Battle of the PGS: Jennings, Flynn, Holliday, Lawson, Teague
Minnesota recently brought in all of the highest rated PGs in this year's draft for a workout. As an added bonus, Tyreke Evans, who had a scheduled workout later in the day, decided to work out with the rest of the PGs.
The immediate reaction to the collection of prospects on Friday morning was the physical differences between Evans and the rest of the point guards. Evans hovers over the rest of the competition with his 6-foot-6 frame and 220-pound NBA ready body.
Also, the writer had rave reviews for Jonny Flynn:
Jonny Flynn displayed the type of personality that made him a fan favorite at Syracuse. The speedy point guard would have the same type of effect in the Twin Cities if the Wolves decided to select him at No. 6. The consistency from the 3-point arc may have separated Flynn and Ty Lawson from the four other point guard prospects.
The biggest for me is that Flynn showed that he could knock down shots from the perimeter, which would be important if he were to play alongside Monta.
However, the final rankings for the prospects were as follows:
Timberwolves.com rates the six point guards at the work out:
1. Tyreke Evans - size, athleticism, and upside
2. Brandon Jennings - ball handling skills, can create own shots, flashy, athletic
3. Jonny Flynn - extremely quick, solid outside shot, great personality, leader
4. Jrue Holiday - size, strength, ability to reach the basket
5. Ty Lawson - speed, range from the perimeter, leader
6. Jeff Teague - scoring mentality, defense, improved each year at Wake Forest
They still rate Jennings over Flynn, but surprisingly, they have Evans rated the highest. Granted, this could be based on what the writer perceives to be the biggest need in Minny, but still interesting rankings to say the least.

Jeff Teague
is my favorite player in the draft, and I look forward to seeing how his game translates to in the L. I would like to seem him in a warriors jersey but his stock makes it a reach and his scoring mindset is probably not the best fit.
Well of course Tyreke was impressive he’s taller than all of them.
Brandon Jennings, DeMar DeRozen,or Jrue Holiday a Warrior on June 25.
It’s a conspiracy.

i think we do forget that nellie is going for the record this year
so i would be suprised if he played any of the rookies significant minutes. one time he said rookies get you into losing. i like all these guys but i do not remember any rookies playing for the we believe team? i think flynn would be the best choice for the now but if we wanna go for the home run we should take jennings but he can also fail miserably. high risk high reward or solid but nothing special?
i cant believe people are actually
saying they want teague… i saw we take jennings, and honestly, if he ends up being a bust i will not feel remorse, I just think he’s the guy to take right now. If not then certainly flynn.
id take holiday and curry over flynn
jennings holiday or curry if we are goin for a PG

sounds like you’ve really come around on jennings. i’m back to thinking there will be better players on the board, but jennings is probably the one guy that gets the most changes of opinion.

oh most certainly
i went from jennings jennings jennings! to meh jennings, to hill, to holiday, to FLYNN and now, voila, back to jennings. whose ur top 3 hack? (in order if u got one)
for point guards not named ricky: flynn/curry/lawson, not necessarily in that order, but i really like them a lot. i would be fine with jennings or holiday, but more nervous about them panning out. evans terrifies me, not a good shooter at all, didn’t really excel at anything other than height. i don’t know, but i don’t see it with him.

lol ya
i was a jennings skeptic…but that was because people were hyping him without ANY kinda evidence of how he plays now. but now that the teamworkouts have begun, he seems to be living up to some of the hype….so im down with jennings now that there is some actual substance to what has been said (that i hadn’t really seen b4 from very few replays that just show highlights.
if we’re goin for a pg…ill be happy with: holiday/jennings/curry/evans(altho evans isnt really a pg)
