Nice. Good to see someone calling Hollinger out like that.

Big ups to Monta. He is just a straight up stud and a true "Warriors".
He said it best…and I hope he rides his words til he dies:
“I’m a Warriors. And I’ll always be a Warriors.”
Couldn’t be more proud of him than ever. I’ve supported him from the very first day I needed to check him out when Rick Barry was still on KNBR during the day he got drafted and said something among the lines that Monta Ellis has been reported to be a steal of this draft who will be something special. He also mentioned Eric Dampier had high praise on him since they went to the same high school.
I know there are a lot of Dampier haters out there, (im not) but when I heard this, I was very curious on checking out “this Ellis” kid.
Ever since then I loved his game and rooted for him early on in his career and DEMANDED as a Warrior fan that Monta Ellis get playing time. He was just too much of a special talent to be sitting on the bench.
He helped lead the Warriors to get us to the 2007 Playoffs when JRich and Baron were nursing injuries and later was disrespected by the great Don Nelson with the so called tough love. Eh, whatever. Thats a bunch of crap to me. I felt he should have been rewarded with more playing time especially in crunch time during the playoffs because he was one of the MAIN REASONS why the WARRIORS got to the playoffs.
Don Nelson even wanted to trade him for the rights to draft Acie Law. Geez that woulda pissed me off big time.
Whatever. I’m over that crap now. I’m just glad that he is on Nellie’s side for the meantime. (who knows what will happen in the future drama of the Warriors.) I just hope all the “LETS TRADE MONTA FOR…..” just ends.
I am still an avid believer in making Monta and Biedrins one of the two cores of this franchise and making them the core until they retire. Work around them and we will cause wreck in this league for many years to come.
Monta has just improved tremendously on his game especially on defense. I was just waiting patiently for the day when he would become one of the top 5 players in steals. So far he is number TWO in the league. Hope he becomes number ONE by the end of this season. He also improved with his 3PT shot making him even more deadly on the court.
All I got to say is this. I could give a Rats Arse about this punk Hollinger’s opinion. I weighed more heavily on Lebron’s and Kobe’s high praise for the kid because I think their opinions of Monta is vastly more important. They are the ones who have to keep a special eye on him and have to compete with him on the actual basketball court in an actual real NBA game. If these two greats of the NBA today appreciates Monta Ellis’ game, then I could honestly give a rats arse if he gets snubbed from the All Star game.
As a lot of Warrior fans said, it be shame if Monta Ellis doesn’t even make the All Stars as a backup.
To me, what is more important is him staying healthy and playing every game consistently because the actual Warrior game that I attend and watch on TV is a gazillion more times more significant to me than him representing the Bay Area on a world wide NBA All Star game.
I’ve enjoyed every second that Monta plays…and I still appreciate it a gazillion times when he appreciates the die hard Warrior fans back.
“We love our fans to daith.” -Monta Effing Ellis.

Now that’s what I’m talking about…………..A real true Warriors Fan who’s living in the present & not the past. THANKS ROMESdavidWOODS37. Monta Ellis is giving it his all to help his team win. His play has gotten better each & every game. Assist are UP & turnovers are DOWN. If he makes the ALLSTAR team kool; if he doesn’t it will just make him work that much harder over the summer. However he (Monta) said: “Making the ALLSTAR team would be a blessing; but Winning games would be ever better.” To have players the likes of Bryant & James even SHAQ comment on his game lets u know that this young man can & will be something special. Monta’s game has even started to catch the eyes of coaches around the league. If u saw the pre-game on Wednesday George Karl said try’n 2 stop Ellis/Magg’s/Curry is key 2 beat’n the Warriors, those three can give u 90 pts between them; they came close with 88. Doc Rivers said Monta is getting 2 the point where he’s should be on everyones rader. @ this point Monta still needs help…………………… If we had others to play like him & Corey; we’d really be doing something. U can’t win games with nine of your regulars in suits looking better than the coaches & three D-leaguers as reserves. So let’s just ride this out & hope for the best the rest of the way. I do see them winning more than 12 games in the second half of the season. So 2 ALL DA HATERS; don’t jump back on the wagon when things turn around.

Thanks for the compliment Ms. Dee.
I remember you posted a comment awhile back when you mentioned Raja Bell’s return and how it will truly turn things around. You also mentioned how he will be a major influence to provide this team with a power boost in sneaking into the playoffs. Although this seems more likely not to happen, I am still very curious on how this team will react to it and play when and if Raja Bell returns in March or so. Hopefully Anthony Randolph will be back during that time as well.
Even if the season is concretely over in March or even if it goes sour, I will be very excited to see this team play together with Raja. I feel like it will be a very very exciting team to watch. I really hope he reconsiders staying with the Warriors and I hope the Warriors are really considering in keeping him somehow. His veteran leadership could be the missing Major Part to our young Warriors team.
I will continue to enjoy and watch the Warriors now, but now I can’t wait for March to come by if Raja and AR returns by then.
Well, Go Warriors still.

Nice piece
I wrote one on the same basic topic for RealGM: http://realgm.com/src_feature_pieces/858/20100121/_context_in_statistics_(monta_ellis_edition)/

the whole +/- argument against Monta is so stupid
He’s only out of the game during garbage time. Any numbers that come from that portion of the game can’t be taken seriously.

I want Monta to be on the all star team but...
I also want him to get some rest so he is less likely to get injured in the second half of the season when we get some of our guys back and see what we really have here. Tough call.
Besides, the all star game is a joke and waste of time and we all know it – why do we care if he’s in it? He’d only get a few minutes in the game anyway.
I’d rather him not get picked, be upset about it, and take it out on the league next year when we have a healthier team and a better record.

It’s GREAT PR for Warriors. Why do people want to go to Miami? (Aside from south beach…) To play with Dwayne Wade. but if you honestly look at Miami, there team is worse than warriors (if you subtract wade and monta). However Wade has the image of a superstar which is enhanced from all star games.
If Monta makes it, he’ll shine and all of a sudden perhaps a guy like Bosh (pipe dream) see Monta not just as a good player but 1 of “the guys” you wanna team with.

Players know he is good
Shaq said he’s a top 7 player(guards) and Kobe said he’s one of the best guards there is. It’s the casual fans that don’t know anything.
Rookie: "Why did you bench me?"
Nellie: "You're a rookie"

Personally, I’m a big fan of the +/- statistic. I’m not sure why Monta’s isn’t good, but the reality is, it’s not. It’s worse than the rest of the team, as Hollinger points out. I think he needs to tweek his game a bit or maybe he’s just being overworked. Hope he and the coaches figure out how to turn his skills into victories, because I think he can be a big winner. But he currently is not.
Welcome to the Pit of Despair! Don't even think about trying to escape.
