Finally Clarity in Warrior Land
Based on today's Don Nelsons comments , it seems that a few things have actually been resolved in Warrior land. Seems like a minor accomplishment but with all the recent insanity thats out there regarding this Amare trade, even an ounce of clarity seems like a wonderful thing.
Heres a list of what we now know for sure. Finally:
#1- Steph Curry will NOT be traded
#2- Stephen Jackson will move back to the 3 spot
#3- Don Nelson sees Curry as the future Point Guard
Here are some of the remaining unanswered questions:
#1- Will the Warriors still be able to complete a deal for Amare without Curry?
#2- Will Steph Curry start right away with Monta in the backcourt?
#3- Will Monta mind sliding back to the SG after all this PG talk went down this offseason?
#4- Would the warriors be able to sign Amare in the summer of 2010 if they dont land him this offseason?
Overall I am excited about the idea of having Curry on this team for years to come. The thought of trading the guy along with Beans etc. sounds crazy to me. I think Nelson and the management know that the warriors have the upper hand and that Amare will become a free agent after this season anyways. We have a young nucleus of that's very talented, plenty of cap space to sign a max free agent deal in 2010, and the coaching staff and front office that seem to be on the same page. For the first time since I can remember, and god I hope someone is knocking on wood, I actually feel semi comfortable with the current mindset of the warriors front office (ducking...taking cover...).
Wow. Did I really just say that?
Go Warriors.

Curry will not start next season just becuase he is a rookie
but there is a chance to get amare if they go with this deal
BEANS, Wright, Marco
the PHX suns agreed to this deal until we drafted Curry.

not quite
My understanding is that Phoenix tentatively agreed to a deal that included Biedrins, Wright, Belinelli and #7, but this was all assuming that Curry wouldn’t be there. But when he was, the Warriors then couldn’t include the pick. So that’s the stalemate. I don’t think this happens with just Biedrins, Wright, and Belo. We’d have to throw in Azubuike or a 1st next year, which we should do in a heartbeat.

or a 1st next year, which we should do in a heartbeat
… huh, maybe we should think that one through a bit?
Amare (&Bosh) are FA at that point, one will go to NYK w/LJ maybe, but not both and their franchises know there’s something worse than taking less now – it’s taking zip when they walk as FA. So let’s not bid against ourselves here. That #1 has some serious value, let’s not just throw it in there for the hell of it

let me clarify
“If the Warriors make the playoffs in 2011, the Nets will get Golden State’s first-round pick that year. If not, the Nets get Golden State’s pick in 2012, as long as it is not 1 through 11, or the Warriors’ pick in 2013, as long as it is not 1 through 10. If the Nets are not awarded any of those picks, they will instead acquire Golden State’s second-round picks in 2013 and 2015.”

or in other words… we can’t trade our 2010 1st pick – even if we miss the playoffs b/c we might have to trade that pick in 2011 and you can’t trade picks in subsequent years…
i believe we can draft a player in 2010 and trade him afterward, but we cannot trade the pick beforehand.

I think Curry is a different kind of rookie though
He’s basketball pedigree. The whole concept of adapting to the pro basketball world will not be as foreign as it is to 99% of all other rookies. I think being a former pro’s kid goes a long way towards maturity in the NBA finding your rhythm.

Plus he was a 3rd year collegiate player.
Even with his body he was able to do 10 bench press reps (Randolph did 7, Wright 2 & Monta 0), so he should be more equipped to play against grown men than they were coming out.

HMMM...
Curry staying is okay w/ me, but I don’t know why everyone’s one Biedrin’s nuts! He’s not that good! I’m not saying I don’t want him on the team, but if we could get Amare for him and some other players that don’t or won’t even get to play, then why not!
Anyone remember when Biedrins hurt his foot, how well the team played w/o him and w/ Turiaf in the lineup? That’s because we actually played defense w/ Turiaf in there! We may have missed some rebounding, but rebounding can be a collective effort! Problem is that not many others besides Biedrins, Buike and Morrow do much rebounding!
My point is that I’m on the fence about trading away Curry, but not for trading away Biedrins! I say if we can get away w/ trading Biedrins, Wright, and Belinelli for Amare…GO FOR IT! If they add Curry, then I’d want Bell too!
Geeez Louf*ckingweeez!!!

? Raja Bell was traded to the Bobcats in the Jason Richardson – Boris Diaw deal.

Don’t take anything Nellie says at face value. The man is a straight liar and is the master of mind games. Remember how he told Jordan Hill during dinner(I’m para-phrasing),“if you’re available at 7th, we’re taking you.” So we’re not out of the woods just yet. I will believe it when I see it.

totally agree about nellie
but to be honest its a smart move to not show your hand regarding the draft. I would do the same thing so I don’t think this point is relevant. . However I do agree we aren’t out of the woods. Don’t think you ever are if your a warriors fan.
by cuse7284 on Jun 26, 2009 7:05 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
To be fair, Nellie probably thought it was true at the time. At the time it seemed like a given that either the Wiz or Timberwolves were going to take Curry at eithr 5 & 6 or that NY was going to move up to 5 for him. Even after the trade, it took Crazy Kahn drafting 2 PGs for Curry to drop to us.
the exact quote was:
“He said if I’m not picked in the top six,” Hill said, “they’re probably going to take me.”
http://www.insidebayarea.com/search/ci_12581069?nclick_check=1
Nellie also pretty much said “we’re taking Randolph”
As Golden State’s Nelson said, if Randolph is still on the board at No. 14, the team picking 15th, Phoenix, can start looking elsewhere.

sounds good
if we are really keeping Curry, then the trade proposed doesn’t hurt as much.

Nelson to J. HIll: "You won't get passed us at #7."
And with the 7th pick, the Warriors select Steph-ON Curry ….

what the average SG height
6’4-6’6 monta and curry are i think 6’3 it shouldnt be that tough for one of them to matchup. The dont trust Nellie rule still applies but there are still maybe combos we can play with (buike, jackson, morrow, curry, maggs) playing the 2 positions.
I do think the Amare deal can work still even if curry is off the board. They may want buike as a consilation prize though.Still hope some deal is reached though
by Warriorfan on Jun 26, 2009 7:21 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
i think the problem is more weight… most SGs are going to have 20-40 lbs on Monta/Curry. at least Curry was able to bench 185 lbs 10×. Monta did 0 at the combine, but he was a high school kid while Curry was a JR in college.

Houston's
Backcourt is relatively small and doesnt look like they sucked all that bad..Brooks,Wafer, the wrecking ball kid? cant remember his name for the life of me
by highflya on Jun 26, 2009 9:50 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
uh… 1st of all their real SG is McGrady, but even minus him their preferred line up w/o T-Mac is Brooks, Battier, Artest, Scola & Yao.
2nd, Von Wafer is listed at 6’5" 210.

Thank you homer
UHHHHHHHH……you are absolutely right!! In light of your quick trigger to roast me, i was referring to Arron Brooks 6’1 161lbs and Kyle lowry 6"0 205lbs(i couldnt remember his name so i said Wafer then remembered and posted below my original post). They did create a helter skelter atmosphere in the playoffs when they played and that is all i was referring too.

I know right
But for some reason I feel like it will all work out with Curry around. Maybe it will take a trade like landing Amare to make Monta happy.
We will see

I’m pissed about us not having a 2nd round pick we could have picked dejaun blair…. does anybody else other than me see him straight owning us next year???

oh yeah, Blair’s gonna be a beast for as long as his knees hold up… but i’m pretty sure Riley wasn’t drafting him even if we had that 2nd rounder.

yea that was OUR pick that the Spurs used to grab him, right? I can’t remember exactly how we lost it, but I think whichever team we dealt it to then sent it to San Anotonio
