I love it, but of course, I’m biased. I’m not sure how many people can actually pronounce that.

Haha

You guys do realize that I will be using this nickname unless Stephen or one of his friends tells me he isn’t feeling that nickname?

OPEN THREAD III: 2009 NBA Draft Recap + Round 2

Hopefully Naan ‘n’ Curry gets a booth at the Roaracle now!

I’m more than down! I’m going to need to have a serious sit down with Cohan and Rowell and discuss this.

“Every one just calls me Steph,” said the 6-foot-2 Davidson junior. “They just shortened my name. I’m a pretty humble, quiet guy, so I’m cool with that.”

Scoop Jackson came up with “Babyface Killer” I don’t love that either, but its way better than “Masala”

If this kid continues to shoot like he did in college, especially at the point. I say call him “ICE COLD” CURRY.

S tephen C urry.

I’m just gonna call him Stephen Curry because Stephen Curry is like the evolution of Steve Kerr and if he rains jumpers twice as good as Steve Kerr then we’ve got the best shooter to ever play the game.

by Aemoc on Jun 28, 2009 1:47 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Y eah.

I meant evolution in the grammatical sense, btw.

by Aemoc on Jun 28, 2009 1:47 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

you just got scurry'd!

when he hits a game winning shot

Its time for a change...

by RunNdGun on Jun 28, 2009 11:30 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

yeah i came up with that one!!!

SCURRY as in ghost, cuz with him and monte in the backcourt it will definately be a scurry situation against opposing defenses cuz with scurry’s perimeter game and monte’ knack of driving to the hoop these kids finna be ghostin through opponents!!! So I’ll be callin him SCURRY!!!

by FriscoNative on Jun 28, 2009 7:14 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

OR...

if he’s hittin clutch shots this coming season which I know he’ll be doing, and you guys don’t like SCURRY, what about CAPTAIN CRUNCH???

by FriscoNative on Jun 28, 2009 7:30 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

i'm more towards the ebonics version...

haven’t seen too many of his games but is he quick like monte?

Nicknames are earned, not bestowed

Give it a little room to breathe. You might want to call your bench player “Cookie Monster,” but over time he’ll grow a mohawk and put his head down going inside to fit “Rhino.”

The organic process requires watching a kid play for a while, first.

by feral on Jun 28, 2009 6:36 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

SCurr, obviously.

"No Meat Contained"

Is the is a commentary about Larry Riley’s quest for “more beef” or an indictment against Curry’s defense?

Did we just step in some Curr-bury?

AMATEURS!!!!!!!!!!

;)

If you know anything about a good “Curry” and now unfortunatel Curry is the National dish of the United Kingdom!!!

I hark back to the days of Cockney’s in London and Cockney Rhyming Slang…and EVERYONE knows that a Curry is known as a “RUBY”…..

http://www.cockneyrhymingslang.co.uk/cockney_rhyming_slang/

Because a “Ruby Murray” – Curry

Just like “Apples and Pears” = Stairs, “Current Bun” = Sun… etc etc etc.

So Stephen “Ruby” Curry…. is appropriate! ;)

However…..I have noticed people calling him “Steph-an” (pronounciation) when surely he is a “Steven” like Stephen Jackson???

Surely the guy prefers to be called “Steve” than “Steph”…. unless of course he wishes to play in the WNBA? ;)

It's about heart, It's about fight, It's about being a Warrior!

by BritWarriorGSW on Jun 28, 2009 5:43 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Definitely goes by “Steph-an” and not “Steven”.

Please now... Let's not set our sights so low!!

This is the dubs we’re talking about… We don’t need just a good b-ball player that reminds us of how wonderful Kasa is (which, if u live in SF, i highly recomend). We need a damn superhero to raise this franchise from the ashes.

And if we’re to take Queen’s word for it, we just got one.

Are we still going to get Stoudemire?

It’s so obvious… This deal HAS to go through! I want to see Amar’e next year too bad. I was reading another article that just said why not offer Biedrins, Wright and Belinelli along with a future pick? Phoenix has to bit on that. They may not get a better offer.

anything but masala

everytime I see that I get instantly annoyed. I dont know what it means, I’m assuming its a word from another language, but being lazy and at work I’m just gonna dislike it. I also think we should watch the kid play before giving him a nickname, lest we end up with a dumb name, like Panda
