Chris Wilcox?

What is the status of PF Chris Wilcox? I believe he is FA? His is a big, athletic Power Forward. He could possibly prove to be a good addition. He would give us that bigger body down low and still retain our fast paced game. What does everyone think? Can BW & AR man the 4 all season long? Are they big enough? Another question.......Is Jordan Hill really any better than Jamareo Davidson? They are the same size and pretty much the same type of athlete. Can Davidson really offer anything this coming year?

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

I'm down for Wilcox

the guy’s got game, is athletic and know’s how to board. Forget Hill. Lets get rid of Wright. The guy’s just going to get hurt, and when he’s not he’ll throw in some jump hooks but won’t be able to rebound

I think those people are onto something

I like Wilcox and think he can help the Warriors more than whoever they draft and more than Brandan Wright.

Seriously...

I thought he had proven himself not to be trade-thread worthy by now. I guess I was wrong about the standards of the players that a W’s fan will yearn for.

Take Hill

he would be cheaper for a second or third string power forward

Hill vs Wilcox?

gotta agree with Dungeness Crab Dribble & Warriorfan on this one, and it reminds me a bit of how we landed Randolph after he slipped in the draft. Hill was once a sure-fire top 5 pick, now it looks like he’ll go somewhere 6-through-10:

“It sounds like I’m going to drop, but that has more to do with the teams drafting than it has to do with my skills.”

His workout Friday with the Warriors went well by his own account:

I showed my left hand, my mid-range game and my footwork, and another thing I showed is how well I run the floor," Hill said. "I’ve improved more and more, and I’m very coachable.

“I’ve still got lots of room to grow, and I’m waiting for a team to pick me up and help me develop.

That has to sound like music to Nelson’s ears, and maybe explains why he told Hill he wouldn’t get by the Warriors at #7. Then again, that could be a smokescreen, who knows for sure until the 25th.

In any case Hill, with skill in the post and the ability to shoot from 18 feet out offensively plus the capability to challenge shots on defense, plus proven rebounding, plus the stated desire to improve = is a younger and cheaper option with more “upside” than Wilcox at this point.

Wilcox: 6-foot-10, 235 lb., career stats: 22 min pg, 9.3 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 53% FG
Hill: 6-foot-10, 232 lb; at Arizona: 36 min pg, 18.3 ppg, 11 rpg, & 53.7% FG

Clearly Wilcox’s stats are against NBA players and no one is arguing Hill’s stats at Arizona will translate directly into the NBA, but given the choice between the younger, cheaper Hill and Wilcox …

How we pass on Hill is almost beyond me unless Magic Johnson is the PG available to us.
