Bill Simmons and Chad Ford rip Dubs...
It is at about the 36 minute mark when they bring up bad stories in the NBA and how Don Nelson is shutting it down and how the incompetence of the FO is in question. They then go on to talk about how this type of bad ownership and leadership affects the entire league and talk a little about how ownership is granted.... What say you GSOM?
Personally I think it is great that The DUBS Fo is being put on blast on a national stage and hope this groundswell begins to make cohan want to sell. I mean Donald Sterling is a better owner than Cohan at this point and that is due in large part to luck on the team they have assembled.

Personally I think Simmons doesn't know what he's talking about when he talks about the Warriors
He didn’t know the first thing about the Anthony Randolph/Nellie situation
(Little more than halfway)
He’s funny and for the most part knows his ish, but… not in Warriors land. We’re too far away from where he grew up or something. Does our FO have problems? Yeah, sure. But take his word with a grain of salt, will ya?
You have been DFiBrillated.

I suppose the allure is just the turmoil in general.
It’s like watching youtube clips of disasters. You don’t really understand the whole story or context, but you are still drawn to watch what happens next.
That’s why were everyone’s second favorite team!
Chris Cohan and Robert Rowell? Oh no hide the children!
I enjoy Simmons
…but it’s hard to listen to a national commentator / writer rip our team. We can do it. We’re family.
Was it Ford who said he personally knew someone who wanted to buy the W’s? Are there really more than one or two out there? Step up, please!
The idea of Lebron going to the Clippers was interesting but showed the same pro-big market NBA bias that I find disgusting. When discussing where Lebron could end up, the only small market team mentioned was Oklahoma. Now THAT would be interesting. But imagine this fantasy. The W’s shed Maggette and Jackson for more expirings, Ellison buys the team and the new Warriors start a massive Lebron to the Bay movement.
Ellis/Curry/Watson
James/Ellis/Morrow
Azubuike/James
Randolph/Wright
Biedrins/Turiaf
Contenders for a decade. One can dream. That’s what we do best around here, sigh.

Those two would have great synergy

Simmons also said Rasual Butler was a great addition for the Clippers. Butler was semi-decent last year but he’s pretty much been horrible every other year of his career. He’s below average at pretty much everything. For a guy who claims he would be a great GM and is such a huge hoops fans Simmons seems to know shockingly little about basketball.

when i heard that i immediately thought of you and jae, listening in your respective homes and becoming enraged.

Ha, yea it actually made me think of jae and Sleepy for the exact same reason. Butler wasn’t really a guy I had ever paid any attention to until he suddenly became fantasy basketball relevant last season and I think jae and Sleepy were already driving the “Butler Sucks at Everything bandwagon” before I knew it existed. He really does suck pretty bad though. Simmons’s podcast is sort of a guilty pleasure for me. I used to think I liked the guy and really respected his writing style but everytime I listen I find myself thinking he’s kind of a douche who just wants to impress the B-list celebrities he has on and that he really doesn’t know nearly as much about any of the major sports as he thinks he does. But I can’t stop listening either, so I guess he’s doing something right.

oh man, how did i forget sleepy? he’s probably done more posting about how he sucks than anyone else. i’m embarrassed.
i’ll also admit to listening to simmons’ podcast pretty frequently. it’s hit and miss. i like his basketball stuff a lot, but when he misses, he misses big. i thought the talk about how terribly the wolves managed the rubio situation was really overblown. i don’t know, maybe i just have a better nba understanding than i did when i was first reading his stuff, but i think he’s been wrong more and more recently. though i did appreciate him defending david lee against bucher and stein after they both said that there’s no way lee could start on a championship team.
i don’t know, he presents his stuff in an interesting way and it’s better than a lot of stuff, but someone like chuck klosterman (who he’s had on a few times and klosterman came off as way more intelligent) does what simmons does, in a far better way and about more than just sports. still, i enjoy hearing the poor man’s CK talk about random sports notes.

Me too. Actually I think the fact that they started with about 10 minutes of T-Wolves management bashing kinda made me a little more skeptical of everything he said. The Rasual Butler comment was kind of a little throw away line but I was already kinda upset about all the stuff he’s said about the Wolves that I may have been looking for him to slip up again. It sure seems like Simmons is pretty bitter about his campaign for the Wolves GM job not working out. That seems pretty odd to me as I don’t think many people took that campaign as seriously as he seems to have, but maybe he really did have some reason to believe they were actually considering him.
