Amare sounds like he ain't comin'
"It's all about winning," Stoudemire said. "Why go to Golden State and try to rebuild there when I can stay here and rebuild here? The situation didn't make total sense to me. I think the Suns are trying to make the best decision for them so I've got to deal with it."

he just doesn’t understand our situation.
Its time for a change...

Maybe a blessing in disguise. If he really doesn’t want to be here, then he shouldn’t come. But he’s wrong about one thing, we have more of a future than Phoenix does. The core players he’s talking about will be together for 2 years max, while our young stars haven’t even come close to peaking yet.
Why would any all star WANT to come here. He would be justified in saying we are a mediocre team. We have made the playoffs once in the last decade+ and we are at best a first-round playoff team. I would also call that mediocre. Also, we are a franchise that is in complete chaos as far as management goes, no one likes it here.
People shouldn’t get so hurt over an all star calling us a mediocre team that he doesn’t want to play on. He is just stating the truth.
Also, people should be welcoming this deal if it goes through as planned. It would be one necessary step closer to becoming a championship contending team (we would definitely still need to make more moves to take it to the next level, like an all star SF like Odom).

I think the W's are probably turning their attention...
to other players if the Amare trade doesn’t go down. I would like to see a Maggs for Boozer or AK47. We could kill two birds with one stone with that trade. Get a quality player and dump Maggs at the same time. Who knows if the Jazz would take anything like this. If not, then just dumping Maggs for any expiring contract should be our top priority.

I'm a Warriors fan.
If I wasn’t a Warriors fan I wouldn’t want to play for Golden State either. I don’t care if they have a future all-star in Anthony Randolph, they’re still a crappy franchise and still don’t know what to do to win.
Even if Golden State makes the Playoffs, they won’t realize how good they are and will break up a Playoff team to save money on players who were irrelevant in the season; then they’ll brainwash their fans into thinking that breaking up a Playoff team was a good thing.
It’s stupid things like that that pisses off NBA players like Amare. The only way Golden State can get good players nowadays is to either draft one or grossly overpay one to join the team. They only made the Playoffs once in like the past 15 years, they haven’t proven to the league that they can develop a great team and stay consistent. They had their chance with the 21 game We Believe team but just ended up further demonstrating how they don’t understand anything by breaking them up.
Don’t get me wrong, I still like the team; we have great players in Monta and Randolph, including a great mix of veterans and shooters like Morrow and Curry. We have a great future. The problem is that most players won’t look at that, they’ll only look at our resume of what we’ve been doing in the past and in recent seasons. I don’t even think Kobe or Garnett would wanna go to Golden State.

agree...
The only way this fanchise changes its “image” is if/when Cohan sells the team to an owner who will change the culture here to that of a “winning and classy” organization.

While I wholeheartedly agree that our franchise doesn’t understand how to put a winning franchise together, I have to play devil’s advocate and put it out there that the “We Believe” team was simply not sustainable in the long term.
The stars just happened to align for us just right during that magical run. We had MIP Monta Ellis playing for us, still under his cheap rookie contract. Andris Biedrins was still playing for his cheap rookie contract. Matt Barnes was giving us valuable production for the minimum contract. Pietrus was still playing under his rookie contract. Meanwhile, Baron, JRich, SJax, Harrington (and Foyle) were all making around ~$10mil/yr.
Just re-signing Ellis/Biedrins/Baron to extensions and keeping the Baron/JRich/SJax/Harrington/Ellis/Biedrins core together already puts us very near the luxury tax or over it. And for what? A team that still can’t rebound, can’t defend the low post, can’t score in the low post, can’t make free throws, and has to rely on luring the other team into an uptempo pace to be successful.
It isn’t like we got to the NBA Finals and then were dismantled. We were a team that got hot at the end of the season, got carried by adrenaline and emotion and Baron’s phenomenal swag, and met a team in the first round that we’ve always had a huge advantage against matchup-wise. We weren’t championship-calibur, not even close.
I still believe the JRich dump was the smart move to make. I still believe passing on a huge financial commitment to Baron Davis was the smart move to make. But after that, the FO panicked and lost their damn minds. I don’t think the breaking up of the “We Believe” team is what got us here today. It was the way we tried to rebuild overnight by extending all the players we had and signing whomever we could at the time.

i hate his attitude
sorry im not blaming him but i just dont like y he says that the warriors isnt his decision he rather stay in phx. he’s just too picky to me
Maturity
Amare seems to lack Maturity. His “tweets”, soundbites – he’s all over the place. His game has never showed Maturity – just raw, physical ability. Tremendous Raw Physical Ability.
But as injury prone as he is, he will lose that explosiveness and only be left with skill and hoopssmarts.
Trading for Amare is a desperate trade that could be a boon, but also a colossal bust that could set the W’s back years. The latter is more likely with Amare’s history.
I’d rather see this team play and either make a mid-season swap or go for it in 2010.
I think standing pat, this team is a 7/8 seed – solidly. No better.
And if they are, then this will be a franchise on the rise, appealing to someone like Bosh.
Stand pat – get someone who wants to be here and understands the potential of this team.
if amare came here, we wouldn't be "rebuilding" anymore as he puts it
we’d have the team we want to win a championship with. plus i don’t see the same amount of YOUNG talent that we have on any other team in the league, which would mean success for years to come.
We would still be “building” though. An Amare trade would only be one step towards an ultimate goal. We would still need to make at least one more big move in order to contend for a championship. We do have a lot of talent to back up All-Star Amare, but realistically with how stacked a couple of the teams are getting we would need to get an All-Star caliber SF OR magically have small ball work going all the way (far less likely).

“i don’t see the same amount of YOUNG talent that we have on any other team in the league”
And I’m sure fans of most other NBA teams also feel the same way about their own team…

Blazers? Thunder? Even the Grizz has a pretty good 3 with Mayo/Gay/Gasol. You’re blinded by your love of the Warriors, there are many other teams with great young talent out there besides us.

Why go to Golden State and try to rebuild there when I can stay here and rebuild here?
It’s simple, Amar’e… because Golden State will give you a max deal and Phoenix won’t.
I wouldn’t call this soundbite promising in terms of our chances of getting him, but I wouldn’t call it definitive, either. Above all, Amar’e will want to get paid, and his options for getting the money he wants are starting to dwindle. Next year’s low cap estimate is bad news for him, as is the removal of several teams (Detroit, Dallas, Toronto) from the ’10 sweepstakes.
Amar’e’s best shot at getting a max deal is signing an extension with whatever team has him next June… it’s looking like that won’t be Phoenix. It has to be a team that A) is willing to extend him and B) can offer Phoenix a package they find worthwhile. So far, we’re the only team that fits the bill.
I won’t be heartbroken if things fall through here… with the shrinking of the ‘10 jackpot, I think Bosh is a slightly greater possibility than he was, and I’d prefer him to Amar’e. But I don’t think this dismissive quote is the end of the Amar’e/Warriors story.
I would also prefer Bosh over Amare. He’s younger, better teammate, not as big of a prima dona, much less injury issues, and I think has a better basketball IQ than amare does.

I always like Amare's game but...
Read article on ESPN Insider and the Suns are saying now there not trading him. His attitude is a little bad azz. But I think our team is going to be fine without him. I still am hopeful we pick via trade (a big PF or Center Vet). Were going to just be fine. We need to just for once keep our main pieces and see what we can be and be patient. How many years have we jumped the gun on our young guys and trade them to see them blossum somewhere other than here?? Way too many. I hope they have learned something form the past 15 years of doing so.
The Arizona Republic reports the Suns pushed back a meeting with Amare Stoudemire because the front office was in Orlando talking with Grant Hill. They expected to tell Stoudemire that they are keeping him in their plans for the coming season.
So many things have been reported both ways about this trade that I wouldn’t trust anything until it actually happens. This could just be a bluff to try to get Golden State to react and offer more.
Personally, I’d say this deal will eventually go through. The Suns need to trade Amare and they will soon find out this is the best deal they can get for him (Andris + Beli + Wright).
