Randolph in Fight
Let me Preface this by saying that the original post was taken down (presumably by GSOM).
I have heard through the grapevine that Randolph really DID get into a fight last Tuesday at Club Spin in Walnut Creek.
Apparently Randolph was being antagonized by some haters saying that he "wasn't black." Anyways, blows were thrown.
Personally I don't understand why discourse of this subject would not be allowed. So plant-rumors about Wright bulking up are acceptable, but we can't discuss the off-court conduct of one of our young stars?
This isn't entirely a bad thing if he can learn to give himself a buffer and avoid those situations.
I don't really think that it will be a big deal for Randolph, but I don't see why discussion wouldn't be allowed.
Heads Up: The link leads you to WW.net discussion (which was allowed) and then back to the original post, which was nuked.

Here is the legit link.
Still wondering how it really went down.
Chris Cohan and Robert Rowell? Oh no hide the children!
unfortunate but AR is not Barkley
a 20 year old gets in a fight at a club and people wig out and pass judgment on AR yadayada, sheesh. Who knows how it went down, what caused it, if it really happened etc…
Charles barkley tosses someone out of a window years ago and other players do stupid stuff alll the time, players are people too who make stupid desiscions or act off emotion like us all, plus if the “reports” are correct and people were instigating maybe they deserved a smack in the jaw, probably served the right.
not sure why GSOM would take it down not the first time the head honchos running the site make questionable edit calls.
Yes, well. To their credit if this stays up then I will have effectively eaten some of my words.
Whatever, I’m willing to take the hit.

It probably has something to do with the fact that this is an unsubstantiated rumor and we have no evidence or reputable source that it actually happened?

An eyewitness account and a separate, unconnected blog.

Chris Cohan and Robert Rowell? Oh no hide the children!
Well, based on Atma’s comments after mine (that I didn’t read prior to posting), apparently this kind of speculation isn’t discouraged. That said, in response to your douchey comment, what eyewitness account are you referencing, exactly? As for an unconnected blog being evidence, I point you to this. Not the same situation, but the point is you’ve given us an an article that contains 6 sentences, none of them saying any more than, " We have confirmed that Randolph is considered a suspect in an assault that occurred in front of the club and that police would like to speak with him." Discussing a fight he got into based on that looks an awful lot to me like we’re discussing an unsubstantiated rumor…

“we’re discussing an unsubstantiated rumor”
My source (and i originated the fan post) was an eye witness account.

Could you recount the details of said eye witness account for us, since the original was taken down?

Discourse on this topic is "allowed"
Don’t get it twisted. The original posting simply wasn’t high enough quality to merit a FanPost on GSoM. The original creator of the FanPost was asked to move it to a FanPost>Chat. They did not. There’s not much else we can do.
Again x123 about 40% of the FanPosts submitted on GSoM are hidden because they aren’t high enough quality and the original poster is asked to move it to a FanShot where it belongs. This is not an issue of restricting discourse, but rather a way to ensure the FanPosts continue to be a venue for high quality work here. I am very proud of the community submissions that do stay up in the FanPosts section. There’s some great work there and it reflects the many great voices populating this diverse community.
Censorship does not happen on GSoM (unless it counters our goal for a family show for all— swearing, personal attacks, etc.). Quality control does. The folks whining about the results are usually 11 year olds posting “You sux!!!!!!!!!!! fIrE NELLLY!!!!!!!!!” or adults acting like they’re 11 who lower the quality of this community.
Nuck Chorris- Please don’t speculate about something you know nothing about. Thanks.
Here’s the original posting by Balance which they didn’t move to a FanShot:
Randolph in fight?
Has anyone else heard about Randolph getting in a fight in Walnut Creek at Spin on Tuesday night?
I heard from a good friend of mine who saw it go down that he was throwing blows and a bunch of dudes where really disrespecting him, saying he’s not “black” or something of the sort.
My question is what the hell is he doing at a bar anyways? He’s not 21 yet. I understand it to some extent. I’ve more than my fair share of fights but i never had the career or future to lose like he does.

Thanks!
All I ask is that you be aware that in the absence of knowledge our perceptions can be deceiving, and that we do not have your perspective.
I will try to give you the benefit of the doubt.

No problem at all. Makes sense. Stay up!

Congrats on this being the first one of these "Why are we getting censored?!?!?!" posts in the last 3 months
You must actually be getting through to people….
I still don’t understand how the “Please move this to the FanShot section” message isn’t immediately clear.
Big ups on getting the Fanshot part up and running going despite the many doubters (including yours truly).
We may disagree on some of the content, but you run a darn good blog.

You dont understand why Randolph was at a bar?
everyone thats over 18 drinks. lol
ya ya, I was asked to move my original post to a ‘fanshot’. I just didn’t know how to move it other than recreating the the post as a fan shot. Nothing was said about not being able to discuss the topic.
Don’t get me wrong, i have no problem with him drinking or going to a club but he’s a young kid and needs to be responsible. From what i heard it didn’t sound like he started the fight. He’ll learn quick that when your famous and successfull you find a ton of haters out there. Especially when your stealing all the attention. I just hope he’s smart enough to stay out of real trouble. So like i said, don’t get me wrong. I’ve had more than my fair share of fights and actually think a fighters mentality is good for competition in sports but man, he’s got a lot more to lose than i ever did.
Also, what’s with ya’ll? He’s not 21 so he shouldn’t be at Spin! Maybe Tuesdays are different but Spin is not normally an 18 and up club. I just don’t want to see him suppended for beign at a bar. Also, I don’t give @#$% if drinks. I started drinking at 16, but i’m not a professional athelete with a ton of potentail either.
Funny thing is I saw him at the gym today. I should’ve asked him about it but then again…..i don’t really care all that much. Although i was joking around with my buddy who’s also a big warrirors fan and we were contemplating wether or not we’d get involved if we saw the altercation go down. My buddy said he’d take a bullet for him as if he was the president. Of course sarcastic, hopefully you all can find the humor in that but we don’t need him blowing up an ankle in a street fight (btw heard it was in front of the club for what it’s worth) Mopedgate part 2? I think i’d have to get Randolphs back for the sake of my season tix. ha.

i dont really mind this news.
It just proves that Anthony Randolph doesnt back down. we need that toughness.
It will mess us up heading into the season, but we're used to it because there has to be...
drama every year before the season starts. It’s a tradition.
"IT'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!"
Honestly, if someone was disrespecting him the way people are reporting (saying he’s not “black enough”) I am proud that he took action. There is no reason for him to sit there and take that kind of racial abuse and the people dishing out the talk got what they deserved.
He is, indeed, a true warrior now. He has passed his initiation!
BTW, clubs aren’t all over 21. Also, everyone over 18 drinks. If you can go to war, you can drink!

There are other, more mature ways to deal with the issue
I understand that some people may disagree with me, but he should have not made it a “mano a mano” type thing. He should have just got them banned from the bar by talking to the owner instead of putting himself in such a dangerous/uncontrollable situation. Hopefully he’ll learn from this ugly occurance. Did they deserve to be punched in the face? Sure. But you never know who’s got a gun, you never know who’s got something to prove, you never know what’s going to happen once things get started, and Anthony had far, far more to lose than this idiot heckling him. He’s lucky he’s not being prosecuted for assault and sued or injured, or worse.
Some things are worth fighting back against, being racially attacked is certainly one of them, but there are better ways to go about it than punching a stranger in the face.

He is 20, and a professional athlete. FYI, most professional athletes come from backgrounds without much support from their family and lack of money. Thus, most professional athletes are in a bubble and very uneducated.
Either way, a racial attack on him is worthy of throwing down but I only give him slack on it once. He will reap the consequences and learn how to better handle it. If this continues and is a pattern, then it will be a problem. But right now, I personally do not see this as a problem at all.

This:

Sounds very, very different from:
a racial attack on him is worthy of throwing down but I only give him slack on it once. He will reap the consequences and learn how to better handle it.
I see this instance the same as you are promoting in the second post. I understand that he may be new to such a situation, and that sometimes you just have to learn from your mistakes (boy, do I know that one). But let’s not condone the action, you forgive and move on and expect people to learn from their mistakes.
Seriously, there should be a rookie workshop that goes over this stuff… I bet there is, but maybe they need to improve the seminar on “how to deal with a-hole fans.”

I think the NBA does a lot of rookie workshops and such on how to handle themselves (after all, David Stern is all about image control). Sometimes it just takes making an actual mistake to learn how to act properly/professionally though…

Totally agree. It’s one thing to be angered or offended. It’s quite another to get violent. I’m a fan of simply talking back… of course, that might get them violent, especially with my mouth. ha ha… Still, there are better ways of dealing with it than physically attacking them.
Welcome to the Pit of Despair! Don't even think about trying to escape.
"Some things are worth fighting back against, being racially attacked is certainly one of them, but there are better ways to go about it than punching a stranger in the face."
No, im pretty sure if i was in Ant’s shoes i would have punched him in the face too.
Just because you'd do something doesn't make it right or the best way to resolve the issue
It just means you’d punch a stranger in the face for shouting words at you. You’re not the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Did they deserve it? From accounts here (which are filtered through the Warriors and AR bias we’ve got here), it seems like they did. Did Anthony escalate it to a physical level? Yes, and people have been shot for less.
Standing up for yourself is one thing, but escalating a volatile situation is almost never a good idea.
Personal experience:
Some kids started harassing my friends and I, focusing on one of us in particular for no apparent reason. Later, somehow they thought I was him, tried to take my backpack, and eventually gave me a good right cross to the jaw. They then realized that I wasn’t the guy they were harassing and actually apologized (very weird…) and ran ahead to harass this guy again. Eventually they pulled out a knife and started threatening him with it. Another one of our friends saw us being harassed from across the street and literally sprinted over between the guy and his assailants, not knowing there was a knife out. Nobody ended up getting hurt, but what would have happened if I’d started throwing punches? Would I still be standing here? I may have been punked, but I didn’t get serious injured.
There’s a lot more to life than “standing up for yourself.” When you’re a professional athlete at some random bar and some random guys are heckling you, is it really worth the risk to punch one of them in the face not knowing who they are and whether they’re packing heat? I say no, you’ve got more important things to live for than punching some random stranger in the nose. You clearly have a different perspective.

Glad to hear AR didn’t get shot, killed, or had some career ending injury to some alterication with some piece of terd desperately needing attention or desperately trying to prove he is ghetto in the world of Walnut Creek, Ca.
To those pieces of terds starving for this type of attention:
“NOBODY CARES!”
As the great Gary Radnich would say.
Of all places, why a club in Walnut Creek? I know he lives in the area but I would rather chill at home, invites some bebots over and get faded with my folks than go to some whack club in “Dub C” lol.
If i were an NBA athlete whether I was known or not, I would be highly selective in what I did outside of the game.
I met AR and his cousin out in Vegas at a 21 n up spot. They were some cool, down to earth folks so I’m sure the story so far that AR and his folks didnt initiate it all was true.
Seeing him there at vegas though, got me kinda concerned that he’d be going out alot and hitting up alot of spots to where trouble could easily linger.
I know its easier said than done cuz he is young and wants to experience life before it really gets hectic for him, but I just wished AR partied on the low key and avoid high risk areas where he can run into trouble.
He has too much upside for success in the NBA that I wish he remained focus to being better than Lebron James.

LoL!
Realistically, all we can do is hope he LEARNS from his mistakes and makes wiser decisions in his life.
He needs to realize how valuable he is to the Warriors if he really cared about his career, and if he is starting to think he is invincible, someone needs to put him in check.
Obviously Monta’s past incident hasn’t affected AR at all.
