Apparently the Mavs are interested in getting rid of Josh Howard. Interesting...

We’re not the youngest team, yeah, but we have a pretty young core. Ellis, Randolph, Biedrins, Morrow and Curry aren’t exactly grandfathers.

John Smith

Hm. No credibility at all but that would be awesome.

This is Kristin Kreuk, now zip it. - GTTM

Sources

would be nice. Instead of just saying “my sources” he might actually enlighten us from where (I’m guessing out of thin air) he is getting his information. Until then, I’m going to assume that his sources are something like his 5 year old niece or something. After all, that’s a terrible deal for the Mavs.

Hahah

My sources tell me Lebron is also dissatisfied and can be had for Jackson and Maggette.

Do the damn thang!!

Cohan, hurry up and send Jackson and Maggs to Dallas. I would rather take Howard off Cuban’s hands. Let’s make the swap.

Dallas Mavericks
PG Kidd – Barea
SG Jackson – Terry
SF Marion – Maggette
PF Nowitzki – Gooden
C Dampier – Thomas

Goldenstate Warriors
PG Ellis – Curry
SG Azubuike – Morrow
SF Howard – George
PF Randolph – Wright
C Biedrins – Turiaf

We can do better for Jackson and Maggs.

Jackson probably won’t be traded for awhile anyway.

we could not do better for jack and maggs. what makes you think that those two overpriced swingmen were worth more than howard and cap room? the deal doesn’t make any sense because dallas can’t take on that much extra salaray, but to say that they are worth more than that is just misunderstanding how the NBA trade market works.

You know it’s the lean part of the year when we’re Fanshotting about rumors from Kawakami’s commenters…

If such a deal were possible, we should obviously jump to take it. I like Maggette, and think he gets a raw deal from many here, but we have plenty of what he brings to the table (efficient scoring, decent overall swingman play) and badly need what he lacks (defense, playmaking). He rebounds better than our other swings, and there’s value in that, but not nearly enough to justify his contract. Any dump would do.

It’d also be an encouraging signal from the front office. You want an organization that is willing to admit past mistakes… one of the best things about Mullin’s tenure was that he eventually forswore all those horrible contracts he signed. I wouldn’t call the Maggette signing an outright “mistake”, but with Morrow’s emergence and Azubuike’s improvement, it’s proven to be pointless at best. I’d hope Riley et al would be willing to acknowledge that by dumping the contract, rather than keeping the guy around to justify it, Sabean-style. (They did already dump Crawford, so there’s some hope on this front).

Frankly, I doubt we’d be able to move either Jack or Maggette for ‘10 expirings… I can’t imagine any other team being that reckless. We’d be well-served, though, to try to trade either for ’11 expirings. Teams don’t seem to be valuing those much, and they’ll be useful before long. Honestly, something like Maggette and one of our expirings for a guy like Peja would be a positive.
