Rookie, get out there!
Now that the draft is in our rear view mirror, we can now focus on one player, Stephen Curry. I don't know if you guys heard but, Larry Riley said that Stephen Curry was arguably the 2nd best player in the draft, if not the 1st. Anyways, this following post will break down what Stephen Curry does best. Ex: Passing, shooting, basketball IQ, leadership, etc. Oh yeah, one more thing, enjoy the post
------- We all know Stephen Curry can shoot like crazy right. In this clip, i will show you how he scores at ease. I wonder what was the score in the first half in this game????? Crazy huh, Well this play is even more crazy. He is able to make a huge 3 point shot with the shot clock draining down. I liked it, the fans liked it, heck, even Lebron James was lovin that shot!!! check it out. Some more scoring from Curry, personally my favorite because he is playing in MSG lol. Its real fun clip to watch.
------ Some people don't realize how good Steph is at passing. He is really underrated. I think Bob Knight said that Curry is one of the best passers in the country. Sorry guys but I can't find any more clips on Stephen Curry's passing ability. Im sure that the previous one was good enough
------ Even though they might not came out as winners, I still think that this is a good performance from Curry. He hits clutch shots in here and some of these shots will drive you crazy!! Overall nice job from Curry
------ This has to be the best clip so far, Stephen just shows off what he can do here. I didn't know he had this type of skill!! It amazes me to see what else Curry can do. Check it out. Lol you weren't expecting that were you.
I hope you guys enjoyed reading this post, I put a lot of hard work into this. I also think that he can be one of the top point guards in the league if he focuses on what he needs to improve on. Ex: defense, shot selection, able to conrol himself, and more. I believe he will improve on all those things. Stephen Curry, get out there!!!!!
I like to thank Youtube and draftexpress for helpin me out. and go Stephen Curry!!!!

who voted for backup?
this kid is going to be a stud!
his career stats will be 20-6-3 in my opinion…
Its time for a change...

That sounds about right.
We will be really good with Randolph putting up 17-9-2 and Ellis with 23-4-4. Big three!
30, 12, & 9
LOL. I’d like to see him put up those numbers but, RunNdGun’s 20-6-3 seems more realistic.
It is the shoes!!!

Call me a pessimist, whatever, but I went with solid starter.

That very well could be the worst rapping I've ever heard in my life...and I'm from the home of Hyphy!
But the ballin clips were good. I voted all-star
Arguably the 2nd best player in the draft
Now, I’ve heard that said about Hill, Clark, Rubio, etc. etc.
Any player picked in the lottery is being tagged with that label from their own GM.
I've heard it said about him from people other than our FO
Not about the other 3 dudes

Am I missing something? Those clips of him passing, did that really qualify him as an all time great college passer? Hell, I could and have made a majority of those passes (that alley oop one is unfair cause all my friends are short). I’m not pimping myself or anything, I’m just saying that it seems very likely that at least a few other people could do those passes last year. I’m sure Jonny Flynn has made a backdoor pass before.
yes, that's why you have to look at his actual stats.
you have to look at his assist to turnover ratio to see if he’s really good at passing or not. just because he made a couple fancy passes doesn’t make him an extremely good passer, even Monta made several nice passes like that last season.

call me crazy, but the college game is probably a lot faster & more athletic than that played by your friends. those aren’t split second decisions you’re probably making with your friends. maybe you can make a 70 foot pass without stepping forward, but would you have been able to spot that pass in the split second it took Curry after he put his head up? would it have enough zip on it to get there before a defender?
i do question the anticipation factor that Knight promotes, as some of those plays look like organized sets. but the NBA is more about size, speed & athleticism and whatnot over true basketball skill. there are so many players who read screen/roll action incorrectly it’s mind boggling. poor fundamentals reign in the NBA. and it’s like half these guys don’t even know how to shoot correctly – only amateurs shoot with the palm of their hands.
i have a knack for anticipating things on the court, especially if a shot is off or good (as long as it’s in the lower bowl, even from the stands, i’m like “ugh” on a missed shot a second or two before the clank and the rest of the crowds reaction)… but that doesn’t do me a whole lot of good at 5’9" vs 6"7" guys… though i dominate in 5’10" and under leagues.
fans seriously overlook the speed of the games as well as the length & agility of defenders when they say things like “i could of made that pass.” when in reality, you might not have had the vision to see that pass among bigger defenders or the pass would have been deflected or intercepted. even for someone as good as Brandon Jennings, those amazing passes he was doing in high school were turnovers over in Italy.

Interesting, my post got deleted for some reason. Oh well. The main point is that you misunderstood my main point. My issue here is with the selective use of hyperbole. Knight used the clips he analyzed as evidence to reach a conclusion that Curry is an all time great college passer.
Though there are many examples of passers, I’ll use Jonny Flynn as an example.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8sIuf2-dZg
Check at 2:07, Flynn is just a freshman here, but could Curry as a junior really make that pass? Based off the evidence Knight provided, I don’t really know, actually. But I am assuming no. That is an impressive pass that if Knight analyzed with a few others:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37pw9QoJ-Ws
(at 1:41, 2:58, 3:33)
and then concluded Flynn was one of the all time great passers, I’d be skeptical still, but I would at least see a better case than the unimpressive one made for Curry. My point with the pass I can make is that, on my level, with the lower caliber level of athletes around me, as a point guard those are average, expected passes. Curry, as a better athlete and basketball player, should be expected to make those passes too. They are not easy for a college point guard, but they are not so hard that if you complete them you are an all time great. Come on, that first pass, he is praising Curry for keeping his eyes up. Are you kidding me? He’s an all time great college passer because he keeps his eyes up when he plays basketball I am just guessing, but I am pretty sure the majority of college point guards keep their head up when dribbling. And the one where he is standing on his feet, there is no one in front of his target. All he has to do is throw it in front of him with enough arc that it won’t bounce away from him. Hell, his target is slowing down to let the ball catch up with him.
I agree with you that some of those were set plays, because if Curry is already in the alley oop throwing motion and the guy hasn’t made his cut yet and doesn’t cut or cuts a bit late, that’s a turnover. Since Curry began his motion, the responsibilty was on the cutter to run the play.
The second to last pass, so he knows when to use a bounce pass and when to use a chest pass (at least in this instance). That separates him from the pack? It is a pass that I would have expected someone like Chris Paul to make while he was playing in Wake Forest, but I haven’t heard anything about him being an all time great college passer.
The last pass was beautiful, I’ll take nothing away from him. Still, that doesn’t mean there is no one else who has ever played college basketball capable of making that pass.
I would never argue I could make that pass in Curry’s context (except that bounce pass one, I would never get into position to make that bounce pass, but if you placed me in that position, that’s really just an easy pass), but I would argue that there were and are many college passers who could make those passes. Using Brandon Jennings is a nice way to jump to the conclusion that amazing passes don’t work in the better leagues but, for one thing, the league Jennings played in was better than NCAA competition, for another, there is no guarantee Curry is making those passes in the European leagues, and finally, there are players who have gone through college and been successful passers even if they made flashy passes. I mean, I know Knight is getting caught up in the present as people often do, but “there has never been a better passer?” So, Magic Johnson wasn’t better?
I think Knight sees Curry as not a flashy, more fundamental player. I think he likes those types of players, maybe from his coaching days, because they are very coachable. I think that he likes those players more than flashier players, and in his haste to defend Curry as a solid basketball player who did not need to be flashy to be effective, he overcompensated and decided to call Curry one of the best passers in college basketball history.
Oh, and as Precise noted, the best way to see how good a passer he is compared to other all time greats would be to check the stats. I was just trying to set up a case that somewhat paralleled Knight’s case for Curry.
I was just trying to set up a case that somewhat paralleled Knight’s case for Curry.
Bobby Knight? What does Knight say about Matt Barnes? Now that’s a passer.
and What does Knight say about folding chairs? Should we trust the opinion of a coach that throws them?
Now wheres the rubbers? Whose got the rubbers?

Stephen Curry
My feelings for him is the same I had for Anthony Randolph when we drafted him last year.
Was excited we got a player that was supposed to be one of the best in the draft but at the same time my excitement is overcome by the fact that he’s somewhat similar to one of the players we have. Randolph turns out alright, I hope Curry can be the same.
Anyway, looking at those clips, here are my few thoughts:
The GOOD: We all know he can shoot. But what I really liked was that he has a quick release on his jump shot. He does seem to have the makings of a PG.
The BAD: He doesn’t get much lift in his jumper. His quick release compensates for it but on an athleticism driven league, he might have some issues where he has to adjust his shot so it doesn’t get blocked.
The UGLY: It bothers me that all those highlights has him mostly pulling for a jumper. JJ Reddick was a celebrated shooter coming into the league but has not been quite the marksman he was in college. I hope he has a much better penetration game than Reddick or else expect him to struggle if he can’t find his shot in the NBA.
double and tripled
its hard to break down teams when they double and triple team you with us they would have to play him honest or somebody else will kill you, but let’s hope that’s the reason
+1
it’s really hard to judge how well he’ll do since the college game will be so different compared to when he’s in the NBA. He looked pretty quick in college too so hopefully he can be just as quick in the NBA.

I said solid starter the one thing that did impress me was his poise but I do have issues with
all the young kids on this blog thinking he’s going to be some kind of all-star/superstar let’s no get ahead of ourselves. he put up great numbers in college in a weak conference. Go ahead and look at what he did against some of the elite teams in college basketball. he struggled a lot and he will in the NBA he doesn’t have the physical gifts or abilities to be a star in this league. If you think he is you should prepare yourself for a bit of a letdown.
It's all about the killer cross-over baby!
he doesn’t have the physical gifts or abilities to be a star in this league.
i, too, voted for solid starter, but only b/c there wasn’t an option in between that and all-star. it all depends on how good his jump shot can get & how high his acumen for playing basketball is. if in 4-5 years he can get his shot up to Nash level, he has a shot at being really good. i don’t know how well he reads screen/roll & whatnot, but if he does those things as well as Riley says he does, the guy has a shot.

Curry said something interesting
basically he said he is excited to be able to just focus on basketball now. No more studying and other B.S., his job is to go to the gym everyday.
That could be lip service, but if he spends 8 hours a day in the gym during the offseason adding to his already impressive stats he will be great.
a couple more inches of lift in his shot seems completely doable and getting stronger will a huge bonus for obvious reasons.
