Rubio to enter NBA Draft!
So Rubio is finally going to enter the draft! Is he worth pursuing by trading up? Do we even draft/trade for a PG? Your thoughts?

yes, yes, yes
we can probably trade for him since many of the teams with a lot of lotto balls already have point guards
we need a PG/backup PG….if ellis doesnt work out at point….rubio can step in….if ellis works out…we have a backup point (real point, not cj/belli points)
if we can…we use cj/belli in the trade OR use them in a trade for a starting SF, with maggs/craw/wright also possible trade fodder
if we can draft rubio….and get a legit starting PF (odom/artest) we are set!
PG: ellis – rubio
SG: jackson – morrow/buki
SF: odom/artest – buki/randolph
PF: randolph – wright (if we can keep him)/(odom/artest)/turiaf
C: andris – turiaf
if we can have this lineup….wow….ill be soo happy!

Great News!
Now, let’s hope the warriors can find someone to trade with (or get extremely lucky with the lotto). Unfortunately, this won’t be as easy as many of us would like.
Adoptive Parent of Francisco Peguero. He can throw, he can run, he can hit(fastballs), and he's Dominican. What else do you need to know?
I hate being an Optimist when it comes to my dubs..
But having said that, this does exite me, i think its safe to say we “may” have a good chance of landing him.
Sac HAS to take Blake.
washington just paid arenas a but load of cashola to stay.
clips vested in baron.
Oklahoma city has westbrook, who looks good already.
now Minnesota, thats the first scary one that pops out. they could snatch up Rubio in a minute, however nbadraft.net has them taking Brandon jennings at their slot. However, if they do take Rubio, hey, Jennings may become available to us. Still a score for the dubs.
memphis, however can also snag up Ricky OR Jennings should they chose. Since their only true point is Mike Conelly. But, lets try to be optimistic here.
Should lady luck roll the dice even half toward us, we could have a shot of landing either Rubio OR Jennings.
Hopefully our lame duck managment, whoever is calling the draft shots, doesnt blow it.
very good point
Since the wizards, clippers, and thunder all have “solid” pointguards or have spent significant amounts of money on them, it wouldn’t be ideal for them to draft rubio. Let’s hope two things happen: 1. if we don’t get second pick, that one of these teams has significant interest in some combination of Wright, Belinelli, Azubuike, and/or Watson (maybe even Crawford?), and that 2. these teams pick based on need instead of BPA…
One can only wish…
Sac has to take Blake
And what if they’re picking #2 and don’t get the chance? They actually worry me most. The thought of them landing Rubio, and instantly morphing back into those exhilarating turn-of-the-millennium Webber/Bibby/Peja Kings — while we fumble around with all our “talented” pieces and no catalyst to galvanize them — kinda makes me want to commit hara kiri.
MIN … agreed, zero chance of prying Rubio, no matter what we offer them. They’ve been looking for a true PG around whom to build since Starbury started to suck.
WAS, LAC, OKC … you could be right. We might be able to entice them to part with Rubio if they were holding #2, but you can be sure they’d extract their pound of flesh: say, a package built around AB, Monta, or Randolph. I’d throw MEM in with this group, as they may not be ready to give up on Conley as their long-term PG.
Jennings, meh … as far as consolation prizes go, I’d probably rather have Lawson.

lol
monta, AB, or randolph….for a DRAFT pick that COULD be good….would make NO sense
id toss em any of these guys: maggs, crawford, bellineli, wright….MAYBE morrow or buki…
but to think we’d give up any of our ‘big 3’ for a draft pick (who is not sure to be good in the nba) makes no sense to me….and im sure would not make sense to management

Yup … “you take our unwanted garbage for a guy who looks like a young Steve Nash with defense.” You gotta give to get, dude. A good rule of thumb: if it doesn’t pain you to make the deal, your potential trading partner will laugh in your face.
Personally, if Nellie and the brass have done their due diligence on Rubio and found him to be, in their opinion, “all that,” I would be more than a little miffed to know we didn’t go balls-to-the-wall to get him. And by balls-to-the-wall, I mean: anyone on our team. Ideally not Randolph, since the idea of a young team built around AR and Rubio makes me drool. But anyone else. Monta + #7 for Rubio + a salary dump of some kind? Sure. Same deal with Biedrins? It would HURT, but yes. Which of these young cores would you rather build around:
1. Rubio/Biedrins/Randolph/Wright/Turiaf/Azubuike/Morrow
2. Rubio/Monta/Randolph/Wright/Turiaf/Azubuike/Morrow
3. Our existing kids plus some garbage we pick up with the #7
I take them in that order. And #3 is a very distant third.
Alternately, we luck into #1 or 2 in the lottery (a 9.2% chance!) and don’t have to give up any “pound of flesh” at all… ;-)

im not trading
monta or andris for someone who COULD be decent….especially when both of them are good
rubio has not played in the nba…as much as i love him…im not trading monta or andris for someone who has not proven anything real yet

Well, that works out for you then
Since the team holding Rubio probably won’t flip him for anything less than Randolph plus the #7; and right now, factoring in salaries, Randolph is almost certainly our most valuable trading chip, likely followed by Biedrins and then Monta, with Wright a distant 4th. No one else qualifies as much more than filler, and guys like Maggs and Craw have negative values in trade.
Yeah, Rubio COULD be decent, or he COULD be really, really good; thing is, true PGs who COULD be really, really good are a rare and increasingly treasured commodity in the NBA. This dude at Sporting News goes so far as to say Rubio might end up the #1 ahead of Blake:
If Rubio’s in, and Griffin’s in, we may see a real dilemma at the top that comes down to trends in the league. So far, we’ve seen Rondo, Rose, Billups, and Parker carry their teams, and the usual reminder that Chris Paul and Deron Williams are amazing even if their teams have issues. As far as size is concerned, well, Defensive Player of the Year Dwight Howard is dominant, Andrew Bynum’s helpful, Carlos Boozer has numbers. The point guards have made more of a splash, but the big men are that insurance policy teams will always value. There’s also the question of whether teams believe Rubio can step in and perform on that elite PG level, and whether Griffin is dynamic or merely serviceable.

i wouldnt
trade andris or randolph for rubio….
going from big to small makes no sense for our team at all…we have an overflow of small guys already
MAYBE id toss in ellis for him….but realistically, we have not seen monta train for a summer to play the point…for all we know he could be better than tony parker at being a shoot first point.
i think we can get away with trading wright + watson/belli + crawford/maggs + #7 pick for #1 or #2 pick + some contract….it would be fair for both teams IMO depending on which team gets the #1 and #2 picks….
it really is going to come down to WHO gets the #1 and #2 picks….hope that its either us, OKC, or maybe the clipps and we will prob be able to make a good trade
if its the clipps….we could prob do:
wright+ crawford + maggs + #7 for rubio+baron
if its OKC
wright + maggs + cj/belli + #7 for rubio + whoever
ideally….we win the draft or come in second and dont even have to worry about this so we can just trade for a 3 and grab rubio and run:
PG: ellis – rubio
SG: jackson – morrow
SF: (hedo/odom/artest) – buki
PF: randolph
C: andris – turiaf
and if that doesnt end up workin out, we can move rubio to the 1 and either ship ellis or play ellis at the 2

I don’t see much downside, Rubio can’t be any worse than montay at point guard and I hear he plays defense? Also being a Eurokid I bet he can ride a moped without hurting himself. Don’t you think Rubio , Rony, Rudolf, Wright is more useful than Dris, Rony, Rudolf, Wright?
Now wheres the rubbers? Whose got the rubbers?
I noticed there's so many of them
and there's really not that many of us.

We going to draft Patrick O’Bryant! AGAIN!
The draft lottery NEVER goes our way
but PLEASE JEBUS, gives us a top 3 pick! If we don’t pick in the top 3, we need to trade up! I don’t want to risk not getting him by staying put at our spot.
I Concur
100%.
Raiders- draft crabtree this sat please.
Dubs- Draft Rubio Please! if not Ricky, i’d happily take brandon jennings as a second option. This video of him exites me.
too bad jennings
has been garbage out of high school

If the Dubs want Rubio
We need to think of packages to get to #2, because that’s where he’s going thanks to guys like Monroe deciding to go back to school.
I’d be more than happy to offer Washington the #7, Wright, and a rotation guy (Marco, Morrow, Kelenna) for #2 and Songaila should they end up there.
Actually
Rubio played pretty good in the Olympics especially against the U.S. But, for some reason I don’t think the Warriors should try to pursue him.
If you want a success story just take a look at mine.

"morrow for a weak ass pg from spain NO THANK YOU!"
I dont think this kid is gonna be weak, i seriously think Rubio will P@wn. Not saying trade morrow, just saying the kid is probably going to be special.
Haha
Rubio’s probably going to be a special PG, but I wouldn’t go so far as to trade Morrow for him! That’s cray-zee talk!!!

I Know Wall...
…said he wasn’t going to be in the draft, but I heard (I think it was in an ESPN Chat) he still may be thinking about it. If he does, that could help us to get Rubio, or Wall if we wanted…
Wall might be in
Kid still hasn’t passed his SAT’s. Plus, if he challenges and loses, it’ll still be resolved fast enough for him to go to a major program with a free scholarship
if we could somehow get wall
we gotta get him!
he’s going to be amazing imo

Stern hates Cohan for not paying taxes EVER, but loves Rowell for his marketing scams.
I doubt we’ll get the rig. Stern owes the T-Wolves for letting Garnett walk.

Regarding BJennings
He’s an undersized scoring PG, though that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
Ellis to the RIM!
Monta for the win?! YES!
its a bad thing for the warriors...

and rubio doesnt happen….i think either lawson or holiday are going to be our best bets (obviously depending on how they do at camp…which im expecting and hoping holiday impresses the dubs cuz he has the vision and defensive capabilities that the warriors need…and size)
