The past few games the Warriors had been playing well. Then 2nd quarter in Portland came and all of that goodness went away. The 2nd-4th quarter in Portland were awful. They were so bad that I fell asleep midway through the 4th after closing my eyes from the madness. Good thing I wasn't at the game. I snore like no other when I sleep. Imagine hearing snoring on the broadcast.
Anyways, tonight in Denver may not be any more entertaining than those last 3 quarters in Portland. It could be rough going up against a tough Denver squad even without their two best guys, Melo (day to day) and Billups (questionable). Who's going to handle (Sha) Nene?!

George Karl said a couple hours ago that he’s probably not going to play. And Chauncey is definitely out. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m pumped for this game. I think we can win in Denver.

What do you guys think of Arron Afflalo?
I liked his game back when he was playing for UCLA. Back then, I thought he and Brandon Roy had a similar type of game. Of course B-Roy exploded into a stud and I think Afflalo could still turn out to be really good if given the opportunity.
I’m actually kinda scared of him tonight with both Melo and Billups out. This could be his opportunity to drop a quadruple double on us with 10 blocks and 10 rebounds included in those stats. I think he could do a good job guarding Monta tonight.
What do you guys think?

I was thinking about Morrow's shooting slump
and how he’s hesitating on his shots lately. I think he’s trying to integrate more options into his offense than just catch and shoot. That’s led him to have to think about his options when he catches the ball. That’s causing his hesitation. i think once he gets comfortable with his options, he’ll get better and knowing when to fire and when to do something else.
I think he's been yelled at for hesitating.

He seems like a good guy, but lets look at him.
He has shot the ball horrible this year as a labeled “shooter”
He does not play physical defense.

We all know he has talent. His main difficulty and holdback is himself. He has a poor mental game and many times play outta control. When he is composed and play the game aggressively and under control, I think he is one of the best power forwards in basketball.

Yesterday I did a Nuggests vs Warrior game on
NBA 2K10. Warriors was up by 1 and JR Smith took a wide open 23 footer and missed. AR missed the rebound and Kenyon Martin grabbed the rebound and scores putting the Nuggets up by 1 with .8 second. Morrow misses the game winning 3 and Dubs lose.

Once you call a foul in the NBA you can’t say it no longer exists. It’s not like the NFL where a ref can say “there was no foul on the play”. They just sorta had to invent a time or POSSIBLY call it over. But that’s a whole slew of problems because the Nuggets will complain.

Ever since Donaghy I have been taking the NBA less seriously, and this basically proves it. Not only was that a terrible call, but what about all those calls before that shrunk the lead from 7 to 1? I’m tired of this shit, why root for the team.

After watching the Warriors vs Nuggets (january 5,2010) I think the NBA needs to get serious about refs rigging games. Clearly late in the game after Corey Maggette grabbed a loose ball and the whole bench and him were calling timeout and he had to get into a jump ball situation. From there the tip went to halfcourt and before Denver had possession they were awarded the timeout and on the next shot JR Smith was not touched and a call that is never called ( a shot at half court) was called and there was litteraly no contact and was awarded 3 free throws. As a fan of the NBA the officiating is unacceptable and not even giving an investigation of the refs is also unacceptable.A certain ref mentioned that he knows which refs were biased and won 75% of his bets on what he knows about the refs. If the NBA cares about the sanity of the fans , players teams and integrity of the game they should take action. Me and everyone else who has seen this game and officiating over the past decade knows there is something wrong with these refs. It’s not even a judgment call but the right calls that are being missed that anyone can call but the refs. How does that work? Please take messages like these into account and not just write them off as an angry fan and take these into account. Something has to be done about this issue that every season is getting worse.

I thought we were going to get whistled for the travel, but none was called and I was ecstatic that we got the go ahead bucket.
Also when Nene got the rebound, looks like he got fouled too.

Y’all, seriously: this is loser talk. Monta was an idiot and ran way too close to a wild shooter; a bad call went against us. I’ve seen dozens of calls worse than this one.
Rioting and complaining to the league office just tells the Warriors that you’re satisfied with how they performed tonight. And you shouldn’t be! We played a team that was missing its best player, its second-best player and its fifth-best player, and saw its fourth-best player go down with an injury in the fourth, and we let them hang with us till the very end. That’s friggin’ pathetic. Our guys got outplayed, our coach got outcoached.
This is not about some conspiracy or SPEAKING TRUTH TO POWER; this is just some bad luck befalling a bad team that put itself in a bad position. This isn’t going to cost us a playoff spot; this is just another self-inflicted embarrassment. Settle down.

I want to see this team get better. The best way I can make that happen AS A FAN is to consistently call out their mistakes. Getting mad about a garden-variety bad call distracts from that. What kind of fight is this, exactly? The game is over… it was not a mechanical malfunction that the NBA will use as grounds for an overturn. The footage is ambiguous enough so that the call will stand; I doubt they’ll even review it.
There’s no fight. There’s just a loss. I’m not going to get worked up over the last two seconds that weren’t our fault, when the first 2,878 were.

There’s not a single ref trying to make the warriors lose. But, if Donaghy’s correct (and he’s obviously not the most credible source), there may be many trying to make the nuggets win
For players who spend 10 hours a day practicing, working, traveling, studying, etc., it is blasphemy that such a beautiful game should be at all decided by someone other than the 10 men on the floor.

If I leave my car unlocked in the city, it does not give someone the right to open it and steal my valued goods inside of it. Sure, if someone steals my wallet from my unlocked car I should beat myself up for not locking my car, but does that make the thief’s actions justifiable? Absolutely not.
Yes, more important than the refs is that we didn’t play well enough to beat a depleted denver team. Yes, more important than even that is our inability to win games in general. However, the referees’ actions were still pathetic, and a disgrace to the game.
Just as JR Smith should not be bailed out because he was taking a bad shot, the refs should not be bailed out merely because the warriors suck.
The idea that the refs “stole” this game, as opposed to making a bad call, seems pretty unsupported to me. If they were intent on costing us the win, they would’ve done it on the previous play, when we actually traveled. It was a bad call and it annoyed me, but I see no reason, whatsoever, to think there’s some larger scheme here. Refs just suck sometimes.

i’m not saying there’s a larger scheme here, though it can never be ruled out after Donaghy.
but it is something that was more than just a bad call, in my opinion. Calling that a foul earlier in the game would’ve been a bad call, but given the timing, some ref had his head screwed on backward. There is no excuse for making a controversial call in the waning seconds of a close basketball game, and all the refs should know this.
Now, I do agree that we must get over this and move on to issues that we can actually work on.

Monta should not have gotten near JR Smith. Nice try on Monta for swiping at the ball, but he shouldn’t have risked it. That doesn’t excuse the refs for calling a foul where none existed, or not giving the Warriors a timeout when Maggette had possession.

but it was too high risk when Smith was that far out from the 3 pt line. If he was closer, then the swipe block would have been a better risk.
Btw, the most that Monta should have done was maybe put his arms up,
or jump up and flail his arms to distract Smith, but not get near him. Because Smith could have done the Kobe thing and flail and actually draw contact. That’s why Monta should not have risked it that far out.

Exactly. A bad call, for sure, but Monta put himself in a very risky position. Smith was way far out, caught it awkwardly and wasn’t angled properly. You’ve got to re-orient yourself and sail clearly away from him there. You can’t bank on the refs always calling that one right.

didnt get to see the game but seems like Curry was awesome, maggette has been playing out of his mind, and monta got his…tough lose but we’ll get one back tomorrow

Maggette not getting the timeout was just as bad. And then the refs gave the Nuggets their timeout almost before Smith even had possession. Such garbage.

It was a good block, but it wasn’t worth it. Watch the play again — what are the odds that Smith was going to be able to make it? Given the impossible shooting position he was in, why risk a bad foul call by making a play for the ball?
Monta’s play was good defense. But from a strategic standpoint, it was stupid defense. The higher-percentage play was to clear him and let him miss, and give the refs no incentive to make a mistake.

The result was a block. But it could have just as easily been a Kobe-like arm flailing foul. You do not give the shooter ANY CHANCE at that call, when he’s that far out.

you can make the case that Monta sort of undercuts Smith's body while he was in mid-air
but watching the replay from the same angle as the pic I posted, the ref appear to make the foul call on the blocked shot, not the body undercut contact that occurs a moment after the block.
Still, it comes back to Monta risking a flailing arm or body contact foul that far out.

Everyone goes crazy because the call is made.
No one gets upset if it’s not made.
