Give Them a Chance

There has been too many ideas suggesting that we should go out and trade for a big name player or even a quality player and risk our young talent and future. Why would want to trade young talent for guys like Gerald Wallace who has already met his potential or a guy like Josh Smith who would make no sense for our team since we already have Randolph. And you can’t have a guy like Josh Smith play small forward and be succesful because he has no shot. And why would we need a guy like Bosh who is an older and less versatile version of Randolph. I’m not even gonna comment about trying to get A.I. I’m not saying the Warriors are going to dominate the NBA in a few years but they are going to be a playoff team and hopefully a championship caliber team. If you get rid of young talent for guys who have never been real winners (Wallace, Smith, Bosh) then you’re not going to win. Don’t you want a team that will win for more than one or two years. If you get rid of young talent for aging veterans then that’s not going to happen. Look at most of the teams that have won in the past and they have either drafted the majority of their talent or had them for most of their career. Just look at San Antonio, starting back with Robinson, Duncan, Ginobli, Parker. Or the Lakers with Kobe, Shaq (majority of his career), and Fisher. My point is that the Warriors have the majority of what they need in order to win, they are just young right now. Even though it can be frustrating to lose year after year, times will change soon and you don’t want to get rid of something that has the chance to be pretty special for years to come for immediate results but then go back into a losing slump. In order to sustain winning over a period of time we have to keep the group together. Just look at the Warriors throughout the last 20 years, they draft a young player or they get him early in his career and then he leaves or gets traded and blossoms into a star for another team or times turn bad after they leave. Do you really need examples (Webber, Jamison, Arenas, Vince Carter(drafted), Richardson, Davis, Tim Hardaway, Penny Hardaway(drafted)? Just give this group at least a chance to mesh together, I mean come on they had so many injuries last season nobody could get a look at how good they can be. This team has talent and if they can stay healthy and stay on the team then they will be a contender for years top come.

we didnt give this squad a chance to prove themselves...well its their fault with the mopeds and injuries

but since we’re stupid and we’ll never hop off the bandwagon,ONE MORE YEAR AS I SAID.

WE DEMAND IMPROVEMENT!

well, maybe because

Bosh is the version of what we HOPE Randolph MIGHT become but adding him now would make us a playoff team now, not years from now … we aren’t giving up all the young talent, but you gotta give somethin to git somethin if you want to be getting to the playoffs with a sense of certainty

by hardcore on Jun 16, 2009 11:12 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Getting Bosh at the expense of Randolph would either come with Biedrins or Monta

And then we’d have to give Bosh at least what Rashard Lewis makes. He’s not worth it. He’s not KG, he’s not Gasol.

Bosh lowered his own trade value by taking a pretty firm stand on FA – at the same time lowering his value to us as well if we’re only renting him (and I’d never advocate that). He’s not KG, but he could be our version of Gasol. All moot as it’s really unlikely now …

Man I just responded to this comment in the other thread. Ugh. All options to improve the Warriors should be on the table.

All options to improve the Warriors should be on the table.

And just about every trade I’ve seen is either thoroughly impossible:

Trade Idea: Tracy McGrady to the W’s
Pass the Mayo please

Or doesn’t really actually help the team:
All remotely fair Bosh proposals

Sometimes doing nothing is better than doing something.

Obviously don't just do nothing because the "something"s in front of you don't look good

Try to find better "something"s, but if nothing better comes along, I don’t want the FO to just do something to justify why they have a job. Their job is to optimize the Warriors personnel situation, not make trades.

“Their job is to optimize the Warriors personnel situation, not make trades.”

Yeah, when I say all options are on the table, that’s basically what I mean. We should be willing to do anything that improves our team. The key is it has to improve the team. And not just a one year improvement, either – it has to be a move that brings the Warriors more total value than we’re losing.

I’m tired of waiting for the future to win, I’ve been waiting for ‘the future’ for 15 years now!

WARRIORS BASKETBALL!!! Patiently waiting for a title...I may be waiting for a long time...

Wow 15 years

Thats commitment. We won’t have to wait another 13 years for another playoff berth. But they are lightyears away from getting another championship.

We be doin' it CROOKLYN style!!!!!

Waiting is starting to get old.
Its the Chris Webber curse. He comes gain and leaves again. That’s another drought right there.

Posts like this make me think TK’s rumors are much better than when reporters write fluff pieces…

by Missing Barry on Jun 18, 2009 12:30 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

If those are the only choices...

Sure, I’ll take the TK crap. It’s so sad that a dose of reality would just be depressing for most readers and they would stop reading the article. Either you’ve got to be positive or you’ve got to be controversial. “The news industry, where spin cycle happens”

Sigh…

And I like hearing the positive stuff, it’s just these fans that are all of a sudden like “OMG RANDOLPH CAN CURL 100 LBS, 5TH BEST PLAYER IN THE NBA” because of an obvious fluff piece. It was a nice article, but come on, Randolph didn’t just double his talent overnight, or anything. We haven’t even seen him touch a basketball since the season ended. When I see him take the court and he looks like a much better basketball player, then I’ll believe it.
