Hmmm..
Is it just coincidence, but is it kind of odd that Riley has not had ANY recent discussions within the last week or so with:
Andris Biedrins
Brendan Wright
Marco Belinelli.
Hmm… interesting interview indeed.
Golden State Warriors fan since 1984. The Filipino sensation!

He may not have had any discussions with Marco, but he will be sending Russell Turner to Europe to watch him play with the NT in the qualifiers in August.

Hmmmm
Riley hasn’t talked to Beans or Belly cuz there out of the country. Did u hear the show? And if there going to be traded? The players being traded don’t always know from the GM’s mouth. GO WARRIORS 2010!!

interesting interview
sounds like Acie Law had a better first impression than Marcus Williams and it is very interesting how the 3 people he has had the least discussions with are Belinelli, Beans, and Bwright. I wonder how Monta is doing as far as working out, towards the end of last year his quickness was really close to being 100% but his jumping ability wasn’t quite the same, hopefully he gets that back by training camp.

not just how he jumps
but how he lands, and what that does to the damaged joint when repeated a few hundred times. healthy ankles get dinged from bad landings or stepping on another’s big feet—ellis needs to play with more awareness rather than faster or jumping higher.

So far, I like that Riley has kept in touch with most of the players during the summer
Of course, I’m dying to know what those conversations were like.

Belinelli is better than CJ
Belinelli is better than Azubuike or Maggette.

Dang, I should have worked on that animated gif this morning before I left for work
that would have been the perfect spot to use it!

can someone tell why I was warned for this comment?
This is just my opinion so to sanction me seems to be harsh?

i really am starting to like riley
He talks well in interviews, seems to know what hes doing, what the team needs and is being patient. Of course it will depend on what moves he makes but at least he didnt get desperate and made the amare move before we drafted curry.

Exactly. He’s a man who sounds like he knows what he’s doing. The impression that he has been giving us is that of a competent, reliable, and jolly man. I’m very happy that he is the new GM.
Ellis to the RIM!
Monta for the win?! YES!

+1
My favorite moment was when he made a very clear point of saying that Randolph, for all his newfound skills, needs to make sure not to lose his “rebounding knack” — indeed, to improve on it. Yup: here is a guy who understands basketball. Plus, he just seems like a smart, straightforward, commonsensical guy. Kind of like Nellie, but without the inflated ego and the mind games.

Why the hell isn’t he the coach then. Sounds like everything we want from Old Man Nelson and everything we don’t.
I’m starting the Larry Riley for Head Coach movement. Put Smart as GM and continue the cycle of the assistant coach to Gm to coach.

I don't like Nelson or Rowell
but Riley is doing a fairly decent job so far. It seems like he has a mission and a purpose for this team.

A real personable, likeable dude. It’s not like these types of interviews really reveal all that much, but I was glad to hear his full-throated endorsement of CJ as a player… we should really think about keeping him. The communication with players also seems like a good thing, given the reports of utter lack of organizational communication in years past. I always wish defense was stressed a little more in interviews like this, but overall, good stuff.

I was thinking about this
“I always wish defense was stressed a little more in interviews like this, but overall, good stuff.” – I watched that “day before summer league” fanshot video, and they showed glimpses of how the team practiced on offense. I was thinking, why don’t the Warriors promo videos and stuff focus more on defense? Why not get the average fans into being aware of defense, thinking about defense, talking about defense, and maybe even DEMAND defense?
Of course the obvious short answer is that offense sells tickets. But I would like to see more defensive minded promos from the Warriors once in a while that show how the practice and prepare their defensive schemes.

Defense looks boring on camera
More exciting to show offensive practices. Plus they probably do more offense to see how in shape the players are.

riley repeated he was looking for size, rebounding, defense
anyone else find that ironic, with the trade rumor for more star power that would bring a net loss in boards and d? at the rate other teams are securing established forwards, the best options might be the undrafted free agents showing their stuff in the summer leagues.
