Around SBN: Africa Cup Of Nations Semifinal: Black Stars Ripe For Upset?

"The simple fact is that Roth keeps getting hired because he has a good track record. His specialty is said to be working with big men (he helped Pau Gasol and Dirk Nowitzki adapt their games to the NBA, and he worked with Hasheem Thabeet in the weeks leading up to this year's NBA Draft)... This is great for Roth, obviously, and it's a great hire for the Warriors, who have several players like Anthony Randolph, Anthony Morrow and Brandan Wright who need to start harnessing their raw ability and develop it into workable NBA games."

Welcome to the Golden State Warriors' newest assistant coach!

It also continues the recent trend of D-League coaches becoming NBA assistants, such as the aforementioned Gates and Robert Pack, formerly of Rio Grande Valley and now of the New Orleans Hornets.

I never thought of the D-League as a place for not only players, but also coaches to show what they can do and get to the next level. Makes sense though.

Yeah, I have been a bit concerned about Don Nelson’s ability (or inability?) to coach big men.

Welcome to the Pit of Despair! Don't even think about trying to escape.
