I think Maggette will be coming off the bench behind Azubuike. While Maggette will ultimately get more playing time of the two, Nelson likes having that option off the bench. Besides, Maggette performs better when coming off the bench.

I think he could get more playing time than buike too.

You can see that Maggs and the coaches will often discuss particular match-ups and strategies extensively right before he goes in. It makes all the difference for Maggette if he is not trying to figure out how to fit in on the fly.

It’s like buike is the test and Maggette drops the hammer. Unfortunately we can’t graft Buike’s 3pt % onto Maggette.

Maggette makes up his mind early regarding on-court decisions so it is better for him to have an understanding of what exactly is expected of him before he goes out there.

Starting Ellis with Curry or Ellis with Morrow would be, well, dumb.

Why would Ellis + Morrow be dumb? Morrow doesn’t seem like a defensive liability anymore. Also, his rebounding skills are quite nice.

While Morrow may not be a liability defensively, he isn’t a good defender yet. I think he’s better suited coming off the bench with Azubuike starting. Azubuike is clearly a better rebounder and defender.

i mean really if i got a choice between Miami and L.A, why would i pick Oakland?

He doesn’t want to play against Randolph, of course.

Start of season-
1-ME8, Curry, Marco/Law(whoever is still here)
2-Jackson, Ammo, ME8
3-Buike, Maggs, Jackson
4-Randolph, Beef player, Wright
5-Beans, Ronny
All star break and beyond
1-Curry, Ellis, New guy
2-Ellis, Buike, Ammo
3-Jackson, Maggs, Buike
4-Randolph, Beef, New guy( Lawrence Hill?)
5- Beans, Ronny

Trade Marco for basically another scrub with a expiring deal and deal Wright for a pick or cash.

it’s pretty far-fetched to think the W’s will have anything beyond a 9 man rotation.

Monta, Curry, Morrow

Jack, Regrette, Azubuike

Goose, Randolph, Turiaf

warming the benches will be BW, MB, AL & Speedy. though they’ll surely get some action when Regrette gets one of his annual injuries.

DING DING DING

I think that starting lineup works. Randolph’s developing passing ability can help make up for Maggette’s shortcomings. Maggette draws the defense, no one dares leave him, which helps open things up for Randolph. He’s also a pretty good rebounder for a 3. Jackson helps solve our defensive issues on the perimeter. If Maggette can play more consistent defense, this lineup will be very tough. I like it. The other possibility is to start Buke at the 3 and have Maggette come off the bench for more minutes than Buke. That may be better.

monta/curry
jack/MORROW
buike/mags
randolph/wright
beans/ronnie

i don’t think curry is going to start this season unless ellis gets hurt…..

i agree

this is how the lineup should be set, with maggette the first off the bench
im interested to see how monta and curry would play together on offense, defense might be a struggle.

Monta/Curry

I give Monta less than a month to start, that will be plenty of time to work Curry into the PG position, it will be evident to all even Monta after the first month that he can’t run the team like the new kid on the block can, plus all the open looks he will get when Curry ia at the helm:

by ForestGrump on Jul 19, 2009 5:29 PM PDT reply actions

I really hope you’re right. Then again, if that happens, it will almost certainly mean one will need to be traded at some point. We’ll have serious problems with a small 1 and 2. I honestly don’t think Curry will be ready to start due to that issue alone. I suppose if one gains some weight and figures out a way to compensate reasonably well for the height and weight disadvantages, we might be a’right. That won’t happen this year, though.

by Naticus on Jul 19, 2009 7:22 PM PDT up reply actions

I predict you eating your words. Monta is going to show everyone how a scoring point guard can dominate for our team. Just because Monta has never had to play the point it doesn’t mean he will not be able to. A player of Monta’s talent will definitely be better than a rookie like Curry for at least the first year.
