Off Season Trades..
I think that the dubs should make trade proposals to the Nuggets and the Bobcats. We trade Maggs, and Bwright (which makes it hard to see that they would accept) for Gerald wallace. Also Monta and Davidson for Chauncy.
I think there is a possiblilty that the Bobcats would take Mages and BWright because i can see BWright really helping them out as a back up to Diaw or even Okafor because Wright is tall and has long arms and he can easilyget rebounds and i think that he would fit perfectly with a pretty slow paced team. Also for the Dubs i can see Gerald Wallace as a great fit because one he is not a ball hog, he is super athletic (and undertrated), he can take it in and has a respectable mid ranged game, with the ability to make the occasional 3 point shot. Also would really help our Defense.
And this is the hard one. I kind of see this as a fantasy trade because i know for a fact that Denver really doesnt want another AI on their team. In my oppinion Chauncy is one of the Elite "true Points" out there and Monta is just a guy that wants to score, and isnt really great at making assitis. Dont get me wrong i love monta but i owuld soo be willing to trade him for Billups, Rose, or Even Rondo, but i really dont think that those teams would want or even need monta. Honestly Chauncy is great he could help be a leader to the team right next to Jax, and very great at driving and makign plays for other players, and he is pretty deadly from the 3point line. I thinke he would really help us out. This will obviously never happen, but its nice to dream. Right?

wallace is great but...
If we landed Wallace we’d be a very scary team to play against. Our defense would greatly improve and we’d have another high flier on the team.
Monta
Jack
Wallace
Randolph
Biedrins
But with Billups… It just aint going to happen. Ever. He single handedly made one of the worst defensive team in the NBA to a top defensive team.
I’m sure Denver is so eager to trade Billups right now. What has he done for them lately anyway?
Thing A
I heard he beens average 20+ in the playoffs and is a big part of their franchise...
I bet they’re just waiting for Billups to get a ring then trade him.

The Warriors, where “Thiers always next year” happens.
There's a party in my mind.
And I wish that I was there.
We should have done that Billiups for Davis trade last year (if it was indeed true).
Warriors, Stupidest franchise in the league.
i was all over that
i remember there were a lot of haters for that trade too. where are they now?
Would it really take BWright?
I’m curious about what kind of value Wallace has in the minds of GMs in comparison to Maggette. It’s higher, I’m sure, but by how much? His contract is pretty similar to Maggs’, and both players were overpaid in free agency. Maggette is better offensively, Wallace better defensively. Both have histories of injury, though Wallace’s is a bit worse I think.
I could be off here, but I think Maggs + Belinelli is a reasonable offer.
wallace- MUCH better defender, better rebounder, better passer, better shooting percentage, less injury prone
maggette- gets to line more,
wallace is going to be 27 next season with 3 years left and an option for 4 almost 41mil (last year he is owed 11.5)
maggette will be 30 and is owed 4 years 39.6mil
hes a good defender and he is a good dunker :)
and when you look at the numbers for this season he is the same as ak 47 and he is still getting better while ak is going down hill
ME8 for MVP
hes a good defender and he is a good dunker :)
I’m not quite sure where the fairly common misconception (common around here at least) that Outlaw is a good defender came from. I’ve never been at all impressed with his defense and several Portland fans visiting GSoM have stated that he’s one of the worst defensive players on their team. He may be above average on OUR team, but that doesn’t make him a good defender. AK47 on the other hand IS a very, very good defender. As for being a good dunker…..maybe we can see if Harold Minor is interested in coming back instead.
when you look at the numbers for this season he is the same as ak 47
Their offensive numbers aren’t all that different, though Kirilenko is much better passer. But the main difference is on the defensive end where Kirilenko is still an elite defender with the ability to defend at least 3 different positions. Now lets see, another young athletic forward who loves to throw up 3’s and doesn’t play much defense or a tough defender with good floor vision who puts up just as good of offensive numbers as the first guy? Which would help the Warriors more? Oh, and AK47s contract will be a great trade chip in another year too.
Thing A
true
but but why would we want a guy if we are just waiting for his contract to run out? he doesnt demand alot of shots and i think he is a great defender and doesnt have to start. got some 6th man of the year votes and he is more of a leader then ak. i like wallace but there are only so many shots to go around between him jak, me8, beans randolph morrow buike and the rookie coming in
ME8 for MVP
we wouldn’t JUST be waiting for AK’s contract to run out, thats just an added bonus. Know who else doesn’t demand many shots, comes off the bench, received even more 6th man of the year votes and actually IS a great defender (not just in your mind)? Kirilenko.
Thing A
Supporting the idea that Kirilenko is a much better defender — and much better player — than Outlaw:
Plus-minus/Roland
Kirilenko 8.1/8.4 (both best on the Jazz, by far)
Outlaw -4.3/-1.6 (both eighth best on the Blazers).
There’s also zilch to support the idea that Outlaw is “getting better while AK is going downhill.” Kirilenko is 28 and was a bit better than last season than the season before. Outlaw is 24 (25 in Sept) and is a bit worse.
Also, AK’s contract is not just a fabulous expiring in two years — it’s also big enough (almost $16M per) that it might allow is to rid ourselves of TWO of three-headed Craw/Jack/Maggs albatross. Outlaw ($4M next season) wouldn’t even allow us to get rid of one of them, thereby exacerbating our logjam at forward (Jack/Buki/Maggs/Wright/Randolph).
Just say no to Travis Outlaw. Heck, I’d rather have Bo Outlaw.

its your guys' opinion. i just think when outlaw gets to his peak he will be a better player.
he also shoots a very good 3 point percentage as a bonus. and id rather have a good 6th man like outlaw and have azebuike start rather then having him come of the bnch an having ak start. buike is a solis starter an he should be given the oppurtunity to prove he can do it over a full season
ME8 for MVP
What makes you think Outlaw hasn’t reached his peak? His age 24 season was not measurably better than his age 22 or age 23 seasons. Very few NBA players improve appreciably after age 24. Heck, AK-47 was one of the top 8-10 all-around players in the NBA at age 23-24, and has declined since then. (Though I still think he could return to that form, out from under Sloan’s iron fist, in Nellie’s freewheeling system).
As far as shooting, Outlaw’s career “true shooting percentage” — which factors in 3 pt shooting — is still miles worse than AK-47’s : .513 to AK-47’s .570 (though in fairness, last year it was much closer than that).
More importantly, you seem to have blissfully ignored the defensive end of the equation. As a couple of posts here have noted, Kirilenko is an elite defensive player while Outlaw is not even a good one — a widely-held observation borne out by the fact that last season AK-47 made his team much better when he was on court while Outlaw made his team worse.
But yeah, you’re entitled to your opinion. Did part of any part of your opinion propose a trade package that Portland might be interested in? Or is it your opinion that, despite the fact that he’s a budding star, Portland will just give him to us? And if, magically, they do just give him to us, and Azubuike deserves to start, how do you propose we divide 96 forward minutes among Outlaw, Buike, Jackson, Maggette, Randolph, and Wright?

no i was just
saying that id like to have him and there is no doubt kirlenko is a great defender i just think outlaw would work moutbetter with us then ak would. and im assuming that maggs an wright will be gone

wallace
i rlly like the idea of wallace. Our d would be much improved. if we let get rid of wright just sign a decent pf to back up randolph and we are set. chauncy wood solve alot of problems at the pg but its not gonna happen
I disagree.
I could be off here, but I think Maggs + Belinelli is a reasonable offer.
Giving up BWright is about right, and besides there is no reason to trade Belinelli be cause in my oppinion i can see him as our PG. It may seem crazy to sum people, but he can really make plays for other players. and he has a decent long range/mid Range game.
J-Rich, Boom Dizzle and Matt Barnes will always be missed
lol dude if we can get chauncy then well get chauncy..lol chauncys a 3rd all team nbaer
and a true leader in this league
Who got the memo?
I wasn’t aware that GSoM policy required that someone propose another ’let’s trade for Gerald Wallace’ thread’ at least once every three weeks or so. Why am I always the last to be informed of these things?
I say we draft Jrue Holliday! Either him, or DeMar DeRozan, Tyreke Evans, Brandon Jennings, or Ty Lawson.
Hahaha i thought the same thing minus the pic.
Warriors, Stupidest franchise in the league.
it’s the offseason for the warriors which means it’s trade proposal season on GSoM! i, for one, am excited. we should be able to bump the wallace posts up to once every two weeks and i think we should be able to get an ak47 one in every week too. that one’s heating up and jazz fans aren’t super opposed. let’s beat it into the ground!
while it is important to make sure that we get plenty of repetition, it’s also key to get a new post every day about why we should draft some guy picked in the mid to late first round in most mocks with our top pick. let me get the ball rolling on that one now: patrick mills. did you see that guy in the olympics? he and monta would be the fastest backcourt in the nba, plus he’s a pure point. who’s with me? patty mills at the 7!
heart of a champion, will of the warrior.
hmmm, blair would solve all of our rebounding problems, but in the end, the world’s fastest backcourt is just too sweet to pass up. though, if jeff teague is somehow still on the board when we pick, i think we’ve got to consider it. he and monta would score 60 points per night. forget defense and passing, teague cures our scoring issues.
heart of a champion, will of the warrior.
Maybe it’s because of the playoffs, but Patrick Mills reminds me of Aaron Brooks…But with less range and more of a slasher. I wonder how he can play off the ball. Is his shot good enough?
Warriors, Stupidest franchise in the league.
i definitely think mills could be a decent player. i don’t see him as an off guard guy at all; he’s only 6 feet, but he should find a home somewhere as a pace-pushing backup pg. he’ll be okay. there’s more than a few teams who could use a guy like him (sarcasm about us drafting him at aside, i do like him as a player).
heart of a champion, will of the warrior.
MAYNOR.
Even if we pop the #1.
Or, just trade the #1 for an established superstar like Artest, Alston, or Jermaine O’Neal. We don’t need any more kids.

sorry if I'm not picking up on the sarcasm
You’d really rather pay Jermaine O’Neal 21 million dollars than Blake Griffin 2 mil? His contract is probably the albatross contract in the league.

Most Sense
Trade (Maggette + ? + Ronny) for Boozer to help our big man game. Randolph is awesome. We need to allow him to develop. We should draft Ty Lawson to be our “true” point guard which will allow us to move Monta back to Shooting Guard #1
Does Boozer want to play here? Any trade talk involving him has to address that first, since, as a free agent, a trade for him will mean sign-and-trade. After than, the "why would Utah take back our trash to help us get Boozer is the next question.
maggette + turiaf would help them.
maggette is scoring efficient wing they need. Turiaf would add front court depth theyre lacking when boozer leaves + millsap becomes a starter.
we need to keep Turiaf AND Beans
IMO, they are key to our future. They are young bigs that complement each other, have great attitudes AND are on the upswing.
I liked Sleepy’s suggestion that AK’s contract could make a Maggette + Crawford trade possible but I can’t see how. The combined salaries of our guys is more than $2million greater than AK’s and I don’t see any $2mill dross Salt Lake would care to unload our way.
Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.
The reason that Utah would want to move Kirilenko is because of his contract. He’s a productive player, but it’s my take that he’s perceived as less productive than his $17mil+ contract. Trading him for two players whose no-defense policies aren’t likely to win favor with Sloan, who aren’t younger and have contracts that are combined larger and either equal in length or longer? That is not going to happen. Any talk of “but Utah needs instant offense off the bench” is dwarfed by those realities.
i'd tend to agree
they’d take maybe 1 of the 2 but noway they take both. They dont need 2 instant offense 6th men
Thus
This, as I previously advocated.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=d6ah2f
They drop salary, take on the better of our two “bad contract” players, get real “instant offense”, and take on two interesting young players. Meanwhile, we get to force Jamal out, and run out a starting line up of Monta/Jax/Kirilenko/Randolph/Biedrins with Buike, Crawford, Turiaf, and our #1 pick coming off the bench… and I’d even push to try to get Utah’s #1 this year as well (#19), but that might be asking too much.

Let Kawakami drive up the "KG in 2006 talks again"
Or was it 2007? I forget.
Golden State’s Stephen Jackson might be had in exchange for Josh Howard, a Don Nelson favorite. With Chandler and Jackson, the Mavs would be significantly better defensively and offensively. Of course, if you take away Howard, you create another hole, but it’s a risk the Mavs may be willing to take. Dallas Morning News (Per Hoopshype)
So my NBA Live ’10 roster for today would look like:
Biedrins, Wright, Belinelli for Bosh
Stack Jack for Howard straight up
Tyreke Evans/ Brandon Jennings at # 7
PG: Tyreke, Cj Disaster
SG: Monta, Morrow
SF: Howard, Kabookie
PF: Randolph, Bad Porn
C: Bosh, Turiaf
Put Crawford wherever you want. Hopefully some agent/team misinforms him into opting out thinking a team wants to sign him long-term. The upside of trading Stack Jack for Howard? If Howard doesn’t work out, he has a team option the year after next making him a nice expiring contract this season.
What is meant by
“if you take away Howard, you create another hole” Don’t Jackson and Howard play the same position?
I don’t know about the rest of Maverick fans, but I would take Jackson for Howard. I know his contract goes past next season, but having a few guys on the books past next season isn’t going to cause them to not be able to sign an all-star in the 2010 free agent pool.
S-St. Louis, R-Rams, D-Dallas, M-Mavericks, A-Arizona, D-Diamondbacks.
I think the writer meant
that Jackson could very well play the 2 and 3 spots while Howard is better suited to the SF position.
We have so many if’s and “hope so’s” this offseason. I’m resigned to the possibility we’re going to open up the year with the same exact roster + a rookie +/- a Kurz/Watson. =/
Wallace....
is good and all…defense presence…but i dont think he works well in the don nelson system. He would help with our defense problems but he needs to score as well. As far as I know (and thats not too much about the bobcats) he is too inconsistent offensively. I could see him doing well as a “ronny” on the team but anything more than that….no.
As far as the chancy thing goes, yeah it be nice to have him and its all good to dream, but at times, im a realist and we arent getting him. He helped turn denver around but he’s old and won’t do much for us in the long run. Im not willing to part with much to get him either.
if we end up trading swings like
buike +belinelli in conjunction for a bosh…. what if we did crawford 4 mike miller. blah miller had a down year, but hes a capable role player who can hit shots, pass, doesnt turn it over alot (compared to rest of dubs) and has an expiring contract which matches up w/crawford.
lets assume we did bosh + banks (we’re going to have to take banks or kapono) 4 biedrins, randolph, belinelli, buike…
pull this trade our team would look…
PG: monta/ banks
SG: jack/ morrow/ banks
SF:Miller/ maggette
PF: Bosh/ Bwright
C: Turiaf/ New C /bosh-bwright
throw in a new big and a draft pick which will likely (based on who will be BPA at 7) draft a pg or swing. Lastly having miller would be great come trade deadline…. 10 mil expiring + another player we could aquire a key player if we’re looking promising, which i’d suggest doing instead of just letting it expire
I think thats giving up too much for Bosh. Switching Wright for Randolph in that deal would make it a whole lot easier to swallow, and I don’t think Toronto is gonna get many offers better than that. A very good 23 year old center locked up for several years at a reasonable price is pretty valuable. Sending them a complete under-25 frontcourt with an already above average center, a very good rotational wing, and a forward with some realistic potential to be even better than the one they are shipping out seems a bit excessive. Oh, and with your new lineup we would be, once again, totally pathetic on the boards.
Thing A
I don't want Bosh if it means giving up Beans.
Bosh isn’t the center I want. He can play PF on a championship team. If it takes more than that to get him, I’ll happily pass and wait for AR to become a better CB.
Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.
how so?
dunleavey is a bad coach for that team. Because of that, Baron has took a step backwards. Camby and Kaman are quality bigmen in a rotation (although kaman is overpaid) Randolph is awfully overpaid and plays less D than the warriors. Gordon and Thorton are nice younger peices and the rest of the bench is awful.
