Possible Trade Idea

What do you guys think about trading Belinelli, Maggette, and Wright for Baron and DeAndre Jordan? I was always happy with getting Turiaf but I think he should be our starting four. Not because he's not good at the five but because Beans needs help defensively. I've been noticing teams are becoming really eager to slash in the lane whenever we put Turiaf back on the bench for Beans, and I've REALLY been noticing that Andris can't do much about it. I think Ronny's defensive prowess and Biedrins' rebounding gives us quite the interior presence. Jordan is an athletically gifted big man who we could work on developing for the future, and is physically more of a "true" five than both Biedrins and Turiaf. Bringing Baron back doesn't really need to be explained, it's an obvious factor for us.

* Also, I just wanted to add that maybe we should consider drafting Terrence Williams. That way if we made this trade and Baron didn't come back as... well, Baron, then he could be our future big guard to play along with Monta and defend the other teams' SG's. Just a thought.

Starters:

PG: Baron Davis
SG: Monta Ellis
SF: Stephen Jackson
PF: Ronny Turiaf
C: Andris Biedrins

Bench:

PG: C.J. Watson
SG: Kelenna Azubuike
SF: Anthony Morrow
PF: Anthony Randolph
C: DeAndre Jordan

Reserves: Jamal Crawford (Yes, I know he's no one's reserve but until we figure out his future with the organization, I'm putting him here), Jermareo Davidson, Rob Kurz, +2 Draft Picks

Not happening

First off, if we even wanted BD back it’s rumored we could basically have him for Maggs. If we didn’t want to sign BD to a 4 year/56 million dollar deal (including the year he opted out of) why would we trade for him when he has a more expensive and longer deal?

Second, we’d basically be trading Marco and BW for Jordan. I’m not sure why anyone would want to do that, I don’t think Nellie would have any use for him and I don’t think his value would be higher than Marco and BW.

If I remember correctly...

BD did sign a 5 year $65 million deal to go to the Clipps right? So technically, looking at the salaries, he has 4 years $42 million left on his deal. So we’d be technically getting him at a discount, not a more expensive and longer deal.

by phiLthyphiL on Jun 4, 2009 8:11 PM PDT up reply actions

you subtracted wrong. 5 yr 65 mill turns into 4 yrs 52 mill. not 42 mill.

you forgot that it works the same for the other deal. so that 4 for 56 is now 3 for 39.

3 for 39 vs 4 for 52.

either way, the W’s picked youth movement as soon as we traded Richardson (and therefore picked Monta). right or wrong, they should just stick w/ that direction and not make any more decisions that go against that philosophy (signing Maggette, extending Jack, trading Harrington for a guy w/ a longer contract).

yes

I like this trade and the only way I’d want BD back is with Jordan. Although does jordan still have any value?

We need to leave baron alone.

As much as I liked baron during we believe, I dont think he would be good for us in the long run. He may be decent for another year or 2 but thats about it. Baron is lazy on defense and performs most of the time when its primetime (national broadcast). He would be the answer to some of our problems but only in the short term. We need to move on! if would could get him for cheaper, then maybe, but I dont see that happening.

We need to dump Crawford

not Maggette. Baron making $15 for the next 4 years – I’ll pass.

by Neon on Jun 4, 2009 12:28 PM PDT reply actions

wee need to dump both

but if you had to pick 1…

+1

In another year Crawford will actually be a fairly valuable trade chip as an expiring contract.

I like Jack, but Crawford may actually be the 3rd contract I’d most like to be ride of.

by sam23 on Jun 4, 2009 6:11 PM PDT up reply actions

yeah. if anything we should be trying to move Jack & Maggette’s contracts to near-contenders like Denver & Cleveland (though the rumor is the Cavs want to clear space for ‘10 to add another superstar next to Lebron – if they resign Varejao, it should pretty much take that off the table) or team’s who are desperate to build a winning team and keep their star players like Toronto. It’s not happening and we’re idiots anyway b/c with a healthy roster we are playoff bound!

Not just yet...

Randolph is growing in leaps and bounds but Turiaf (at least defensively) is pretty much already there, so I think it would be more for Beans’ sake to have Turiaf starting than anything else. Randolph would obviously start some, though. Like when the Lake Show comes to town.

HERE's another one

I read that Boston is willing to trade Ray Allen along with Rondo. RONDO! So why don’t we try to put a package together for those guys

by bushido on Jun 5, 2009 9:15 AM PDT reply actions

yea I saw that, but

1) I have a hard time believing they would trade their best young player
2) They would certainly require Monta in return… my guess would be that they’d at least be looking for something like Monta/Belinelli/Jackson/Turiaf in exchange for Rondo/Allen, and I’m sure they are thinking about something more like Amare or Bosh if they really are serious about s blockbuster deal

Thing A

by sam23 on Jun 5, 2009 4:50 PM PDT up reply actions

This is what we should do

1 Dump Corey Maggette or trade him with Biedrins for a good big man maybe Tyson Chandler (throw in Morris peterson or Rasual Butler and i would love that deal

2 Trade #7 pick, Marco , Brandan Wright to Detroit for Tayshaun and #15 pick

3 If available at pick 15 draft Brandon Jennings ( I heard that his stock has dropped) if not available draft either Terrence Williams Ty Lawson or trade pick for more players

4 Trade or release Jamal Crawford

If we do all these things we should be good

starting lineup:

PG Monta
SG Stack Jack
SF Tayshaun
PF AR4
C Tyson Chandler

Bench: Ronny Turiaf C.J. Watson Kelena azubuike Rasual Butler Terrence Williams Anthony Morrow Rob “MVP for 2010” Kurz and Jamareo Davidson

is chandler that much better than biedrins

he’s older, slightly injury prone, a worse rebounder but better defender. Offensively hes actually more limitd than AB

by tafkasam on Jun 6, 2009 11:58 AM PDT reply actions

NO

Chandler is no better than Biedrins. They have the same strengths (rebounding, dunking, moving well for a big dude) and limitations (no offensive game whatsoever, average man to man defender at best), plus Chandler is older and hurt enough to not be accepted by a team that traded for him last year.

No thank you.
