Corey Maggette = X-Factor
Over this last season we all [Warrior Fans] saw that Corey Maggette played a lot better as a 6th Man for our team. Also he showed us all that he is able to draw a foul almost all the time. He is strong, Pretty decent perimeter game [ but i think he should stick to just driving], decent passer [ SIKE! ], and is faster than he may seem. But I think he could improve his Defense [ like the whole team ] and his decison making.
Okay well this is the stats he put up this season...
MPG: 31.1
PPG: 18.6
RPG: 5.5
APG: 1.6
FG%: 0.46
FT%: 0.82
Okay look Maggs is one of our main scorers, and take a look at his FT% it's pretty high and seeing as though he can draw fouls almost whenever he wants thats really going to help our team. 1. because it will equal more points. 2. Key players could become deep in foul trouble.
This next thing im going to say will sound to everyone very stupid, but before you think that take a second and just look and possibly realize how im right. Corey Maggette is just like a MiNi LeBron James. Of course James is much better, but they both share some of the same qualities. Things such as strength, both high-flyers, both have respectable mid range games, and can pretty much draw a foul when they want. Think about it on a fast break if Maggs is open and is ahead of you, you should definatly pass it up, and if he could develope his decision making skills over the offseason , and preseason, we could rely on him on the offensive end of the floor by just feeding him the ball when we need quick points. He could by far be one of the few very dominant players on our roster.
And Just for Fun....

I actually like Corey Maggette, but he isn’t a mini LeBron James.
I couldn’t find a “you’re better than that” picture, so that’s all I have.

Yeah ,Magette is the next best thing to Lebron, now let’s solve world peace.
Now wheres the rubbers? Whose got the rubbers?
I noticed there's so many of them
and there's really not that many of us.

I really dont like corey maggette..
I thought i liked him when he played for the clippers., after about 20 games as a warrior i was done. all he does is put his head down and drive looking for contact never to even score.. he’d rather be fouled then try to go strong and finish.. but the thing i really hate is his ridiculous defense.. ridiculous fouls. I’d really trade him for almost anything if we could get rid of his contract.

Corey Maggette’s passing abilities are impossible to refute because no one’s ever seen him do it.

Wrong, I was at a game where he passed the ball into the stands 4 times. It’s better if he doesn’t pass.

Maggette is a constant reminder of how bad our last offseason went

....Corey Maggete can put up stats
He has a one track mind and drives to get to the line but he doesn;t make your team better. He honestly isn’t any better than glenn Robinson. Yeah he can score but he’ll never help a team win

+1 Mags can't even sniff Big Dog's jockstrap
Both are one dimensional players but from a “get yours” stats perspective, Big Dog > Mags in pretty much every category.
LeBron James? I'm the only Ty Crane.

Um, no. When it comes to scoring points (the one dimension we’re talking about), Corey Maggette is much better than Glenn Robinson. He scores MUCH more efficiently, and at a slightly higher rate. Don’t discredit Maggette, the dude is a very good scorer, and at least deserves credit for that. Everything else is a different story, though…

I believe you are talking about the
Corey Maggette when he was in the Clipps. i am a big fan of maggs and i do think last season was not his best. If he can perform to the level where he scored 22 pointsper game a few years back in the 6th man role, i think he can be the x factor to if we have a successful season.

Corey Maggette = Injury Prone
what good are his per game stats when he doesn’t even play every game?
by Bob on Jul 4, 2009 2:46 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
maggette
i think he gets a bit too much hate around here. i liked him off the bench last year as he can provide instant offense in a 6th man role, and the team played much better with him in that role. i look forward to seeing a full year of him coming off the bench

Maggette the player probably gets too much hate. Maggette the contract doesn’t get nearly enough.

great comparison
Maggette with Glenn Robinson

Except Maggette is a very efficient scorer, while Glenn Robinson was a very inefficient scorer. Maggette helps his team when he shoots, Robinson hurt his team.

Maggette isn’t a mini-Lebron. He’s more like a pico-LeBron. Or maybe a femto-LeBron.

Lebron’s head is at the rim, Maggette’s is a foot below it. Kinda sums it up don’t ya think? lol

lol
at the first picture. I am pretty damn sure Maggette traveled during that dunk.. and If I was Maggette, I would’ve passed it off to Morrow for a dunk, never seen Morrow dunk in a game.
And who’s the one who made Magg’s nickname, “Bad Porn”?

I didn’t make it up, i remember someone wrote something like
" Maggette is like Bad Porn, sure there’s some scoring and penetration, but you’re not really liking what you’re seeing"
not really a nickname, but a metaphor I guess

Good point. The one thing I like about him is that he makes up for the missed calls we don’t get.
I was also at a game where we hosted the Clippers and Dunleavey went crazy at the refs, it was just after one of Maggette’s notrious drives, you know the one where he throws up his arms like he got hit with an axe in his back but really no one touched him? Well, he gets the whistle and is shooting free throws and all I can hear is Dunleavey yelling to the ref, “Are you kidding me? I coached this guy for ten years!” Instantly I was filled with the taste of sweet revenge and I slightly hate Maggette less for it.
by Balance on Jul 7, 2009 10:50 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
He actually only coached Maggette for 5 years, but I can understand that coaching the Clippers leads to time dilation much like traveling at near-light speed.

I love Maggette OFF THE BENCH
Let’s face it – he doesn’t move the ball around much and never will. In fact, when he tried early in the season his around the horn passes kept getting picked because he telegraphed and put them in bad spots.
So, as a starter he’s not good because his play prevents the rest of the team from getting into a flow.
However…as the 6th man he’s fabulous and maybe the best in the league! Few people can score 20 off the bench in less than 30 minutes and fewer than 15 shots. He changes a game dynamic coming off the bench and is instant offense – which is a HOT commodity as a bench player.
As is, I think this W’s team is a 46-win team. Maggette is not the problem – the lack of a big 4 is the problem.

Maggette Sucks Major Cock!!!!!!!!!!
To compare him to Lebron James is absurd!!! You should slap yourself in the face!!!!! HOMO……….

I'd like to see you call him that to his face....
Now that would be a flop I would pay to watch! Have some respect.

The problem with Maggette's game ...
… is that he epitomizes a lot of what was wrong with basketball for much of the 90s and early 00s.
He’s not a bad player. But that put-your-head-down-and-drive style (which he’s very very good at, to his credit) is just ugly. It’s not fun to watch. It doesn’t bring out the best in his teammates.
Going from having Baron as your best scorer to having Mags isn’t that big a drop, productionwise … but it’s a huge drop in style points. It’s a huge drop in teamwork. It’s a huge drop in having the TEAM offense run smoothly.
How much do those things matter?
That’s a tough question.
by Ronaldinho on Jul 6, 2009 11:31 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
In all fairness, if you’re shooting over 80% from the line the put-your-head-down-and-drive is effective (assuming you draw the fouls like Maggette or Paul Pierce) and leads to an efficient scorer (like Maggette or Pierce). Now, having the vision and awareness to locate a teammate for a better shot when Maggette drives would of course make him a better player, and maintaining good spacing and ball movement within the offense helps the offense as a whole function better.
So all in all your points are all valid, I just want to make sure we’re acknowledging the fact that Maggette does score efficiently (and at a decent rate), even if that’s all he brings to the table…
