Let me ask you guys a couple questions.....

I used to go on GSOM a fair amount a couple seasons ago when I thought it would be a travesty if the Warriors didn't get the 8th seed. After the home loss to the Nuggets, effectively ending their chances, I have not been back on. So its been a while since I have had a good discussion on the state of the Warriors. And man, has a lot changed. Some for the good, but mostly for the bad. So I was wondering if I could ask you guys some questions as to the state of your franchise.

I live on the East Coast. I am busy until about 10 pm every night, so the Warriors' games that start at 10:30 my time, 7:30 your time, work out perfectly for me. I probably watched bits and pieces of at least 45 games.

1) Is the consensus among Warrior fans that Don Nelson must go? I think he does.

2) Is the consensus among Warrior fans that "Captain Jack" must go? I always thought he got too much credit for the Dallas series, and that Jason Richardson didn't get enough. Nothing upsets me more than when I am watching a Warriors game and the ball is swung to Jackson and he jabs, sets, sets again, jabs again, sets again, then shoots the same shot he has already faked shooting 5 times.

3) Is Monta Ellis a Top-20 guy in the league? What guard would you ideally want playing alongside him?

4) Was re-signing Biedrins the correct decision? My feeling has always been that while Andris is a solid, likable player, the Warriors will never get better as long as he is their best front-court player.

5) Was the Corey Maguette signing really as bad as people say? I have always thought that under a better coach and system, and on a team that didn't already have one giant ball-stopper in Stephen Jackson, Corey Maguette would make a perfect 6th man. The way he piles up foul shots is absolutely unbelievable.

6) Has Brandan Wright showed any signs of anything? I watched him at UNC a lot and he always reminded of Calvin Booth. I thought he sucked. I have seen him score maybe 10 points in two seasons.

7) Has Marco Bellinelli showed any signs of anything?

8) Finally, is Anthony Randolph the cornerstone of the franchise?

I feel for the you Warrior fans because I really don't think you guys are that far away from the West elite. But a terrible management hierarchy, led by a terrible coach who foolishly believes that Stephen Jackson is Larry Bird, will hinder the growth of the franchise. I think its sad.

Just a sign of how much talent this team has, I have gotten this far into the post without even mentioning Stephon Curry, who I think is a definite baller.

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

1. There are some that dislike Nellie and thinks he must go. But I don’t think there’s an overwhelming majority who feel this way, unlike like the majority who want Cohan and Rowell to go.
2. Like Nellie, there are some who want Jack to go. Most just want him to stop arguing with the refs and to handle the ball less.
3. He could have been a Top 20 guy up until he discovered mopeds. Now we really don’t know if he’s back to his old self. This next season will tell us.
4. That’s going to start another flame war, particulary with the Amare vs Biedrins talks a couple weeks ago. The general consensus is that Biedrins what you said: a solid player, not over spectacular, may be close to his ceiling.
5. Maggette is good at drawing fouls, getting to the FT line, etc. Doesn’t have the mentality to pass the ball. Sometimes the offense stagnates around him. He is a good 6th man. His contract sucks, though, which is the biggest reason why the signing was bad.
6. Wright has shown signs of knowing how to play on offense, but quiet on defense, especially fighting for rebounds.
7. Marco has shown signs of willingness to play defense and be a tougher physical presence last season, with an occasional flashy passing play on offense. Makes a lot of turnovers from making high risk one armed passes through traffic. Nellie has said those passes work in Europe, but not in the NBA.
8. Randolph will be a cornerstone. He’s still learning, but his growth from last season up through summer league has been amazing. For right now, I think Monta is considered the “cornerstone” of the Warriors.

…led by a terrible coach who foolishly believes that Stephen Jackson is Larry Bird…

Jack was Nellie’s best choice to be his “first officer” last season that was already lost since Monta got on a moped. He was the most experienced player and most vocal as a locker room leader that Nellie had to lead the bunch of mostly young kids through the season. Nellie himself has admitted on the radio that Jack is a good player, but he should not be the #1 guy on a team.

I hope that with the growth and willingness of Randolph and Morrow to be vocal and take responsibility, the burden with be lifted from Jackson on being the locker room and floor leader.

In my opinion.....

1) A lot of people are frustrated with nelson cause run n gun has never one a championship and most teams that do win have more emphasis on defense than we do. Secondly, nelson is reluctant to play rooks, and with our young squad, they need minutes to grow.

2) Everyone is more or less content with jack but I think your points are valid.

3) Ellis= 20 top guy. Everyone wants a bigger guard to play alongside him so that we dont get gang banged on the defensive end.

4) Resigning beans was a good thing. Lots of people say hes in the mix for top 10 centers in the league. He needs more offense moves and has to toughen up on defense.

5) I think that the consensus is that the mags signing was bad largely because of the money (I think his contract is backloaded too!). He will be hard to trade. Also, he slows down the offense…hes best in iso situations and as a run n gun team we need ball movement. As a sixth man, hes good and can help stabilize the 2nd unit when the offense is stagnant.

6) Brandan Wright has flashes…check youtube. But I think everyone is frustrated with his development as randolph has come along much more quickly physically as well as in every part of his game. In his defense, injuries and the “nelson not playing rooks” thing have hampered his progress. Most consider him expendable along with mags for an impact player.

7) Belinelli has shown flashes, check youtube. Most people like him but him fitting into this logjam at guard will be difficult. Some people have suggested he play the point as his court vision has improved. His defense has also improved. A lot have suggested giving him another shot, yet many also consider him expendable as i’ve seen his name along with maggs and wright in trade suggestions.

8) Everyone is drooling over randolph. If his progress continues (which it should), he will be a cornerstone provided the FO doesnt screw it up and let him walk.

by Butt Secks on Jul 21, 2009 7:56 AM PDT reply actions

Jackson needs leadership to keep him in line? The guy has been team captain and performed well, all things considered. WHY would we want to give him up? He has a bad contract anyway, and he’s worth more here as a stabilizing force and a leader (ironically). Where’d you get the idea that Stephen Jackson has been out of line???

by Naticus on Jul 21, 2009 11:44 PM PDT up reply actions

1. I think Nelly is a great coach but he needs the right type of PG to run the offense which we really don’t have or haven’t seen battle tested at least. But he will leave at the end of his contract and Keith Smarts will be head coach. I liked him this summer league as he was on everyones ass about defensive assignments and positions the whole game no matter the score.

2. I think Jack should only be the facilitator and nothing more. If he has an open shot then he takes it or fakes then makes a play. If it’s not there then he better swing the ball. This is where our offense was totally stagnant and messed with the squads whole rhythm starting on offense then eventually translating to defense.

3. If Monta is really healthy and back to how he and then some then he is a top 10 guard. He has one of the highest point total/fg% ratio as a guard and if he can prove that he can be a winning pg this season then he’s an allstar.

4. Biedrins will always just be a mediocre center. Not superstar worthy but more like all star worthy like Tyson Chandler. He was a good signing and we weren’t about to lose a talent like him so we did what we had to do.

5.Maggette was expensive, period. But besides that we got one of the most deadliest sf’s in the league. Honestly the dude is a beast and if he can somehow integrate passing into his game then the signing can be a good one. No one can really guard him and he’s got the best body in the NBA. Who’s really buffer… Lebron or Maggs?

6. Wright was really just a rebuilding block. They traded for him to resign Monta/Biedrins. We’re totally lucky for Ammo falling into our hands as he’s soon going to replace J-Rich’s role. But we all know no one will ever replace J-Rich!!

7. Marco is our 3rd stringer. He’s better than most 3rd stringers in the league so blah.

8. Randolph is showing signs of stardom. He very well could be the hybrid of KG and Odom which would make him a monster. If he can somehow master his foot work in the post and learn how to play under control at all times he’s going to be a star for sure. Give him 3 years and he’ll be a beast.

Well, there’s “1” and “one,” but obviously “one” would be more correct in your sentence. ;-)

Meanwhile: ax/axe, gray/grey, catalog/catalogue, theater/theatre (etc.), traveling/travelling, pædophile/pedophile, realize/realise (etc.), aluminum/aluminium, color/colour (etc.), fulfil/fulfill, draught/draft, blonde/blond, plough/plow, kerb/curb, ageing/aging, judgment/judgement, pajamas/pyjamas, ensure/insure, disc/disk, omelet/omelette, Steven/Stephen, Jon/John, Cathy/Kathy, skeptic/sceptic, etc. etc. etc…

Yeah, a lot of those pairs divide along British/US lines, but you can’t say either of any of them is incorrect.

On Nellie v. Nelly: jae, I may be even more anal on these matters than you, but I personally find the insistence on “Nellie” a little pedantic. It is just a nickname, and it’s not like anyone is going to mistakenly assume the writer is referring to the rapper or the obnoxious little blonde girl.

Maybe it’s just cos I look at typography all day long, but the capitalized “O” in “Golden State Of Mind” bugs me way more than a “y” at the end of Nelly…

Short simple anwsers

1) Is the consensus among Warrior fans that Don Nelson must go? I think he does.
He will leave when his contract expires, unless we come up with a brilliant idea to resign him to a multi-year deal.

2) Is the consensus among Warrior fans that “Captain Jack” must go? I always thought he got too much credit for the Dallas series, and that Jason Richardson didn’t get enough. Nothing upsets me more than when I am watching a Warriors game and the ball is swung to Jackson and he jabs, sets, sets again, jabs again, sets again, then shoots the same shot he has already faked shooting 5 times.
Not really,we just get frustrated with him sometimes.
3) Is Monta Ellis a Top-20 guy in the league? What guard would you ideally want playing alongside him?
Top 30-40,I don’t think Monta has it yet,we’ll just have to see this season.
4) Was re-signing Biedrins the correct decision? My feeling has always been that while Andris is a solid, likable player, the Warriors will never get better as long as he is their best front-court player.
It’s hard to find solid centers that can rebound and play defense,so yes.

5) Was the Corey Maguette signing really as bad as people say? I have always thought that under a better coach and system, and on a team that didn’t already have one giant ball-stopper in Stephen Jackson, Corey Maguette would make a perfect 6th man. The way he piles up foul shots is absolutely unbelievable.
If we’ve sign him for less,it would of been much better.
6) Has Brandan Wright showed any signs of anything? I watched him at UNC a lot and he always reminded of Calvin Booth. I thought he sucked. I have seen him score maybe 10 points in two seasons.
He has shown a lot of potential before that injury against LA
7) Has Marco Bellinelli showed any signs of anything?
He has as well,again,the injuries…
8) Finally, is Anthony Randolph the cornerstone of the franchise?
It really looks like it right now,Monta is not “the man” anymore, plus it’s hard to find good big men these days…
Finally like Rashard Lewis said, you need big men to win championships.

You're Lucky

You’re lucky you live 3000 miles away from Warriorville. Living as a die hard hoops junkie around here is like being a crack addict in Rapid City South Dakota. So far from a good thing…

When you mention to people on the east coast that you root for the Golden State Warriors, do they even know what sport you’re talking about? Even my die hard sports junky friends back east laugh at me when I mention the Dubs. They can’t even think of a current players name aside from the “guy who jumped in the stands with Artest” guy.

Nellie should stay, Captain Jack will be here until the new bay bridge is completed, Monta is borderline top 20 (pretty good for the Dubs to have a top 20 player in the league), Andris signing was the smartest move the Dubs have made in years, Mag’s signing was a knee jerk reaction to losing the most productive player since Sprewell in Baron Davis compiled by the fact Mags is hurt every year and his $ is on the books forever, BWright should be traded for sure, Belinelli will have his best season to date IF he gets playing time on a crowded bench and yes, Randolph should be all things considering, the cornerstone of the team (poor mans Scottie Pippen).

by gabezgsw on Jul 21, 2009 3:03 PM PDT reply actions

“When you mention to people on the east coast that you root for the Golden State Warriors, do they even know what sport you’re talking about?”

They usually think about it for a couple of seconds, remember which sport it is, then ask the following, “Where is Golden State anyways?” When I reply with, “Oakland”, the response, almost without fail, is, “You know, I don’t really know California that well…where is Oakland, is it by LA?”

I know what you mean

I live in New York, but i’m still a BIG Warrior fan for life. It gets embarrassing when people don’t know Golden State or our players to much. But it is fun repping my team instead of being on the Lakers or Clevelands bandwagon. I just can’t wait untl Golden State starts winning consistently so we will be known around the world more. If we won a championship this year some people still would be like “who” but Anthony Randolph is a start for us to start winning because AR and possibility Monta can and most likely will become mulitiple All Stars and house held names in the NBA is everything works out

by GSW9 on Jul 21, 2009 8:12 PM PDT up reply actions

the corect answers as follows...

1) Not until he gets his wins record – then Keith Smart should step into his spot. Its perfect because this year we will be close to the playoffs – where nelson rarely fairs well – and next year we will be IN the playoffs with our new coach.
2) If he can accept a limited role he should stay -if not jackson should leave.
3) Monta CAN be a top twenty player but is far from it. I’d like to see him paired with a Chauncy Billups type
4) Biedrins is a solid role player and we need him big time. Randolph is our best front line player, which takes heat off Beans.
5) I agree Mags isn’t as bad a pickup as he is treated – but his contract was way too much. Similar to Jackson, if he takes a limited role he is a good part of the team.
6) Who is B. Wright? Haven’t we traded that guy yet?
7) Who is Marco? I’m suprised he doesn’t want to return to Itay to be a star – my guess is that he and Wright will be gone by allstar break.
8) AR and Monta are the two super special talents and so they are both the cornerstones.

by tjmax on Jul 21, 2009 3:15 PM PDT reply actions

1) No, at least I hope not. I don’t see anybody better for this team out there right now. He’s certainly not perfect, but Don Nelson doesn’t get nearly enough credit around here.
2) No I don’t think thats the consensus, but I see what you’re saying. That contract is gonna be pretty tough to move. Jack’s style of play pretty much guarantees he’ll always either be receiving too much or too little credit. He was flat out fantastic in that Dallas series; he and Baron were pretty much the best two players on the court for the entire series. His flaws have been well documented around here so I won’t go into them. I don’t think his defense is quite as good as a lot of GSoMers make it out to be but he’s still clearly our best wing defender by a pretty large margin.
3) Not right now. Probably OJ Mayo. Obviously you can’t go wrong with Chris Paul but with Mayo’s size/shooting/defense package I think they’d make a great backcourt
4) I don’t see how you can’t say yes. That contract is great, his salary doesn’t go up at all, he’s still in his early 20s and he’s an elite rebounder and an above average center. I think its pretty clear thats below market value for a legitimate center.
5) Depends what “people say.” Its a terrible contract. He’s aging, he’s injury prone, he isn’t going to get any better and he’s extremely flawed. But he’s a still a good player. Its like Aaron Rowand….you don’t like the contract, but the guy isn’t totally useless.
6) Yes, Brandan Wright is good. He LOOKS a lot like Calvin Booth but I don’t think their on court games are very similar at all. Wright is a whole lot more athletic and a lot more skilled offensively.
7) anything? yes. Much? not really. He has improved quite a bit, but I don’t see more than and half dozen teams, at most, where he’d get significant playing time.
8) Cornerstone? a little early to say that, but if he’s not we’re in trouble.

well I guess it kinda depends on how much support you think he gets around here. I should’ve said that before, but it sure seems to me like he doesn’t get much at all. He’s quirky, he plays favorites, he gambles with his lineups far too often and it is odd that he seems like he’s often at odds with one player on the team…..but the guy gets results. He’s got a great track record of developing young teams, we’re a bad young team right now and its not as though there’s some fantastic alternative dying to get the Warriors head coaching job. I feel like if you’re gonna call for the guys head you better have at least a short list of reasonable alternatives who would 1) get better results than Nelson and 2) might actually consider taking the job. I seriously don’t see a single potential coach out there that fits both requirements. Nellie is entertaining. This team plays a pretty entertaining brand of basketball under Nelson despite the fact that they aren’t very good. Over the past 15 years Nelson has taken us to the playoffs twice. Nobody else has led the team to the playoffs once. I’m open to reasonable anti-Nelson arguments but so far they all sound like the same arguments for why we needed to get rid of him the first time (he’s too quirky, he’s too old, we’ll figure out an alternative later/nobody could be worse than Nellie) and that didn’t turn out very well.

1) No. He isnt phil jackson/popovich, but he’s miles better than every other warrior coach since well.. him in 1993
2) No. I like JAck, he still is only guy who can defend.
3) Not now, hopefully in future. A tall guard who can shoot and facilitate with low TOs: BRoy
4) YES. Unless you want adonal back. I agree he’s limited but he is a legitimate starting C
5) Yes soley because he has a record of missing atleast 20 games a year.
6) He’s kind of a lame duck as we now see randolph as our future 4
7) best case scenerio, he could be a 2 with handles, tough defense, craftiness and a shot. but he’s way too out of control. He could be like turkaglo, a player who puts it all together in his late 20s
8) He’s got ability to be most talented player dubs have drafted… ever

by tafkasam on Jul 21, 2009 3:35 PM PDT reply actions

1) Don Nelson is the best coach available. The only main concerns are his tendancy to run his veterans to the ground and not playing guys that don’t fit his style (Brandan Wright). Nellie can be fustrating for sure, but he is also entertaining. Nellie (the coach) is not the problem.

2) Jack is fine, he did too much because we didnt have anybody else last year. Hopefully with Ellis healthy and Randolph emerging, he will simmer down a bit and be the terrific fiery complementary player that we love. It is universally agreed that the Jackson extension was the most awful move in the last few years, which is something considering how bad the Warriors have been

3) Nope, but he is our best player and he can be.

4) Biedrins has a terrific contract and he is solid NBA center.

5) Yes, thats all I am going to say about that.

6) Brandan Wright has shown flashes, he is still very young and raw. He hasnt been given a fair chance and now AR has passed him. I dont expect much from him in a Warriors jersey.

7) He proved that he can be a legitiment 9-12 man in the NBA, its possible that he proves he can be 6-8th man.

8) Maybe and hopefully. Its still to early to chisel his hall of fame bust, but he has given us alot of hope…

7. Should be rephrased "Why so many Belinelli haters?"

Do all you not remeber that if Belenelli never would have gotten hurt morrow would have never got another chance. Morrow did not really outplay Belinelli at all last he was just the one with the last oppurtunity.

defense wasnt why belinelli didnt play

his tendency to play either completely out of control or way too timid was. He’d either come in and launch 10 shots or not touch the ball. Morrow didnt play cause he’s not very good… just a shooter, rest of his game was well below par. If he wasn’t on a role shooting, he would get subbed out.

Both try hard defensively though, and i respect it.

belinelli

lost time because he was injured… not really because nelson didnt want to play him again. However, if Marco had his 15 game stretch at the end of the season… alot of people here would be as excited they are about morrow(before that 47 point game hoopla) . Morrow had a decent stretch to end the season but Azubuike, CJ, Turiaf, Randolph, and Jamal all had better endings to the season. Morrow is getting alot of homerism like Curry is right now. He is a very flawed player and he should stick to being a 10-15 minute man off the bench. I bet we lose him in free agency next year.

agreed on morrow

he does 1 thing EXTREMELY well (elite level) but rest of his game is well below par for his position. Belinelli on otherhand may not do any one thing as well as morrow shoots, but he does everything at a good level and shows propensity to be an above average nba player, perhaps more if he adapts. Euro/South american swing players tend to take longer. Hedo, came into his own in late 20s but before this no one thought of him as more than a good bench player. Ginobili didnt come to nba till he was 25, and so on. Belinelli just turned 23. I imagine in 3-5 years he could be a quality nba starter

by tafkasam on Aug 3, 2009 11:26 AM PDT up reply actions

I’m trying to figure out which thing that Morrow does well you are talking about.

He is an awesome shooter, above-average rebounder for a SG and he never turns the ball over. He’s the prototypical shooting specialist.

(I guess tenacious defense would probably be part of the equation too, but let’s not get too picky.)

i agree with you but

i realized people won’t listen to you if you try to make your point more emphatically . It’ll come across as screaming/noise rather than content.
Morrow did not outplay Bellinelli except for a few select games(4 or 5). but those games really stand out in peoples minds because they either had alot of drama(37 point debut), or it is the most recent memory.
I have nothing against Morrow but i don’t have expectations for him to be a building block. I hope he can like any other young player on this team but i have serious doubts.
I think Marco is more of a starter due to his wide variety of skills which he can use throughout a 25-35 minute per game span. Morrow only provides shooting so a 15-20 minute role would probably maximize his talent without showing his liabilities too much.
Like if the Celtics had House starting… or playing starter minutes, he would not be as effective but his 10-15 minute stretches where he scores 10 points are very helpful because his defensive and point guard limitations aren’t really exposed.

He’s likely the best pure outside shooter in the NBA. He’s also a good rebounder for a guard, and doesn’t turn the ball over much. (Doesn’t seem to have much in the way of court vision/playmaking skills but seems to understand his limitations in that regard). And by all accounts he’s a great kid and a total gym rat who’s completely determined to build on a solid rookie campaign.

There’s no logical reason why his talent would be better “maximized” at 15-20 minutes than 25-30, unless (1) you question his stamina; or (2) you think there’s someone else more effective than him who could take those added minutes. #1 is not really legit, given that he’s 23, fit, and a reputed gym rat. #2 might be somewhat more legit, but the “someone else more effective than him” is almost certainly not Marco Belinelli.

There will be no extra point!

His defense is pretty bad. His effort is actually ok but his

actual output is pretty terrible.
Basically hes a great shooter and a good rebounder. Thats about it. Thats not really enough for him to be a starter in my opinion.

He’s top 10 but for sure not the best. I know the stats point otherwise, but Jason Kapono shot better than that for 2 years in a row.
So why isn’t he considered the best pure shooter in the league.?
My point is he is more of an instant offense type of guy than a good starter. His rebounding is nice but I’d rather just play two bigs than have only biedrins or turiaf and be saying his rebounding is critical for small ball….. screw small ball. we’re pretty good playing big.

Not sure what you mean by “actual output.” I’m fairly sure you mean “your actual opinion,” since Morrow’s actual plus/minus and actual Roland rating indicate that last year, as a rookie, he was the most valuable player on the Warriors (when he played).

He’s top 10 but for sure not the best.

You need to learn the meaning of “for sure.”

My point is he is more of an instant offense type of guy than a good starter.

That sounds good, but unless you have something substantial to back it up, it’s as meaningless as saying “he’s a role player.”

I have no idea what you’re saying here. Morrow plays mostly two-guard; and for a two guard, he’s a good rebounder with good length.

I dunno, to me it sounds suspiciously like Morrow is simply a casualty in your tiresome campaign to sanctify Belinelli. You’ve still given nothing of substance to support any of your assertions.

He has a good point about Kapono. I would call Kapono the best pure shooter in the NBA. Highest 3pt % in history and a longer track record than Morrow. I’m not a huge Morrow fan myself, so keep that in mind.

I consider myself a pretty big Morrow fan, but I also agree about Kapono as a better outside shooter. But Morrow is pretty close to the top right now and he’s a better rebounder, better overall scorer, has a considerable advantage in TS%, and is better defensive player. Basically Morrow is just a much better player than Kapono right now. (I know nobody suggested that he wasn’t)

well if Morrow is number two that’s pretty good considering how many players are in the league? What number does Marco come in at?

I'd say top 10.

Hes up there with Allen, Kapono, Nash, Bonner, and some others.

I think it’s fair to put him up with the elite shooters, sample size problems make it kind of difficult to figure out exactly where. I’d definitely have Allen and Nash ahead of him, in addition to Kapono, dunno who else. Maybe throw him in the next tier with guys like Kyle Korver, Jameer Nelson, Bonner, and other elite shooters. Marco has a lot to prove, still. He’s a career 39.5% shooter, so that’s very good, but he only has 172 attempts – 12 less than Morrow. Essentially Marco is about where Curry is, we know they have the shooting ability, but they have to prove it at the NBA level. Morrow’s much higher % makes me ok putting him with the really good shooters.

Pessimists

1. Some here are very hostile, but Nelson is one of the better coaches in the league. He is not going to take you to the finals, but he can get more out of a less skilled team. Unfortunately, most stars are so afraid to play here because of management so we have to grow our own talent.
2. Jackson gets far more crap than he should. He is not a #1 and had to play like it, but he gets $7 million, which is not unreasonable and can be a killer #3 or 4 option.
3. Monta Ellis is not, nor will he ever be a top 20 guy. Hopefully, he will recover from the ankle industry and be a top 40 player.
4. Biedrins is a highly underrated center. He is 23, but already an efficient rebounder and scorer. He needs to add post moves and be less herky jerky in his defense, but even with his faults is a top center who would start on all, but a handful of teams. With a very good contract for his attitude, upside, and skills.
5. The Corey Magette signing was awful for two major reasons. Corey magette should never be making $10/year when his skill set is so limited. Secondly, he is a horrible fit for the run and gun warriors. He cannot pass, rebound well, or defend. His offense relies on him getting the ball and trying to run into defenders to draw fouls. He is a decent 6th man, but hardly worth $10 million/year.
6. Brandon Wright could develop into a starter in the league if he improves his rebounding and defense. He needs a jumpshot, but has the potential to turn into a scary offensive force. Unfortunately he gets hurt frequently and does not show nearly the same desire as Randolph.
7. Bellinelli is now gone, but he has the potential to be a starter, but not a star.
8. Randolph, unlike Ellis, has the potential to be a top 20 guy. He can handle the ball, block shots, and rebound well. He is moving closer to developing a reliable midrange jumper. What sets him apart is that he is determined to be one of the best. Within two to three years I expect him to bypass Bosh and Amare, both of whom lack his drive to be an all-round force.
