Game Thread #38: Golden State Warriors vs Brandon Jennings (and the Milwaukee Bucks)

Brandon Jennings v. The Warriors, part deux. The last time the Bucks and the Warriors met, the Bucks rookie point guard went for 55 points, and became the toast of the rookie class. Remember that? Since that day, Jennings has fallen back to earth, shooting only 36%. Wasn't that the rap on him before the draft?
Jennings is still shooting a high percentage from three, though, so I'm guessing Curry will have to chase him over the screens. Or maybe Monta will pick him up. The Bucks recently lost Michael Redd to a season-ending knee injury, and don't have any other scoring threats at the 2 or 3 positions. Unless you count Luke Ridnour.
Despite their struggles in the backcourt, the Bucks will be a difficult matchup for the injury-depleted Warriors. Turiaf, Radmanovich and Watson are all doubtful for this game. Which leaves the Warriors without a true power forward. The Bucks have a couple of young athletic power forwards who are really coming on, Ersan Ilyasova, from Turkey, and Hakim Warrick. Luc Mbah-Moute is also a very tough inside player.
The Warriors will be matching up at the four with Corey Maggette and Cartier Martin. This is, to put it mildly, cause for concern. Remember what the athletic Thaddeus Young of the Sixers did to the Warriors? I fear we could be in for a replay.
Biedrins will also have his hands full, going against Bogut and Thomas. Bogut is a favorite target of Jennings in the paint.
The Warriors are -3.5 home favorites. The Bucks, like the Heat, are on the fourth game of a West coast road trip. They lost the previous three, and are slipping in the standings. You can be sure they have circled this game, and will be bringing their A game. The Warriors find themselves once again undersized and shorthanded. They have responded well in these circumstances so far this season, but are wearing down. I would be tempted to pick the Bucks, if I weren't such a homer.

So much unpredictability. We don’t know if Turiaf, Radman, or CJ can play. At worst, we have no power forward, and no backup center. Small ball and d league ball to the end! It’s all we got.

So with an 8 man roster tonight: Monta, Curry, Morrow, Maggette, Biedrins, Hunter, George, Cartier
I presume that the starters will be Monta, Curry, ???, Maggette, Biedrins. Who will fill the 3? Morrow, or Cartier? I suppose this will depend on the matchup against the Bucks roster.

slipping in the standings
We have been second to last place in the West for quite a bit now. Lebron for Maggette and Speedy couldnt get us into the playoffs this season (seriously). The only reason the standings matter is for odds on ping pong balls in May.

Wow...
This is going to be a hard game.
How is it possible that this just happens to us? What the hell did we do to piss off the injury gods? We’re up to 8 now with guys injured and the word on Randolph was at least 2 months with torn ligaments. Its time we stop drafting small lanky guys and gets somebody with some meat on their bones. Maybe they won’t get injured.
As always, I will be sitting there, on my couch, drinking, hoping its making the game better.

Man I thought the Bucks were having a rough year but atleast they are headed in the right direction unlike you guys. Maybe you should trade Branden Wright and Anthony Randolph for some more shoot first wing players. Can never have enough of those.
And what is the deal with Wright not playing? That guy is going to be a stud… apparantly just not in Golden State.
Well, we were headed in a better direction once Stephen Jackson got traded
Monta fell into place as our leader and has embraced the role, and the other players fell into line once the cloud and questions marks were removed. Our guys are playing hard, they are playing together, they are looking for each other, they are trying to play together.

Bucks aren't a shooting team
The only one you worry about is out for the year and that is Michael Redd. Jennings can shoot the three for a solid percentage, making him take longer jumpers though and he bricks them left and right.
Monta seriously needs some all star recognition
The coaches need to think about what our record would be without him.
