Anthony Morrow scores 47 to spite Don Nelson
Anthony Morrow set a summer league scoring record yesterday with a breakout performance of 47 points. This surpassed the previous high of 42, which was just tied the day before by teammate Anthony Randolph.
Morrow received inconsistent playing time last year due to Don Nelson's crazy whims and hate of everybody not named Don. Had Nelson treated Morrow better, this performances would have been a regular site on the court last year. But Nelson treated Morrow horribly and sat him on the bench at times, and Morrow got cheated. It's a testament that he was able to overcome such unfairness and terrible coaching.

understandable
searching for any Dubs news during the offseason can lead to some very dark corners.
I just thought
to spite Don Nelsonin the title was strong enough BS. I’m very surprised that anyone would take that seriously.
Well if anything, it has people talking about AM.

So let me get this straight… this is a joke targeted specifically at people who don’t like TK, but read him regularly enough to get that you were referencing his reaction to Randolph’s 42 pt game, and you are surprised that not a lot of people got it?
It’s not a bad joke I guess, but having to explain it does spoil most of the fun.

so anyone who doesn’t dislike TK AND read him regularly is a 12 year old? Sarcasm doesn’t work well without a little bit of context.

to be fair, if I had understood the joke the first time it probably woulda been kinda funny to me. Its just hard to assume someone’s very first comment or fanpost is entirely sarcastic simply because of a TK reference.

and the joke is not funny if you have to explain later and then insult your audience for not getting it.

Subjective... ho-uh post
To spite Nelson… on what grounds do you have to make that statement?
Couldn’t you just as easily say that because of Don Nelson, Chris Mullin, Robert Rowell, etc that he got a 2nd chance after the Miami decided to retain his services after the Orlando Summer league. Not only that, but he also was given a shot when the Warriors signed him to a two year deal. Even more so, he got a shot early in the season due to injuries and wham blew up for 37 points. Are you telling me because he didn’t play more after the clippers game (which by the way he did and his production fell off) that he should some how be upset at Nellie? Unbelievable…

Word.
I really hope A-Mo gets alot of run, but I just don’t see it because of your above point.
I think we’d be lucky to see him play 10 minutes in a game.

I too was frustrated that Morrow...
didn’t get enough run in the beginning.
I got over it tho because he got more run in the later of the season and was able to be crowned with the best 3-Point shooting percentage as a Rookie.
I really hope the Anthonies become the core for the WARRIORS for 37 years to come.
Please front office, don’t trade them.
Big ups to A-mo for his 37+10point performance.
Big ups to AR for his 37+5point performance.

I like Morrow in the J-Terry/Eddie House type role
In the sense of a guy coming off the bench and shooting the light out. He doesn’t need to be 30 min a game guy if he can come off the bench raining buckets. I like the idea of him paired with Maggette on the 2nd unit giving us some scoring power off the bench. 15-20 minutes a night and 20+ if gets hot.

I like how you're J-Terry/Eddie House example is an Apples/Oranges comparison
Terry is a 19/4 player and House is about 8/1.
So if you mean Morrow is going to be a guard that will either be really good or not really good, then I guess I agree with you.
by eastbayglory on Jul 17, 2009 12:05 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Think of it as a high/low
High end being Terry’s 32 mins, 19.0 ppg, and 6.0 3PT attempts a night
Low end being House’s 18 mins. 8.5 ppg, and 4.5 3PT attempts a night
I agree they’re not the best example because their both undersized 2 guards, were as Morrow has the size to play the 3 spot. I guess Korver and Kapono would be closer examples. However, in terms of value their team I think Terry and House are two of the most important bench players in the league (I don’t think so much of Korver and Kapono).

Who doesn’t for Don Nelson. He’s 6’5. Thats actually pretty small for the SF considering he’s not ripped like Maggette and Azubuike.

But that last comment was kind of just a joke. He had two really good games, and a bunch of good to solid games.

“all i know is this kid is the sickest shooter in the nba right now”
He did league the league in %, and he’s certainly a very good shooter, but give me Ray Allen or Peja Stojokavic any day. Hell, Jason Kapono can’t do anything else worthwhile or create his own shot, but I’d definitely put him over Morrow as a shooter, too, based on his longer track record.
