How many points does Morrow get? It says SG.
PG: Brandon Roy
SG: Mike Miller
SF: Carmelo Anthony
PF: LeBron James
C: Kevin Garnett
Coach: Don Nelson
Hahaha I didn’t even bother making a bench, which makes my team suck even though I have a great starting 5.
But damn, think about it. Don Nelson sucks as a coach but you can’t blame him for having a sucky squad last season. He also helped the 06-07 and 07-08 Warriors reach their full potential, except I think he should have played the bench a little more in 07-08.
BUT, give him a team like THIS and this offensive mastermind will demolish any defense.
With the length of this team, there’s no way he can go small ball. Also, he’ll have the big man that he’s never had before. He never had a dominant 20/10 big man like KG since he had C-Webb back in 94.
Also, with LeBron Jame’s size, strength, and versatility he’ll be able to play the power forward position under Nellie. The ultimate point forward, he can literally average a triple double playing in Nellie’s offense. He was 2nd in the league in fast break points (behind Monta) in 07 and 08, yet he doesn’t even play for an up tempo team! Playing for Nellie will add at least 5 ppg to his scoring average just off fastbreak points alone. LeBron will still be effective at this position, and has a great supporting cast to get his assists.
Kevin Garnett will be that defensive force that Nellie has never had. Imagine Nellie ball with a dominant defender, that’s Kevin Garnett. KG’s rebounding will lead to more outlet passes which will lead to a crazy amount of fastbreak points, making our up tempo game deadly.
If the game slows down, Nellie will finally have a team capable of scoring in the half court instead of the chuckers he has in Golden State. Garnett has post game, Carmelo has post game, Lebron has post game, and Brandon Roy is capable of making great plays.
Too bad we don’t have a bench, though. =[

Haha. I think I actually prefer sam’s team, though I did manage to squeeze in one more Warrior than he did. Two, if you count Kirilenko… ;-)
On the choices overall: I’m extremely puzzled by the number of votes for Kobe over LeBron. LeBron’s the clear better player right now, and he’s over six years younger — just entering his prime rather than leaving it. Since the goal is presumably to “create your own franchise,” not pick some abstract “best team,” it shouldn’t even be a question. Heck, if you’re creating a franchise, you’re almost certainly better off taking Pau Gasol than 31 year-old Kobe.
All those who picked Kobe: please explain. Is it his sweet and sincere personality?
There will be no extra point!
Yeah...
Sam’s team also rocks. He is stronger at PG, but I love your value at center. Plus I’m a Warrior fan so the more Warriors the better. ; )
Thing 2
Reading through these this is my exact though. Any team that doesn’t include Lebron is not an intelligently put together team. Maybe if you want Durant or something at SF and went with Paul at PG there could be an argument, but still…

Dream Nellie-Ball Roster:
PG: Steve Nash (5): A better Nellie-style PG, there is none.
SG: Kobe Bryant (7): Why not? Nelson would love him.
SF: Shane Battier (3): Smart, versatile defensive stopper with good range is one of the most efficient players in the league.
PF: Anthony Randolph (3): Who am I kidding? Randolph feels like the biggest bargain on the list to THIS fanboy.
C: Joakim Noah (3) : High motor workhorse provides rebounding, defensive toughness inside.
Bench:
Steve Blake (2): 42.7% from behind the arc, a fantastic 1 to .3 AST to TO ratio, Blake provides quality minutes to spell Nash or Kobe.
Bruce Bowen (2): Brings championship presence and tough (if official-aided) defensive play off the bench.
Joel Przybilla (2): Would have been Turiaf but he isn’t on the list, so he could cost 3 points. Przybilla blocks shots like Turiaf and rebounds better, but doesn’t run the floor as well. Spells Noah directly, or slides Noah to PF to spell Randolph.
Coach: Mike D’Antoni….just kidding. The man, the myth, Don Nelson, of course!
To correct
Przybilla blocks shots about half as effectively as Turiaf, but rebounds at twice the rate.
and rebounds are much more important
especially when you still block around a shot a game.

“Not trying to hate, but seriously? With Robin Lopez at center and 6’7” Craig Smith backing him up? Are you talking about the D-League championship?"
You do realize that team has Lebron James, right? Lopez and Craig Smith might make a terrible rotation up front, but Lebron James is on that team. That’s a good team.
by Missing Barry on Aug 9, 2009 7:22 PM PDT up reply actions
Oh yeah
and how many championships has LeBron led his team to? I am not saying it is not a good squad, just not a “championship squad”. Serious lack of a center.
by Rob Kurz blocks Yao Ming on Aug 9, 2009 10:41 PM PDT up reply actions
I agree, it is seriously lacking at C. C’s around the NBA just aren’t that good, though, and with Devin Harris, Mayo and Randolph around him, that’s easily a championship squad. Just because Lebron hasn’t won one yet doesn’t mean he isn’t the best player in the league. Kobe hadn’t lead his team to one before this year (#2 to Shaq for first 3), and he wouldn’t have done it this year without Gasol. Does that make Kobe any less of a championship player? No, just like Lebron isn’t any less of a championship player because he hasn’t won one, yet. Lebron is the best player in the NBA, lead a pretty bad Cleveland team to the best record in the league…yeah I’d definitely take my chances with that squad.
I agree a better team could be made out of this system, and Robin Lopez just isn’t a very good player at all, but compared to what’s in the NBA right now…that’s definitely a very quality team overall.
by Missing Barry on Aug 10, 2009 7:23 AM PDT up reply actions
Well I guess it depends how you define “championship squad”. I thought the dude meant winning a championship. I agree that they could probably get there, but against teams in the NBA now and the other teams people are coming up with in this thread, I do not think that they could actually win it. I mean, even if Robin Lopez got 10 times better, he would still probably get in foul trouble, and then who do you have backing him up? Are you going to play LeBron at center? Randolph? Smith? I just do not see it working. I agree it would be a “quality team” but I would probably draw the line at “championship squad”. I just do not see LeBron carrying them that far with that much suck at center.
by Rob Kurz blocks Yao Ming on Aug 10, 2009 10:24 PM PDT up reply actions
Fair enough, I don’t think it stacks up with other squads from this thread, either. It could definitely be improved. If you put that squad into the current NBA, though, I’d like its chances. Lebron is that good. Plus I’m assuming the other 4 spots have a couple of bigs guys capable of coming in to hack-a-Shaq if nothing else…
by Missing Barry on Aug 11, 2009 6:51 AM PDT up reply actions
Maybe if there were more serviceable bigs on the bench, then yeah. That team would need to have some more “beef” as much as I hate that term, lol.

I don't get why everyone thinks Doc is a good coach.
He sucked until he got 3 superstars. I don’t think it’d be that hard to win a championship when you have three players of that caliber.
he won coach of the year in orlando with a quite putrid team
besides T Mac.
He’s a great coach.
Also, not too many coaches would have won a championship with a roster as flawed as the celtics that year.
Not too many coaches could get 3 superstars to buy into 100% defensive effort all the time.

Revised Version: we own the Lakers.
PG: Derron Williams-6
SG: Anthony Morrow-2
SF: Shane Battier-3
PF: Anthony Randolph-3
C: Yao Ming-6
C: Nesterovic-2
SF/PF: Matt Barnes-2
PG/SG: Stephen Curry-2
Jerry Sloan
I took liberties with Curry. He’s probably a 3.
I hate those normal-sized midgets. What are they called again? Oh, yeah. People.
My team
Rose-5
Miller-2
Lewis-4
Randolph-3
Howard-7
Bench:
Morrow-2
Fisher-2 (even though I hate the guy)
Speights-2
My team
Dam I know it aint allowed but this team would be pretty dam deep and at 27 points:
Fisher-2
Morrow-2
LeBron-7
Randolph-3
Howard-7
Bench:
Miller-2
Speights-2
Farmar-2
With Sloan as the coach
dream team
Westbrook – 3
Wade – 7
Green – 4
Randolph – 3
Noah – 3
Bench:
Pryzbilla – 2
Nick Young – 2
Earl Clark – 3
D’Antoni’s the coach. Might swap Westbrook and Green for Rondo and Ariza.
I dunno about Green, Noah, Young or Clark, but a Westbrook/Wade backcourt would be a whole lot of fun to watch.
Thing A
alright, check this one out
Westbrook – 3
Wade – 7
Ariza – 3
Randolph – 3
Horford – 4
Bench:
Vanilla Gorilla – 2
Kirilenko – 3
Courtney Lee – 2
Haha, the Noah and Young picks rose from their knack for exploding for 30+ in 2k9. I guess I might replace Green with Lewis but that contract would make tear me up every time I saw it.
And fwiw, I don’t hate you, man. Other people kind jumped to that conclusion (no idea where that came from, heh) but I really do have the utmost respect for you (except for the Niner fanhood. You’re better than that!)
All Stars
Steve Nash – 5
Kobe Bryant – 7
Reshard Lewis – 4
Anthony Randolph – 3
Joel Pryzbilla – 2
Ty Lawson – 2
Bruce Bowen – 2
Anthony Morrow – 2
That’s a terrible defensive team. Kobe rarely puts the effort in, and none of those other guys can guard the position you have them listed at in the least (maybe Prz a bit, but he doesn’t give you any off the ball D anymore).

Couldn't do just one...and I got lazy with the bench peeps.
Nash – 5
Rudy Fernandez – 3
Ariza – 3
Randolph – 3
Dwight Howard – 7
Augustine – 2
Gallinari – 2
Lopez – 2
Coach D’antoni
or
Deron Williams – 6
Mike Miller – 2
Trevor Ariza – 3
Tim Duncan – 6
Greg Oden – 4
Derick Fisher – 2
Corey Brewer – 2
Joel Pryzbilla* – 2
coach – Jerry Sloan
Is it just me or
Does it seem like it should be against the law to be able to draft
LeBron
Anthony Randolph
Deron Williams
together?
That is a crazy powerful trio. AR has to prove himself this year, but really is a steal in this game.
I wish I had 1 more point so I could have Azibuike not Barnes
But here we go…
Deron Williams (6)
Anthony Morrow (2)
LeBron (7)
Anthony Randolph(3)
Marc Gasol (3)
Bench:
Matt Barnes (2)
Pryzbbilla (2)
Derek Fisher (2)
This starting 5 would have a good 5 years together if they all clicked, which I think is the most important part of this exercise. You need to have a solid core with bench players that can come and go while providing experience.
1 – Westbook – 3
2 – Ellis – 4
3 – B. Roy – 6
4 – AR – 3
5 – Oden 4
Subs
Morrow – 2
Yi – 2
Ariza – 3
HC – Phil Jackson or if I couldn’t get him I’d go with Adelmen
Rafael Rodriguez: #8 on our list, tearing up Scottsdale, and has been alive long enough to see the Warriors make the playoffs once.

other than Fisher I like that team a lot. (not surprising as our teams share 6 players) I’m a little bit shocked at how many people are picking Fisher. I’d much rather have Augustin, Jack, Holiday, Lawson, Teague, Maynor, Williams, Dooling, Blake, or Bynum as my backup PG…especially if its a franchise so youth is probably should be more valuable.
Thing A
The best!
This is a team with players that play multiple positions
Starters
1. Rondo (5) PG
2. Iguadala (6) SG/SF
3. R. Lewis (4) SF/PF
4. Scola (3) PF

LOL
My goal was to beat the Lakers. I thought Yao Ming created big problems for them, so I made him my centerpiece along with Derron Williams (who is superior to Paul on defense), as PG. Two huge match-up problems for the Fakers. Also, Derron’s passing style would be complemented well by having Morrow at the 2, moreso than Paul. I couldn’t afford Paul anyway and couldn’t afford LeBron either. Besides, Kobe seems able to defend him fairly well.
I hate those normal-sized midgets. What are they called again? Oh, yeah. People.

Bench:
Jarrett Jack (2)
Andrei Kirilenko (3)

I had a very tough time deciding if I wanted Chris Paul or LeBron James as the franchise player on my team. But, DRose and LeBron seems a lot more potent than CP3 and Hedo Turkoglu…
GET RAMON SESSIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4.5 MIL FOR 5 YEARS
Ramon Sessions (3)
Monta Ellis (3)
Lebron James (7) THIS IS THE FANTASY PART, OTHERWISE THIS COULD BE US
Anthony Randolph (3)
Andris Biedrins (5)
Javale Mcgee (2)
Anthony Morrow (SG)
Austin Daye (2)
That’s a talented team for sure. The starting lineup also doesn’t have a single player that can hit a 3. Teams will be packing the lane…

So anyone please tell me why we are not offering Ramon Sessions a contract, ? Is it because he isnt a 3 pt chucker?
I know we have guard glut, but trades especially for expirrings are easy enough, and Sessions is a step up from anything we have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We might have a guard glut, but we definitely do not have a PG glut. Our expirings, even if we keep them, don’t figure to get significant PT.

Why waste points on Nene? Take a 3 point C and upgrade Derrick Rose to Chris Paul. Superstars win championships, not a collection of good players.
