Postgame Quotes from warriors.com recap

Don Nelson
On Tonight's Game:
"We lost the game because we didn’t rebound. Possession after possession we got a stop but our lack of rebounding gave them extra chances. They had two guys who had at least 12 rebounds and we had one. I thought we did a really good job on Carmelo (Anthony)."
Monta Ellis
On Playing A Lot Of Minutes:
"I feel great, feel good. Great game… left it all on the court. Wish we could have gotten the win."

On Chauncey Billups:
"He was real tough, hit a lot of big shots tonight. Pretty much Carmelo (Anthony) wasn’t going so he pretty much took the game over and made plays for his team, made plays for himself and they got the win."
Stephen Curry
On Tonight's Game:
"We played a hard fought game the whole 53 minutes. That was a big shot by J.R. Smith in OT. We probably had a chance to get a stop and a rebound and go to the free throw line and seal the game and he made that big shot. I thought we played pretty well the whole game and really put ourselves in a position to win and just couldn’t get that one stop down the stretch."

On Losing In Overtime:
"It’s tough, you give all that effort, you play that hard the whole game and you have it in your hands and you want to walk away with that win, at home, especially. It’s tough for us, but we have a back-to-back Friday and Saturday, so we have a chance to continue the momentum we have and try and get two wins."

To clarify...Monta said the soreness in his ankle 2day was nothing serious, just something that happens when it rains b/c of the metal plate

- No interesting notes to add tonight.

What's next?

- The final game of the homestand also kicks off a home/road back-to-back. Friday vs Nets, Saturday @Suns.
- The Don Nelson show with Ralph and Tom on KNBR should air tomorrow (Thursday). I think Nellie will be more open to talk about tonight's game then.
- Also tomorrow, another edition of the Warriors Weekly Radio Show on KNBR 680 at 9:00pm. mp3s will be available on the radio show's web page

Monta Ellis this year is equivalent to Kevin Durant last year.

1st year leader putting up great stats, unable to win on a young team, bad +/-

Lots of similarities. Maybe even all star snub.

Rookie: "Why did you bench me?"
Nellie: "You're a rookie"

Probably not. OKC has a bunch of defensive specialists to go along with Durant/Green/Westbrook.

Either to the 3 D-leaguers or to Monta Ellis for getting the dollar! That is nice to see.

Voted Ellis for the doller.

I was tempted to vote “Everybody pitched in” I thought no one really had an amazing night, and no one had a terrible night. However, seeing as George actually showed some signs of life, which completely surprised me, he was my man last night.

So let me get this straight... Maggette is the healthy guy.

Way too many late whistles in this game. I don’t understand how or why it is justifiable to wait for a play to be over before deciding whether to call the foul or not. Nene clearly grabbed Monta on the inbound pass and hampered his ability to get to the ball. If the ball had gone out of bounds, you would hope that they would have given it to the Warriors. But would that have been the correct call? They should have gotten two shots and had no time run off the clock, setting up a legitmate 2 for 1 situation (rather than the 2 seconds they ended up with). Over and over again last night, the referees interjected themselves into the game by making “judgment calls.” If a foul is a foul, it should be called as one. If it isn’t, let them play!

Also, the Devean George sighting was kinda cool. Now, he is not a good player, but you can’t possibly deny that he still has some kind of veteran voodoo that he can exert on guys like Carmelo (and the refs, in all fairness), to get things to go his way. It may be “intangible” and probably cannot be quantified on a stat sheet, but he had an undeniable effect on the game last night.

He should be feeling something then cause the pressure is down to 28.86 today.

Lights please, lights please, turn off the lights.
