What would you ask Ronny Turiaf?

What's up everyone?

So most of you know that I like to share as much of my access with the players as I can. I'll be interviewing Ronny Turiaf sometime tomorrow afternoon and although I've got my little list of questions, I'd like to get an idea of what you guys want to hear from him. I'll obviously ask about Steph and Monta and some of the more general things, but what kinds of things are you looking for his opinions about?

Anything that's appropriate, I'll try to get to. The feature on him should probably be up on Friday sometime.

Thanks guys and I hope I can give you something you enjoy reading!

I'd like to know...

As a player on the squad, what he feels the biggest deficiency is, and which position we would most benefit at if we acquired someone else?

I always wonder if they think the way the fans/GSoM does.

i was thinking the same thing. especially with all the amare trade talk and other rumors being floated around out there. to know what his point of view is would be very interesting.

be the change you wish to see in the world.

How about...

Having taken AR under his wing, and played against(in practice) Odom for the time he was in LA, how do the 2 really compare to one another? As far as ceiling for AR, what does he think?

Thanks for allows us to give you some info pree.

Nice

I like that one. I’ll see if I can sneak it in.

by pree on Jul 8, 2009 6:15 PM PDT up reply actions

Does he prefer playing at the 4 or the 5?

How did Monta’s return change the team’s energy, if at all?

What part of his own game is he focusing on the most this summer?

I like that last one onlxn....

I always like to here what I should expect to see improvement in the new season.

“Ronny for 3!!!” …..odds anyone? LOL

Yeah, ask him about his 3 pt shooting

If he can hit a 3 he’d become our starting center :)

by mosdl on Jul 8, 2009 5:44 PM PDT up reply actions

Haha

Last year, I asked him about coming to GSW and he said he had offensive skills that he never got to show off with the Lakers because of Kobe and Gasol and Odom, etc. He uh .. will do so soon?

by pree on Jul 8, 2009 6:17 PM PDT up reply actions

Towards the end when we were all hurt

He was more active on offense, taking more jump shots and all.

If he can improve his mid range, he would get more time – nellie loves shooting centers (back when tmnt played some)

Where has he been this summer?
Has he played or practiced with the other Warriors this summer?
Does he have a chip on his shoulder for next season?
Can he PLEASE convince Morrow to do an in-game dunk at least once next season???

by IQofaWarrior on Jul 8, 2009 4:56 PM PDT reply actions

will he play for national team?
and if he will (hopefully France will qualify for EC2009 final) -how it is to play against teammate in same position

Pree, if you can work this in

I’d love to hear from a player how Nelson/GSW defensive rotations on the court are supposed to work – are the guards supposed to funnel players to the corners? middle? where is the help supposed to come from? does GSW have different versions of the man-man defensive principles, etc.

by hardcore on Jul 8, 2009 5:43 PM PDT reply actions

Hm

OK, I’ll try. That one is complicated and players aren’t big fans of talking tactics unless it’s right after a win, but I’ll see what I can do.

Fan atmosphere.....

There is no doubt Oracle is one of the loudest arenas in the NBA…. can the players really get a pump-up from this? If so, Can we see him take more responsibility for getting the crowd going…

I have to say, that Turiaf was by far one of my favourite players last year, just simply because of his sheer positive attitude and recognition of the fans. He was one of the few players that truly wore his heart on his sleeve and no matter what happens on court, all we ask for as fans ad supporters is to see the players give 110%….. so next time Monta drops his head and starts dragging his feet….I want to see Turiaf get in his face and get him pumped up! No one likes to see sulky players! ;)

It's about heart, It's about fight, It's about being a Warrior!

What’s the main difference between the locker room atmospheres with the Lakers and here? ….biggest difference between playing for Nellie and playing for Jackson.

thanks pree, keep up the good work over at HW

Has he or anyone on the team ever had a bathroom emergency during a game. LOL

My fiance seems to think Turiaf is most susceptible to this kind of emergency…don’t ask.

Love your defensive intensity, Ronny, but sometimes you seem so determined to get after shooters that you end of way out of position for defensive rebounds. For a guy with such great energy, aggressiveness, good size and long arms, your rebound rates are rather disappointing. Is this just the way you’ve always played the game, or do you think you might make more an effort in the future to “stay home” for rebounds?

Thing 1

by Sleepy Freud on Jul 8, 2009 8:17 PM PDT reply actions

I know what Turiaf will say

He’s going to apologize for not getting enough rebounds and will promise to do better.

by IQofaWarrior on Jul 8, 2009 9:08 PM PDT up reply actions

Hm

It’d have to be a question about improving rebounding rather than criticizing his positioning.

by pree on Jul 9, 2009 1:15 PM PDT up reply actions

I would ask him,

Kind of obvious answer to most people here…but

’Who’s a better shooter, Morrow or Vujacic.’

Do you ever find bugs or leftovers in your beard?

At times was impressed with his ability to pass out of the key to shooters, and when his jump shot was on it opened up the floor SO much. Making his first couple jumpers usually made a huge difference.

Using that as the premise my serious question is pretty simple:

How’s the 15 foot jump shot coming along?

Chris Cohan and Robert Rowell? Oh no hide the children!

Hey Pree

I’m probably posting this too late for your consideration, and you may not like the question, but i would wonder if he feels he is wrongly perceived as a poor rebounder. I understand that his numbers are poor, and he often doesn’t do what he should, but it seems to me that Ronny usually keeps his man off the offensive glass, which is the most important thing in defensive rebounding. As a player, I have always been taught that if the defense does it’s job rebounding, the ball should be able to land on the ground after a missed shot, without an offensive player grabbing it. It feels to me that Turiaf is smaller and less athletic than a lot of players, so he doesn’t sky high for a rebound, a la Randolph, but that he generally does a strong job of keeping his man off the glass, which is the real purpose.

I apologize for not wording that well, and i doubt it’s high on your list of things to discuss with him, but i’d be curious to see how he feels about that. I know as a player i’d be annoyed if I did my job, but let a taller, more athletic player like AR or Beans get the board, and then got in trouble for it….

Thanks Pree, I really appreciate not just your great articles and inside information, but your allowing the fans to have a voice in all of this….keep up the great work!

No problem

That’s the second time someone mentioned rebounding woes with Ronny (Sleepy did so, too). I’ll have to try to get that in.

Pree...

I would like to know how living in the U.S. has changed him and what stands out to him about America as opposed to France. Maybe ask him, if he would have liked to have played with Pietrus on the team or more French players instead of stupid Americans.

by Naticus on Jul 8, 2009 11:07 PM PDT reply actions

Thanks Pree

It probably late but ask him if he will follow Carmelo Iverson ect and cut his braids of. I hope he doesn’t Turiaf wouldn’t look the same anymore

his fans in France and if basketball is catching on over there.

Hey Pree...

Here’s one:

Ronny, it doesn’t seem to take much to get you to dance down the court, or get you up out of your seat when you’re getting a breather on the bench. What Warrior player do you think will get you dancing the most this season?

Thing 2

by olympicmike on Jul 9, 2009 8:36 PM PDT reply actions

Hey Ronny,

1. how often do you get your hair braided.
2. do you talk trash to players after you deny them at the rim.
3. whats the dirtiest thing a player has done to “cheat.”
