the court. it was dumb to lie about it, but he’s not trying to sabotage the team. he’s gotta be frustrated right now; he made a really dumb decision over the offseason that put his career in jeopardy, but now he thinks he can play and really wants to get out there. this is the sort of thing that we probably won’t be hearing about when he’s back on the court.
i’m not saying the guy’s a saint or anything. trust me, i was pissed that he was riding around on a moped after signing a 66 million dollar deal with my favorite team, but you have to see the difference between a kid being stupid and frustrated from a kid who’s a cancer. i’m going to hold the moped incident against him until he’s 100% healthy, i’m not going to worry about venting frustration about not being on the court at any point.
heart of a champion, will of the warrior.
I think the opposite is true
Not to be a jerk. But I am more lenient about the moped accident. I mean, he wasn’t riding a crotch rocket 120 while driving drunk from a strip club. I agree with you that was just stupid move and I personally don’t hold it against him. I think the club should have the option to void his contract if he can’t get back to form, because a stupid mistake still has ramifications, but it’d just be an unfortunate turn of events if this kept him from being the player he could have.
But the attitude and integrity is of much greater concern. He has full control over that. He lied about the moped accident, which was what really pissed most people off, not that he got into the accident. Then he gets upset that the team is keeping the right to void him. Then he gets upset at playing time, rotation, too many players at his position, whatever the percieved injustice is, and he takes off. Then the team tries to cover for him by saying it’s a stiff ankle and he shows them up by disagreeing. How many opportunities does he need?
IMO, he should have said publicly that he made a mistake and compounded it by lying. Instead he just wouldn’t talk to the media. He should be saying that he hopes the fans and teammates can forgive him, and that he’ll work his butt off to make it right. And he should be thanking the team for investing $66mil and the reins to the 1 spot in him.
So I personally don’t hold the moped incident against him very much, he may have to pay a hefty price. But I do hold his attitude against him and the way he is handling the situation. If he weren’t so young, I’d be calling for him to be let go, but I hope that fans/coaches/teamates letting him know he’s acting like a jerk will be enough to get his head back on straight.

that's fair
and no need to qualify with “not to be a jerk,” i’d have to be really defensive to take this as an attack on me (something we’ve seen a bit too much of on this site recently).
i guess my anger toward monta about the moped is really more frustration about the situation. i don’t think he should have been rolling around on a moped at all, so when he got hurt, it’s easy to be upset with him. i doubt i would care in the slightest about his moped-ing exploits if he never crashed the thing.
as for the attitude concern, i just see what is happening right now as a young player frustrated that he’s not on the court when he thinks he could be. it’s immature, definitely, but he’s a young player. it would be nice to see jack sit him down and say “hey, shut up for a second. just get healthy and play,” but for now, he just wants desperately to get back on the floor. at least that’s how i read it. if he threw a fit and stormed out for other reasons, i don’t see why nellie and co. would cover for him and say it’s the ankle. he made another stupid decision by lying, saying the ankle never hurt in hopes that they’ll put him in there sooner. that was stupid, no argument here.
i’ve said it a couple times, but if i were monta and i thought i were ready to play and was forced to sit, i’d be more than a little curious about the reasoning behind it. when we’re tanking by sitting vets and monta is being told he’s not healthy enough, it’s not crazy or childish for him to question the judgment/motivation of that decision. it IS childish for him to do it publicly. i’m a bit torn on the issue, but i tend to think that this is a young player who wants to play and when they let him out on the court again, this will go away. or at least that’s what i’ll tell myself.

I'm guessing that
if J-Rich was still with the team all would be good?
Do you also want to say that We Believe is dead for the umpteenth time?

He thinks he's been playing point guard?
That’s not a good sign. Sure he has initiated play on occasion. It really seems a mistake to say anyone has played point guard for the Warriors this season. If I had to choose who did it the most, it was Jackson. So, in a sense an awful lot of Warrior players—well Maggette would have trouble making the caee—could claim to have played point guard. If I were Monta, I wouldn’t make this argument though. A better test than looking at the tape is to total the assists. When you do that you will find out that if he was a point guard, he wasn’t much of one.
The Warriors are in greater disarray than...
a) Tim Geithner’s financial projections
b) Tara Reid after a night of clubbing
c) The Warriors at the end of Cohan-Nellie v 1.0
