WARNING: If you haven't heard the A's are playing tonight alongside the Warriors at home. This means traffic will be HORRENDOUS! If you are planning to go like I am please be aware that the A's start at 7pm and the Warriors start at 7:30 so good luck finding parking. You might want to plan ahead. Add Friday traffic to the mix and this will be as enjoyable as an enema.

I'm a big fan of Yao

He’s one of the best centers in basketball. The only thing about him is that a friggin feather could put him on the DL. And that’s just what the warriors need, more injuries.

I'm ready for a 4 game losing streak to close out the season

Houston, Utah, San Antonio, Phoenix. Oh yeah, this will be TONS of fun right up to the middle of next week. Pain and suffering is in my blood.

I heard that the Rockets have better chemistry since they got news of TMac’s season ending surgery news. Knowing that he’s out means that the other players can settle into a more well defined role, as opposed to waiting to see if TMac will be in or out of a game.

I predict a 17 point loss with 15 Crawford clangs and 2 Kurz airballs for our likely 8 man rotation.

So let's assume Crawford is out for this game and see what we got

Guards: CJ, Morrow Forwards: Buike, Randolph Center: Turiaf
Bench: Biedrins, Kurz

I’m guessing Biedrins will come off the bench unless Nellie thinks he’s recovered his hops. Otherwise, Biedrins is only 2/3 of a player right now. CJ’s going to get heavy duty minutes, but he’s not used to it. So will Kurz, but can’t play Hack A Yao, who is 86% FT this season. I also don’t trust Kurz to play the Al Harrington role on Yao by pulling Yao out to the 3 pt line. What kind of game plan can we possibly have???

i'm a yao fan, not a huge one but i want to see him do good

but when he goes up against big phiysical big men he gets rattled, almost to the point of getting punked. i dont think hes scared but, i dont know how mentaly tough he is. he should be playing like a moster as big as he is. he also gets tired quik playing in a fast pace so he can’t play in this system. he plays well against us cause we dont have any beef upfront(he plays well against alot of teams actually).

That's so wrong it's not even funny

Yao plays fantastically against Shaq and Dwight Howard. The guys he struggles against are those that can take him out to the three point line and front him constantly all game. Yao dominates games with traditional centers. I have no idea why you think the other is true.

He plays well against the Warriors because Biedrins refuses to continue the front versus him and Turiaf doesn’t actually play defense on him, he plays hack a Shaq. Sadly for the Warriors Yao is the best free throw shooting big man of all time. You don’t have a good defensive team, at all, that’s why Yao dominates the Warriors, it’s really as simple as that.

I’m not a trash talker, and don’t mean it to come off that way. I really enjoy this site a lot, but this is just completely and utterly untrue.

It’s Friday night, we have a bit of a 20-30s demographic and we don’t have a ton of commenters on Friday nights. We also compete with Clutchfans whose game threads in their forum are great. Our game threads aren’t nearly as homerific as the Clutchfans one is though.

she got all bent out of shape when i talked smack about her team during our we believe run in 07 and ended up having her boyfriend talk smack about ME as a person. i don’t know about you guys, but a little smack talk about your teams never hurt anyone they say. so much for that?

I actually am rooting for the rockets to go past 1st round without Tmac.
I am a fan of Tmac’s for a while, he’s a great individual player but is way overrated and lazy/unmotivated.

Rockets are lucky to have Aaron Brooks(If only he was OUR starting point guard…)
and Von Wafer who is like a Diamond in the dirt, seriously.(Never heard of this guy, but he made a name for himself now!

I am gonna cheer for Rockets only in the playoffs, No Lakers, or any other team, especially Celtics.

Okay

Well, there is just as much to do in Houston, and our fan base, because of Yao is pretty international as well. Couple the Friday night thing with a West coast game and it makes the numbers dwindle a bit.

Plus, while we strive to put out good content, GSoM is one of the gold standards for blogs. We are building our fan base and every week we add 20 or so users. By next year we hope to be able to be in the same conversation as this site.

Yao is the most polished offense center since Hakeem Olajuwon. He has more post moves than Shaq, Howard and Biedrins combined.

Al Jefferson is great

He’s truly underatted, but his offensive post moves aren’t in Yao’s stratosphere. I think you are confusing speed and athleticism with “post moves”.

Jefferson is really fantastic though, it freaking sucks that he went down with an ACL injury. I don’t care what anyone says, Minnesota will be remembered as having won that trade in the long run

The oddest part of that is that the Rockets match up on paper very well with the Lakers

They’ve been in 3 of the 4 games until a minute or so left and in the first game they were up 16-18 early and got destroyed because Tracy McGrady decided he didn’t want to play any more.
