Ric Bucher with the first ray of hope I've heard concerning the Warriors in a long time. While I'd rather not see the roster fully gutted, it would be a small price to pay if it meant Cohan was leaving.

This varifies the Ray Allen rumors

Cohan is so selfish

Rookie: "Why did you bench me?"
Nellie: "You're a rookie"

anyone notice

the tweet before it that mentioned how Amar’e doesn’t play D? Please don’t go there, either, Warriors.

Yeah

don’t just deal any to save money. Just sell the team already Cohan, you have done enough to us loyal Warrior fans

If getting rid of Beans, Maggette, and Monta for expiring contracts comes with a guarantee that Cohan will sell the team this offseason, then I’m all for it.

Yeah, the selling angle is giving me lots of conflicting feelings about trading everyone for expiring contracts. Is it worth it to become the Nets next year if it means no more Cohan? I don’t know what to think.

I think its worth it.

I would be with you with Maggette and Beans, but No Way

No, how, should Ellis be gotten rid of. That’s absolutely ridiculous to even say.

by Rocky63215 on Jan 26, 2010 10:45 PM PST up reply actions

So you prefer more-than-likely years of failure under Cohan with Ellis here than having a 50-50 shot at success?

by samuraaaaiiiiiii on Jan 26, 2010 11:15 PM PST up reply actions

Agreed. If the choice is Ellis and Cohan or no Ellis and no Cohan, I’ll take the latter every time. Monta is good, but he’s not exactly LeBron.

But what do we do after that?

Start over, but with a competent front office. I like the odds of a smart ownership team and FO building a winner from scratch than Chris Cohan and Robert Rowell building a winner with Monta Ellis.

GASP

Cohan just selling the team and putting us out of our misery!!! I think not….he must do one last thing to make us suffer before that happens.

MEMPHIS

This is what happened with Memphis and the Pau Gasol highway robbery the Lakers committed. Team up for sale, Gasol sold for cheap rookie and expiring contract.

If this is true it is TRULY messed up. Healthy this is a playoff team with young talent. I guess they’ll build around Curry, Randolph, Morrow and the D-Leaguers.

by joegiant on Jan 26, 2010 6:53 PM PST reply actions

This is not a playoff team healthy. Playoff teams play defense, rebound, and can run their offense through more than two players. What is wrong with you?

by BayLife5518 on Jan 26, 2010 8:23 PM PST up reply actions

Healthy, this team can rebound. Andris, Randolph, Maggs and Curry all rebound their positions very well. That’s four of the five starters. Not too bad.

Most playoff teams do not run their offense through more than two guys. They have capable players on both ends of the floor at more than two positions, but you won’t see the Lakers letting Andrew Bynum set up the offense for them. For the most part, teams let one guy initiate the offense and everyone else plays their part. The Warriors have enough offensive talent to do that. The point guard situation still needs work, but there’s no reason to think this team can’t be decent on that side of the ball.

As for defense, the Warriors aren’t the best defensive team, far from it, but they aren’t atrocious when everyone is playing at their bests. Andris, Monta, Maggs, Wright, Buike, Turiaf and Randolph are all capable defenders and Curry is making progress with that. I’m not saying this team is a surefire playoff team when healthy, but they’re probably not that far off.

I'm with you . . .

. . . the guys are really playing to win. Now if only we can fix that rebound deficiency . . .

by insanenthemembrane on Jan 26, 2010 11:16 PM PST up reply actions

If trades are made to save $$ but Cohan DOESN'T sell?

AB1 goes on a murderous rampage? Maybe not, but the front page posts for the rest of the season will be scathing and merciless. And Kawakami? His “I told ya so”s will be frequent and unbearable. Ugh.

by ivanbe on Jan 26, 2010 11:57 PM PST reply actions

i'm down for getting rid of Beans and Maggette-O's

BUT NOT MONTA!!!!
Last night’s game was horrible! No penetration and no scoring for the first three quarters of the game.
We really missed Monta last night.
And to think of the rest of the season without Monta…. I might have to stop watching the games….. =T

by HireMeAsGM on Jan 27, 2010 8:37 AM PST reply actions

Com on now, that’s not what hurt us, it was people jacking up shots, we shot ourselves off the court, to many people taking the first shot and not allowing the ball to move around, a couple of those shots go in and we win the game…

We could of won without Monta easily….I can’t even count how man assists Curry would of had if these guys were hitting the wide open shots…

by Cryptic on Jan 27, 2010 1:40 PM PST reply actions

Yeah, losing a game by 3 when Maggette shoots like that? We should be really happy with how close we kept it and how hard the team fought. It was an ugly loss, but you had to like that they didn’t roll over. There’s no quit in that bunch.
