Good god
I swear he was wearing shoes people wear to the beach last night. WHY would anyone wear those type of shoes after all those injuries on the hardwood against Shaq and crew?

Randolph's shoes bend easier than any other shoe i have seen.
Bellineli, Gallinari, and Radman are my heroes!!!
Monta PPG> Monta IQ
Lakers Fans= Terrible
Go C's
Giants need to sign Barry Bonds outta retirement.
Looks like he’s wearing actual tennis shoes with flat soles. Seems strange.

Agreed, this absolutely blows my mind
Bulky high tops are a must for big men. Sometimes even ankle braces (which are more effective than tape). Why wouldnt Randolph and Ronny wear ankle braces? The lateral speed sacrificed when braced is not a large factor.
Ronny was asking for it in those deck shoes…

Most ankle braces are certainly not as effective as tape. To get one better, you’d really have to get the hard/bulky/restrictive kind, and I can see why players would avoid that. A good tape job goes a long way…

They're Kobe IV's
Which despite being low tops, have superb ankle support.
Low top vs high top has nothing to do with ankle support.
Kobe isn’t an idiot, why would he wear shoes that would mess up his ankles?
They were inspired from soccer players, who wear low top cleats.
It isnt the shoes people….

read that if you dont believe me.
i know my shoes
High tops play a significant role in ankle injury deterrence. Youre crazy
Furthermore, I am sure that Nike’s engineering of Kobe IVs is incredible, but soccer players don’t need ankle support nearly as much, so that sounds like a poor model.

Shaq shooting?
Is it just me or do you guys see the picture and see Shaq actually SHOOTING the ball? I know he doesn’t shoot but just found that kind of funny
And check out the massive elevation on his jumper.

I used to play in Vans
at the gym until I came down right on the leg of a metal folding chair. But high tops wouldn’t have made a difference. In fact, I’ve probably had worse ankle-luck in high tops than in Vans.
Just bad luck...
I do agree that hightops may make a very slight difference but Ronnies ankles were already in bad shape so this just aggravated his previous injury. I also agree that all NBA players not just big men should wear ankle braces while playing. Just seems to make sense to have extra ankle support when your playing with 6-7ft. giants every night and jumping around on every play. But Im not a team doctor or trainer so what do i know…
God Willing...
I would bet most, and probably almost all, players get their ankles taped for games…

He could be wearing ankle braces underneath those socks
If that is the case, high top shoes wouldn’t be all that necessary.
high tops or not...
you can still sprain your ankle with any type of shoe. the severity of the sprain may be different but high tops do not prevent this type of injury.
