With the 7th pick in the 2009 SBNation Mock Draft Golden State of Mind selects...
First off, thanks to all 850+ of you who voted on such short notice. Apologies for not including Arizona PF Jordan Hill in the poll. Hill wouldn't have won the vote, but it would have been interesting to see how many votes he would have collected.
I salute you for voting!

I just hope Riley, Nelson and co. don’t just forget about a top 5 rated prospect like we did just because of Tim Kawakami’s latest fiction.

I’m guessing that’s not going to be a factor in their decision making considering Nelson does whatever he wants despite the media calling him evil/crazy/vengeful whatever. I think Marcus Williams, Al Harrington, Jamal Crawford’s agent, Anthony Randolph, Rob Kurz and Marcus Williams would agree.
Riley, Nelson and co. = Nelson
He’ll take the who he considers the BPA

Personally I might have voted for Hill even though I didn’t take the time to post his name in the thread. It’s hard to compete with the Brandon Jennings and JRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hype around here, but I think Hill might have grabbed a sruprising number of votes if the people who looked at the poll thought he was available.

Hill wouldn't have won the vote?
How do you know if you won’t give him a chance?
Now wheres the rubbers? Whose got the rubbers?
I noticed there's so many of them
and there's really not that many of us.

when a top 5 rated prospect is on the board you don’t generally assume he’ll be listed as “other”

yeah.
Kind of like how the We Believe Warriors weren’t given a chance. 21 games in the regular season, 2 series in the Playoffs and all of a sudden they get broken up like that. lol.

Does anyone have any footage of Jennings finsishing around contact?
All of the highlights I’ve seen on Youtube show him finishing largely uncontested. Just curious to see that aspect. Makes me kind of leery if the “highlights” don’t include that.

You should be leery of highlights whether they include that or not…

I am, but the lack of contested finishes is especially disturbing. What top prospect couldn’t cobble together a highlight reel of uncontested breakaway finishes.
It’s not like any of us saw Jennings play to offset the highlights.

Giving it a little thought, I can see where you’re coming from. I’ve seen Jennings play, but he was too busy lighting it up from 3 (high school 3) to bother with any tough finishes.

The thing is, it is impossible to say Hill wouldn’t win by counting the votes from the past thread. Don’t discount the effect of putting him as a name, rather than including him as other.
I think you should do the poll again, just for kicks, to see who would get the most votes if Hill’s name was up there.

I’m all for doing another poll like that. We should have done a community big board counting down the top prospects by doing polls.

Or maybe we should do a poll where Brandon Jennings is “other” and Hill’s name is there. I wonder if the results would be different then? Hmmmmmm…

Jennings looks like the most obvious bust
At least to me. He seems very far from being “grown up” and thinks of hinself as the greatest baller on the planet. He looks like a poor man’s Marbury (poor man’s due to the lack of hoops compared to El Dumpness).
I suspect that he can handle the pressure of the NBA. More over he struggled mightily from the european three point line…not a good sign especially if you picture him playing next to Monta.
