Ellis and Jackson Trade?

Well I guess Jackson still really wants to leave and now Ellis thinks that it is just not going to work with Curry in the backcourt. Why? It is just not going to work people "I am Monta Ellis I ride mopeds and do what ever I feel like doing, I don't have any regrets I am just like my big brother Stephen Jackson! Thanks bro for teaching me the ropes on how to be a savvy, non-collegiate, business shark who looks after number one!"

So it seems that two out of three of the Warriors captains (Big thanks to the Latvian Prince on not falling in with the wrong crowd) have decided it is just "not going to work" in Oakland. Ellis publicly ridiculed the idea of having two small gaurds in the back court because sometimes, The game is eventually going to slow down."

The only thing that needs to slow down is the ridiculous ego's that belong to Jackson and Ellis. Are you Jordan and Pippen, or something? Have you been able to do anything for the Warriors that has been productive besides declare a need for a trade?

Speaking of a trade....hmm... It seems that I have been investigating possible ways of disposing the rubbish that is stinking up Oakland. How about a deal with the Suns and we bring back a fan favorite and an Allstar for Ellis and Jackson. Check this trade out and see if would benefit the Dubs or should we just let our ego-centric duo run Golden State into the ground for the rest of the year?

I know this is unlikely but it is possible and think of what the Warriors could do with this! Let me know what your thoughts are on the trade and we will see if any shipment is in the near future for the Bay Area Brats?

Jackson has quite a negative trade value (long, over priced, player getting older, bad attitude, potential locker room cancer, potential self destruction, player disliked by D.Stern) and trading Monta Ellis right now would be silly. The writing between the lines is that he wants a trade and that Nelson/Rowell would not be sad to see him go, and more importantly we would get pennies on the dollar for trading him now. We should let him go show that his ankle is 100% and that he is back.

We should be blowing up the phones looking to dump Jack for anything with a slightly better contract than his and we should wait till trade deadline and see if there are any takers for Ellis.

Haven't we learned that it's not going to happen???

I mean…After Amare’s comments on the Warriors, do you really want him on the team? I sure as hell don’t. I hope he gets his other eye poked out now..lol. So that’s out of the question…though…I think the Suns would like a player like Ellis, but his name is Barbosa.

As for Ellis….I’m not sure where this is all coming from? I heard on KNBR this morning his " I can’t, I can’t, I can’t be in the same backcourt as Curry…" quote. But I want to wait and hear more of how he said it and how he meant it before I make judgement. A lot of things are taken out of context w/ the media.

As for Jackson, I DON’T blame the guy. He’s a passionate player who likes winning, and this organization has shown NO initiative in putting together a winning team. Every years since “We Believe” they’ve just taken a step back from the team w/ promises of big things to come. With nothing to show for it. WHY? Because we have some of the best fans in the NBA and Cohan knows he can throw out a mediocre team and we’ll be there….hoping for another playoff run.

Jackson is a NBA player, and it’s all business, I’m a die hard Warriors fan, but if I were to think that Jackson owes any of us fans anything other than going out and playing hard, I’d be stupid. And turnovers, attitude and rants aside, the guy has done that, that’s all I can ask for as a fan.

We have this organization’s front office to blame for the state of the team. Not the players. THEY don’t owe us anything, but effort, it’s the WARRIORS franchise that does owe us for the support we give them.

Just like Baron, Just like J-Rich, Just like Matt, Stephen poured his heart into the team. And it was only a matter of time before you start realizing that your not getting the same back. The contract extension was nice, but I think it was a “Maybe this will keep him tame” type of move.

it's true tho...

Having both Monta and Curry in the backcourt would not work on defense. That is what Monta meant. He didn’t mean it like he doesn’t want to play with Curry. I’m sure both would complement each other well on offense, but on defense I can’t imagine either one of them guarding someone like Kobe. He mentions that as well…not specifically Kobe, but the bigger 2-guards.

While I do agree with Monta, I didn’t agree with him saying it to the media like that. With the way he kept his answer short, it did initially sound like he does not want to play with Curry. Until he was able to elaborate more on it, you were able to see what he was trying to say.

could it really be worse than our guard defense last year?

Jason Richardson (A Golden State Legend)

Fan favorite, but if a no-time all-star who has been traded twice in two years, neither time for what anyone would consider star-value, ‘legend’ stops meaning much. Or perhaps it’s the “legend of a pretty good player who never warranted the money he’s being paid”.

As a Suns fan, I have only this to say:

Dream. On! You really think the Suns are going to ship away their premier offensive player and their starting shooting guard for Monta Ellis and spare parts? Really? I don’t mean to be overly derisive, but like the above poster said, you might as well propose a Monta-for-LeBron trade….

by Silkster on Sep 29, 2009 10:40 AM PDT reply actions

you were stating the obvious, not being overly derisive. it’s good to have fans of the other team involved with a hypothetical trade explain why it’s never going to happen. the added perspective is nice.

don't get me wrong about j-rich but

The dude is a volume type shooter and we don’t need that. Sure he is a helluva athlete (dunks) but the guy is getting old and it’s not like his defense was great and he’s also injury prone.

They want out!!

Jackson wants to win. Ellis can’t play along side of players with no rookie. So be it. Let’s ship them out. But who would take a chance on these two straight talking superjocks? Here’s my proposal…

Trade Ellis to Dallas you are in need of youth and excitement. Surround Ellis is veteran leadership and he flourish in a Mavericks uniform.
Trade Jackson to a team with playoff potential. I can see Jackson blazing up and down the court with Brandon Roy. Jackson’s swagger and passion to win will take Portland a step closer to the ship.

Ellis for Howard
Jackson for Blake & Outlaw

PG Curry – Blake – Watson
SG Buke – Morrow
SF Howard – Maggette
PF Randolph – Wright
C Biedrins – Turiaf

Jackson for Blake and Outlaw is really interesting… But I’d only want Blake if we also lost Ellis somehow… We don’t need 6 PGs on the roster.

by samuraaaaiiiiiii on Sep 29, 2009 12:47 PM PDT up reply actions

I’m thinking, in order to trade these guys, we need to pick a franchise that makes bad moves just like us. Since we already used up the Pacers and gave them Murphleavy, we have to look somewhere else. How about the Bobcats, who are perpetually known for making bad personnel choices? They’ve also been noted to be shopping Raja Bell.

Charlotte Bobcats get:
PG/SG – Monta Ellis
SG/SF – Stephen Jackson
2010 1st Round Pick

Golden State Warriors get:
SF – Gerald Wallace
SG – Raja Bell
SG – Dontell Jefferson (makes the money work)

Now despite me talking about how bad the moves that Charlotte makes are… they would actually be getting the best player in this deal – Monta Ellis. He is also the youngest player in the deal. We get a solid, smarter two-way player in Gerald Wallace, and a non-headcase Stephen Jackson clone in Raja Bell. The reason we would probably have to give up the first rounder as well is the differences in contracts. Since Raja Bell is expiring, he’s probably worth a whole lot.

Do I think they’d do this? Probably not, since the league is all about not being tied into long term money right now… But if this is even remotely possible or close to a deal that would get done, I’d do it in a heartbeat.

Another possibility to entice the Bobcats would involve finally giving them Brandan Wright…

Charlotte Bobcats get:
PG/SG – Monta Ellis
SG/SF – Stephen Jackson
PF – Brandan Wright
(2010 1st Round Pick – Maybe not needed?)

Golden State Warriors get:
SF – Gerald Wallace
SG – Raja Bell
SF – Vladimir Radmanovic

Radmanovic has a two year deal, so it would expire before the financial mess occurs, but this may have to be an option in order to get Charlotte to agree. Also, VladRad won a championship with the Lakers if I’m not mistaken… so the FO could argue they gave up Wright because VladRad he knows how to win.

by samuraaaaiiiiiii on Sep 29, 2009 1:06 PM PDT reply actions

Damn, why would phoenix do that deal?

I guess a starting lineup of Nash, Ellis, Jackson, Hill, and Lopez is scary…

I wouldn’t say I hate Maggette. I just hate him for our team. Some teams might really benefit from having Maggs, which gives him some trade value at least. Baron’s contract is vastly worse than Maggs. It’s HUGE and Baron has been worse than Maggs.

but on the flip side

how much of it was being unhappy in LA etc. Reuniting w/ jack and monta + better supporting cast (well thats questionable but biedrins is better now than 3 years ago, randolph, buike, morrow).

The warriors are a mess, I’d prefer we go another direction as much as the next frustrated warriors fan. At this point i’d settle for baron back and atleast being an exciting team that will challenge for playoffs than being on verge of ANOTHER rebuild

If we take away our GSW bias, we r probably viewed as just as big a joke as clippers nationally

The front office and the players. Ellis.

Rowell and the players

Everybody on the team obviously hates Rowell. When our players speak poorly of the Warriors’ “Front office” and “Management”, just who exactly are they referring to? It comes to Rowell. Not his henchmen, who fear execution upon the first utter of protest, certainly not the MENACING Larry Riley, and Nelson, he’s just in a league of his own, a master politician and a brilliant, stubborn coach.

You read things like, "Jackson’s lack of interest for a “fake” relationship with Rowell." Yeah, it’s fake now, quite too simply because Jackson recognized the crucial ingredient when negotiation times rolled around, that Bobby is a tool. Like a tool, Jack did the smart thing and beat the loser at his own game. The same game he supposedly was so much better than Chris Mullin at doing.

I don’t blame Jackson. I mean let’s be honest! How many of you as fans, can’t freaking stand the Warriors!? You’re just a fan. Try being a player and wading through this muck of idiocy that just refuses to release it’s hold. He’s an old school kind of player that believes in going to work. We rode that guy every game last year and he gave it his best shot. He’s just not good enough. Not his fault. I don’t buy this talk about him being a locker room cancer. I think we can get a good deal for he and Monta, together.

Ellis, Jackson, and Nelson are not the problem this team is facing. The problem is clearly the blundering Rowell. His shaftings and rapes of unsuspecting GM’s, players, assistants, and whoever other unfortunate office soul, not important enough for mention, are unforgiven and he should be made to pay for them in full.

On Ellis

Ellis is the same player. He looked good at 90% by season’s end of last year. He should be sharpened up by the time the team’s ready to go. Who knows, he may be surprised how talented and willing Curry is to share the ball and provide all the backdoor alley-oop Monta highlights on SC. That might even be enough to keep him rolling until the deadline comes along, and we have major takers.

It will be interesting to see how consistent players like Randolph and Morrow will be this season, with all the hard work they have done in the off year. If they meet a high level of expectation, and with factors like a healthy Maggette coming off of the bench (which I don’t think is credited enough), a motivated Stephen Jackson playing hard for the recognition of a contender come the half way mark of the season, and a healthy, competitive Monta putting up 26 and 5 every game, we’re really not in that bad a position. Yet. Obviously with the “Front Office” still around, anything can be mucked up.

But our team, and it’s superior role players like Azubuike and Turiaf, has a great chance of winning some substantial games before it comes time to deal and add player’s around our proven or unproven youthful talent. Hopefully it’s for (a) tough player(s) who can defend and score. And hopefully Nellie sticks around long enough to score us a nice draft pick.

I actually think dealing Monta would be the best move

if Stephen Curry proves that he can man the starting point better than Ellis. I don’t know how much an undersized scoring guard can turn a team into a contender. There was Iverson. Does Monta have a chance to be as great?

I think the Warriors would do well to start thinking of Morrow as their shooting guard of the future. I really believe he’s going to be in a few all-star games. He seems to thirst for an understanding of the game, and has enough competitive spirit to want to dominate it as well. I can really see him becoming a mini-Larry Bird or a Paul Pierce. He can be a physical guard, someone who wears you down with his shoulder, takes his time with the ball, can pull up anywhere on the floor, and it’s obvious that he is a student of the game. So, we should see his potential max out. That isn’t always a sure thing with most players.

Trading Monta could land us a dominate player whether its the star big man, or someone like Thaddeus Young. I have good feeling about the rookie, and I would rather have a great pure point guard, than a scoring combo guard. Morrow may be capable of eventually giving us 25 a night. We need one more very good all-round veteran player, and this team is winning playoff games.

by lilboots on Sep 30, 2009 3:52 AM PDT up reply actions

I think you’re overstating Morrow’s potential. Of course, if he got really buffed and started playing some 3, that might help avoid some matchup problems for him. He’s not the most athletic guy in the world. I think he’ll be about the top 3 pt. shooter in the league for a long time to come, though.

I think you’re overstating Morrow’s potential.

You mean you don’t think Morrow is a “mini Larry Bird”? C’mon man, all he has to do is double his rebound rate, quintuple his assist rate, and take a 29-win team (the Celtics’ record before Bird arrived) to 61 wins (their record his rookie season).

Hater!
