Bye Bye Rob Kurz
so, with all the fuss about the ongoing drama about the Amare Stoudemire trade rumors, i decided to search for any updates on the trade talks. i went onto the Contra Costa Times website and i came across this article:
http://www.contracostatimes.com/sports/ci_12728710?source=rss
so i began to read the article and quickly got bored with it, so i skimmed through to the end and notice the last two sentence were about Rob Kurz. it stated:
"Rob Kurz won't be back with the Warriors. An unrestricted free agent, Kurz is trying to catch on with the Philadelphia 76ers."
personally, i thought Rob Kurz was a pretty good player. he did not play much with the Warriors but with some more practice and some more experience, i think he will be a valuable player to any roster in the league.
with the Warriors, Rob Kurz showed he had a decent outside shot, the ability to run the floor well, and some rebounding skills. he even had flashes of post defense with a few surprising blocks.
i want to wish Rob Kurz good luck with the 76ers or with which ever team who picks him up.
p.s. i guess this means no more 'Rob Kurz' jokes...

I actually liked him.
I don’t expect him to make any moves down low, but he sure as hell has a great outside jumper.
He showed how deep the Warriors bench can be. He was like our 12th man, but how many 12th men in the league can come in the game and shoot three’s and mid range jumpers at the power forward position? He was a mobile player, too; he got around the court pretty quick for his size.
This kind of reminds me of Austin Croshere, I liked him a lot but it’s a shame that he had to go.

A little confused
The ESPN free agent list says Rob Kurz is a restricted free agent, but MT2 says he’s unrestricted. Huh??? Anyway, Rob Kurz was a nice guy and had a memorable game in helping to embarrass the Jazz late in the season. I won’t miss him but I’ll wish him good luck out there.

The Warriors had until last night to offer a qualifying offer to him to make him a restricted free agent. They didn’t. The QO would have meant the right to match, but it also would have meant a guaranteed contract for the year, not at a particularly high value, but on the books anyhow. He would also be untradeable until Dec and have veto power over trades without his consent for the rest of the year.

comparison to Croshere was great
I think Kurz could be a lights out shooter for someone who has a solid core of inside players and can allow him to wander out to 3pt land.
I hope he catches on somewhere and becomes a madman on the boards and on defense.

"how many 12th men in the league can come in the game and shoot three’s and mid range jumpers at the power forward position"
It’s the NBA, every guy out there is talented and there’s a reason why they made the league in the first place. But Kurz is a dime a dozen, nothing special or significant that we couldn’t find from another undrafted player or D-league player. Best of luck to him, but he definitely won’t be missed in Warriors land (not be me anyways). Another example of overvalueing our scrubs

Yes I will miss him, but it is time to move on. His roster spot needs to be used to test new talent.
Good luck Kurz.
