Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

New Team Jerseys coming in 2010/ 2011.

I recieved word last week from a reliable source that the Warriors are going to be changing their Jerseys and logo by the begining of the 2010 season. He said since the league gave the OK to Oklahoma City to literally steal our Thunder, the Warriors are trying to get the league to split the cost of revamping their logo/ jerseys/ arena. Some of you may ask why they were having a fire sale of all their jerseys at the end of last season and my answer to you is..... I have no idea.

Again this came from someone working for the Warriors, no I don't have a link.

This has been common knowledge for the last year.

2009/10 will be th eleats year of our current unis. New unis are being designed for the 10/11 season. Hopefully they go retro. Old is new again!

Thank god

I never understood the lightening bolt theme. Although, I do miss Thunder. Bring back “The City”

It was supposed to show how "electrifying" the team is.

The only time those jerseys really looked nice was when the Warriors were in their “We Believe” era, when they had the wildest offense in the league and shocked the world with their thunderous arsenal of offensive juggernauts. hehe.

Other than that, the lightning bolt theme just makes me think of how crappy the team has been throughout the years; which is why we need some new threads so we can move into a winning era where Anthony Randolph is owning the NBA.

Yeah, I dig those

They should also do an alternate white one, like the one in which Sleepy Floyd is rocking the short shorts. I never did get the whole “golden gate orange” color. I mean, I realize it’s supposed to be a tip of the hat to the GG Bridge, but it just seems contrived and hackneyed. Same with the deeper blue. Nothin’ wrong with original Cal colors.

I don’t know, maybe I’m reading too much into it, but the NBA seems to be a very gendered, and racialized, league (homoerotic phrases like “a good NBA body”, changes in team colors to appear more heteronormatively “masculine” seem to point me this way)

We can't have "city" anything.

The team reps the entire Bay Area now, and if they were to focus on one city then it would most likely be Oakland.

I just have a feeling that our new jerseys will end up being different colors than Blue/Yellow, but with the same design scheme as the old school jerseys. I prefer black, blue and gold but I heard that teams can’t use the color black in new jerseys anymore.

by Precise Films Productions on Jul 6, 2009 8:14 PM PDT reply actions

As long as orange is nowhere in the color scheme, I’m happy with a change. Never liked the thunder bolt theme.

the 76ers are going back to thier

red white and blue jerseys, we should do the same and go back to the city jerseys

we gon' make 'em run, make 'em follow the lead
nelly on the side lines with tricks up his sleeve
in the bay, we go hard cause we playin' for passion
you know who it is, aint no need for askin'

We can’t go back to The City jersey’s. They’re my favorite too, but we’re no longer the San Francisco Warriors if you haven’t noticed. Something retro looking with the classic blue and yellow would be a good start.

by Missing Barry on Jul 7, 2009 8:35 AM PDT reply actions

cant we

just wear “the city” jerseys even though we arent the san francisco warriors anymore? i dont see why not. that being said id really like the new unis to go retro and either look like the city unis, the old golden state unis shown above, or a kind of combination of the two. anything to get rid of “late 90s-early 2000s looks” with the thunderbolts and the orange. thats just not us

by nhlogan on Jul 7, 2009 12:08 PM PDT up reply actions

TECHNICALLY

We still can wear The City unis. The reason why we don’t is because it costs a ton of cash to pay for the proper licensing fees. Last year the Warriors dropped The City and the Retro California look to save money.

“The reason why we don’t is because it costs a ton of cash to pay for the proper licensing fees.”

Who would we have to pay licensing fees to?

by Missing Barry on Jul 8, 2009 7:18 AM PDT up reply actions

I spoke to one of the Sales Reps last year

about this and I had the same question. All teams in the NBA don’t OWN the rights to their logos. Logos are owned by the League and teams pay a fee to use them (not sure if this applies to current logos). Since last year was such a tough ecomonic year, the Warriors opted out of not sporting anything retro to avoid paying the fees. It makes sense, other wise there is no reason to stop selling such hot items.

by VERY VERY BUSY on Jul 10, 2009 3:08 PM PDT up reply actions

I just don’t see how it’d be plausible to go back to The City as our primary jersey when “The City” is San Francisco, and we’re now based in Oakland (and representing the Golden State!). Jerseys are cool, but that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense…

by Missing Barry on Jul 8, 2009 7:18 AM PDT up reply actions

Why does everyone hate orange. Iwould like new jerseys but i hope that we can keep our colors

by GSW9 on Jul 7, 2009 1:11 PM PDT reply actions

Can’t speak for everyone, but here are my personal issues with it…

1. Blue and Gold are the California state colors.

2. Blue and Gold have always been the Golden State Warriors colors, at least up till a few years ago when some “creative” marketing team got their hands on the team’s flawless, elegant identity and decided to “improve” it.

3. No cool UNIFORM in sports or human history has ever had more than two colors (excluding white). A lot of of the best ones (Yankees, Jets, Stanford, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Texas, UNC, Duke, Harvard, Yale, Penn State, etc etc.) have only had one. A UNIFORM is a manly, straightforward thing, not a girly fashion “ensemble” with a lot of subtle “accents” and fussy “touches.” The Civil War was “the Blue and the Grey,” not “the Midnight Blue / Golden Gate Orange / Sunny Yellow and the Fuschia / Mauve / Chartreuse.”

Get off my team’s uniform, orange. Go back to Syracuse.

Regarding most awesome jerseys are only comprised of 2 main colors, I never realized that.

Agree

But if I could choose. I’ll take the orange over that ugly shade of blue we currently have.

We're going back to the run TMC jerseys

My cousin heard Fitz leak something a few months back about us going back to the jersey’s from the 90’s. I think that’s tight. Our current jersey is weak.

by sauceycor on Jul 7, 2009 1:37 PM PDT reply actions

Fitzs had some inside info on KNBR. He said he couldn't tell us everything

but we will definitly have new units for 2010/11 and yes they will be something like our run tmc unis or a variation on the theme.

by crab dribble cocktail on Jul 9, 2009 9:06 PM PDT up reply actions

the tmc jerseys

would look absolutely sick with a yellow pinstripe on the blue jersey and a yellow pinstripe on the whites. Then an alternate yellow jersey with a blue pinstripe.

by ilubthedubs on Jul 9, 2009 9:24 PM PDT reply actions

pass on yellow alternate

would remind me too much of the lakers

by AJC3317 on Jul 10, 2009 1:01 AM PDT up reply actions

And what's wrong with that?

Finally the warriors would at least “remind” their fans of winners.
