Why Hate Marco?
Lets be Honest..... We arent going to get baron back and truth is.... i dont want him. Lets try to develop Marco into our point/backup point. He runs the offense smoothly and hes about the 2nd or 3rd best shooter on the team. His dribbling is smooth and he plays good defense. Monta doesnt move the ball well but hes a good ball handler. Marco is a playmaker. Everyone is all over Morrow and i like him yet he is only a shooter. We need him but in a 10-15 mpg role. Bellinelli can play with Monta at the guard spot and we would be fine. I say play this lineup most.
Pg Monta/Marco
SG Marco/Monta/Jackson
SF/ Jackson/Maggette/Azubuike
PF Randolph/Wright
C Biedrins/ Ronny
Marco has played very well when given consistent time this year. Much more consistent than Morrow and he is about 3-4 years younger than Morrow. Hes got alot of room to grow. Much more than Morrow.
Please dont trade the player besides Randolph that keeps me watching. DONT TRADE HIM.

ive been saying he's our answer at PG
Monta is not our Pg of the future so Rocky fits perfect with Monta being 6’5 he can guard the other teams 2G.

Marco is good but he is not the answer at PG
Everyone knows that Monta is the answers. All Monta needs is just practice and time to grow over the offseason. Plus next year I do think Monta could be our point guard of the future because he could ask Baron for some tips. Baron learned everything he knows from J-Kidd so why can’t he teach Monta?

agreed but marcos handles and creative ability
can aid monta. Why cant monta/marco develop into a similar backcourt to tony parker/ginobili….. i know i’m going to get attacked for comparing them to 2 all stars. But personally i think its not far as far fetched as you may initially believe. Parkers game is the most similar or any pg to monta, lighting quick, not much of a jumper initially, Still cant shoot the 3 and only recently has the assist to TO ratio become better (when parker was 23 he avg’d 5.8 apg and 3.1 to). Marco to ginobili is a far bigger stretch but they have similar characteristcs.. Ginobili is just incredibly more mature player, and its hard to say if marco is just young and growing or if he’ll always be this kind of wild streaky sg. What he can do is share some handling ability, drive and dish, shoot from outside, and at times has shown a real tenacity for defense. Personally I just think its going to take the right coach to get his full potential out of him. As much as i love nellie ball, i doubt nelson puts in the real effort that pop puts on every defensive possession.
for me the potential of monta/marco backcourt is high. But thats all it is… POTENTIAL

terrible logjam plus where is our rookie? that lineup wouldnt work. hes a good player but not a 2o-30 minute a night guy. he isnt then next manu by any means. hell be a good 6th man in the nba but not a great starter. lets be honest our 2007 draft is looking shaky right now. marco an wright are gunnu be shopped around in trades this offseason an wright is gunnu be a backup next season an marco is a good player but morrow seems to be the favorite to stick around. plus if we keep him where do we go in the draft? sf? wit maggs an buike already fighting for minutes?shooting guard? we already have to many. point?if marco is playing point with monta hed just sit on the bench and were set at power forward an center. i like him but i dont see where he fits in. and nellie even said we need passing, what type of message does that send when he on ce said we want marco at point?

I mean, obviously on this site (and on the internet in general) you get used to a kind of relativism in which every “opinion” is as good as any other … but, c’mon, with something as readily provable as a player’s age — something that pops up first thing in almost every google entry??
Seriously, what kind of person takes the time to write a diary whose main thesis hinges on a declarative statement like
[Marco] is about 3-4 years younger than Morrow.
???
Basically, you’re dealing with either (1) a complete idiot; (2) a malicious or pathological liar; or (3) an incredibly lazy person. Being a semi-charitable dude, I’m going with #3 as a best bet, though the longer the diarist leaves up the statement, the more you want to suspect something worse.
And actually, as a lazy person myself, I understand that there’s a kind of intellectual laziness that in effect borders on malice. See: Bush, George W.

+3700 to your lineup bro.
I am the obnoxious optimist.
I would hire you as WARRIORS OWNER/GM anyday over the punks we have now.
But realistically, I have no faith with the idiots running our organization.
Be prepared for another heartbreaking offseason and be prepared to vent like a mutha effer.
I have a feeling GSoM will get really ugly come summertime and beyond.
I really hope I am dead wrong, but my loyal Warrior State of Mind is really pessimistic on how our team is going to be next season.
Being overly pessimistic, I think Monta, AB, BW, JC, and Marco will be gone because of the Jerk FO’s. We will trade for Bosh and whatever leftover scrubs. Bosh will play for the first 7 games and tear his ACL. Be done for the rest of the season. Leaving us with this lineup:
PG – AR
SG – A-Mo
SF – Buike
PF – Kurz
C – Turiaf
I’ll be on GSoM blabbering my arse off on how GOOD OF A TEAM WE ARE STILL and cheering for the Dubs at the games like an idiot.
Thank you Cohan, Rowell and the New General Manager Don Nellie for making the best fans in the NBA look sooo stupid and showing how much you give a damn about us.

by buky on Apr 9, 2009 6:29 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
Marco evolved from outright bust to respectable PT backup SG and, like half the roster, injuries have torpedoed his season. He has not shown he’s capable of playing PG, a poor man’s Ginobli? Perhaps, from the wing he can drive and kick, and occasionally hit the outside shot. To even suggest he should start on this team much less at PG is ludicrous until he shows more, a lot more, than he’s showed so far. KAz is a better player, not to mention Jax, Maggette. Some people put AM in front of MB as well. Debatable.
He plays the most over staffed position on the team, and we’d be smart to either use him or some of the other SG in a trade if possible. If that means he stays as a backup, fine. Leaves in a trade, fine. All the hand-wringing over a PT backup is a bit baffling.

where were you when he actually got 30-35 minutes a game
he scored about 15-20 points in most of those games on pretty good shooting with nice assists
what you said can be exactly said about Jackson. Occasionally hits outside, perhaps drive from the wing and kick
by montadaboss on Apr 10, 2009 8:59 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
we should keep him if possible
crawford, buike etc may be better than him now but they r also older. Think of belinelli in 3 years when he’s buike’s age or 7 when he’s crawfords etc etc. He’s an ideal backup cause of his upside + contract. I think he’ll develop into a starter
by tafkasam on Apr 12, 2009 11:36 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Crawford, BW, Belli
These seem to be the three guys that we are shopping. Of these, I actually think that Marco has the most value to us as compared to his trade value, due to his size, ball handling, and defensive abilities. He is also the only player we have right now that we can play with Monta in the backcourt so that Monta can play off the ball. BWright would be next because of the position he plays and his low-post abilities (far superior to Turiaf or Randolph in that department, and maybe even better than AB, for now). Also, that shoulder injury hurt his trade stock quite a bit. Dislocated shoulders are never the same and any team looking at him would have to take that into account. It doesn’t mean that he can’t reach his full potential as a player, but that injury will always be with him. If we were to move BW, we would have to be getting a big man in return, and Crawford would need to be part of the deal. Speaking of the Crawfish, I do think he is the only one of the three that actually has more value in a trade than he does to our team, due entirely to his scoring ability and the fact that our offense totally stagnates when he is the primary ball handler.

I pretty much agree with everything
by GoldenStateGuerrero on Apr 9, 2009 12:38 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
except for Crawford having the most trade value...
No one wants his contract in this economy. He’s virtually untradeable unless we package him with someone else who is undervalued to make it “worth it” to the other side. The only guys we have right now who fall into that “undervalued” category are Turiaf, Azubuike and Randolph; and maybe Wright. Or our first-round pick this year…
So, the question becomes: how badly do you want to get rid of Crawford?
One thing I will guarantee: dude ain’t opting out and walking away from +$20MM over the next 2 years. If his agent tries to convince him to, he should fire him.
by b.radley on Apr 11, 2009 10:02 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
the first rounder
that’d be the route i’d go depending on where we’re picking and who’s on the board. crawford+the pick for some expiring deal or a much cheaper contract if the team we’re dealing with has cap space (and ideally some interesting young player, but i won’t hold my breath). in a draft this thin, i would be pleased to use that pick to get some salary off the books

I've seen nothing but improvement from Belli
And I expect nothing less next season. He lost weight, got more physical on d and learned to fight through screens, something that only 15% of our 9 guards can do. (completely made up lazy stat in honor of the OP) So I hope we dont trade him, he and AR are my two favorite players to watch right now…

he's a large reason we need to move crawford and potentially maggs.
i want more minutes for marco at the 2 guard. monta, marco, jack w/ watson, morrow, buike as backup 1,2,3 is good enough. Morrow shows a great ability to be a floor spacer and marksmen. A good bench shooter to bring on but i think marco shows much more upside as an all around player w/ defense, handles, penetration etc

He’s not great but he’s better at the point than he is at the 2 spot. His ball handling and passing are better than our other guards which is nothing to be proud of. I’d consider marco or CJ about equal as far as back up point guard value is concerned, both are something we can live with or without.

i just make posts based on personal experience playing basketball
and of guys on the warriors i would like to play with
Marco
Randolph
Wright
Azubuike
Crawford
biedrins
the 5 i would hate to play with would be
Jackson
Monta
watson
I dont know if you guys just like to watch basketball but i love to play it. playing it helps me determine who is actually a better player.
I would love to play with Marco because hes a good teammate, good passer, good shooter, and a good defender. I can pass to him and know i probably will get it back and if i give him a good pass i’m pretty certain he will make the shot.
Randolph plays with great emotion, plays help defense, gets boards and finishes on good passes.enough said
Wright plays help defense, gets boards(mainly on the offensive glass), blocks shots, and finishes. Basically a guy who does great when given shots but doesnt need the ball to help. Finishes, blocks shots and gets putbacks.
Azubuike just plays well. He can drive without passing but if i pass at the right time, he’ll finish. He is a great spot-up shooter so i can kick it out when driving.
Crawford. Dont hate, i may be one of the few that prefer Crawford over Jackson. The offense runs more smoothly with Crawford than Jackson. He is a guy who can get hot and help your team. He can win games for you but with that said he can lose games for you. Thats why when on a bad night we give him limited touches. He can create for you and is willing to pass usually.
Biedrins. He gets boards at will and is very aggressive.
HATE!!!!
Jackson-He is a ball hog, takes bad shots, complains and leaves you undermanned on the break, and he thinks he is a star. Thats not a good teammate.
Monta- As a shooting guard….yes but not at point. Possibly one of the worst passing starting points in the league. PLays no defense whatsoever even with his athletic ability and speed(unlike crawford who tries but simply isnt very good in that part).
Watson…. MEDIOCRE!!!!!!!! Just is a 3 point shooter, honestly isnt a good passer or dribbler. Not a good defender.
by montadaboss on Apr 9, 2009 9:51 PM PDT reply actions 1 recs
worst passing starting points in the league?
hes been playing ‘point’ for like what….15 games? now your comparing him to the whole league??
monta is one of the few players that has shown on our team that he can improve specific aspects of his game dramatically over an off season (his mid range jumper last/previous to last was a HUGE improvement from previous years)…he may just as well be able to add strong court vision/passing abilities as well
i wouldnt count monta our after barely ANY games…especially when the games mean nothing other than to let the new guys get experience and monta get back in shape
