Don Nelson
On Tonight's Game:
"I can’t say too much about the game, I am very upset. Obviously, too many things went wrong at the end of the game as far as I was concerned. I thought we played our hearts out and can’t ask any more than what my team gave me. Too bad it had to end like that. Anytime you lose it is hard. When you loss at the buzzer it is tough. That team deserved to win a game. Bad teams just don’t get breaks, let’s face it. You just don’t get breaks. That was our game. Anyway, that is all I got to say."
Monta Ellis
On Tonight's Game:
"It’s real tough. We played hard to get back in for a chance to win. We did everything coach asked us to. We made a mistake, but we made it back up on the defensive end. We got shots that we needed. We left it all out on the court tonight. It was a tough one, but the good thing is there is another tomorrow. We can put things behind us and move on."
Stephen Curry
On Tonight's Game:
"I felt like we were in control once Monta got that basket. All we needed was one stop, one rebound. We were supposed to get both of those right back to back. Unfortunately we didn’t get the timeout called when Corey had the ball, a misfortune for us down the stretch. This one hurts a little bit."
On His Three-Point Shooting:
"I have never done that before. It’s great, but nobody is going to look at that when the box comes in and we lost by one. I mean it is great for me, but my team needed this win to kick start us back in the right direction."

ellis
still needs to stop shooting 30 times a game if we want to win
I don't mind the 30 shots
after all he was 14/29 which is better than 50%, acceptable. His jumper wasn’t there in the first half, but i don’t blame him for taking it. he’s been hitting at the best clip all season the past 2 weeks.
what i DO blame him for is getting within 5 feet of a guy 40 feet from the basket - and then smiling afterwards.
14/29 is just under 50%, actually
but it’s still 48%, which is still very good for that volume.
And stop harping on that- most players that have been around for a couple years try to get past the heinous losses like this.
I bet most of the players on the team couldn’t even tell you what team they played a week ago.

imagine
curry stat line was 14/29 and ellis was 10/13… you would all be yelling that curry has no biusness shooting that much when ellis is 10/13 or in general. even if his play is amazing at times.. you should not be doing that when it is obvious your team mate is having a better night shooting the ball regardless who is playing.
I don’t know how Curry would have gotten all those shots. It’s not like he can drive to the basket at will like Monta.

And are you really harping
on 48% shooting?
48% shooting is elite for a team’s number one option.

Actually, if you look at TS%, Monta’s was at 52% for the game, which is below average (Curry’s TS% was a ridiculous 100%, Maggette’s was also ridiculously high at 82.2%).
You’d probably be surprised to learn that Monta is only better than Ronny Turiaf, Chris Hunter, Stephen Jackson (during his 9 game dubs stint) & Vlad in terms of PPS (points per shot).

nope
You got that ass backwards, dude. Ellis was 14/29 and Curry went 10/13 including 6/6 from 3 pt range.
er...read it again...
He said ‘imagine’ therefore he is asking what the reaction would be IF the scores were reversed.. you may now officially wear the donkey ears….

Over and back
after the tip, the nugget ran across mid court - could that have been over and back before time was called?
If I saw the replay right, your guy
beat Afflalo on the tip, so it’s not a backcourt violation if the ball is hit in the backcourt by the defending team.
Just when u thought 2010 was looking like a better year...
LOL. All I can think about now is that time when Shaq cursed on live TV. Do y’all remember that one?
“David Stern is wondering why the league is losing money, that’s why. People pay good money to come watch these athletes play and they try to take over the f*cking game!”
What ticks me off is these jerks are really trying 2 feed us this crap about not wanting the refs 2 decide the end of games. I’m personally upset with Don Nelson, though. When they said they’d put 0.1 seconds on the clock I’d have walked right in front of the officials and told my squad 2 get off the court immediately, because basketball wasn’t being played here tonight. Hearing everyone talking all politically correct about the situation afterwards was just the icing on one of the most disgusting pieces of sh*t I’ve ever had the displeasure of tasting.
P.S. LMAO, and why did I go 2 SportsCenter 2 see what they had 2 say about the game only 2 find the NBA doing SERIOUS damage control by stating that Monta fouled J.R. Smith and ending the clip super fast? What a joke of a league we’re in!
+1
There is no reports of a robbery non so ever. It has become disgusting, and the fact that i wake up (I’m from Europe) in 4 in the morning and then watch more then 2 hours just to see my team got robbed. WOW AMAZING NBA just amazing. David Stern can be proud of this double standard league, where they gave them the win just because they are fighting for a playoff position and were depleted for two players(like we weren’t). So what’s the point they can just say “look the Nuggets really need this one so just forfeit it and spare the best fans in the league of mind blowing calls”. What I would like to see now is Warriors team not even coming to the court when we play on road. Just stand/sit on your half and let them have shooting practice while listening to all the booos from the crowd. After all where is the point in trying to do your best when you know they will screw you in the end.
funny thing
NBA’s own NBATV said it was not a foul
So I don't have a signature well these words would do! Who knew that upgrades can have downgrades too!

I'm trying to recall a game
that the Warriors won in the final seconds because of a bad call by a ref. I know there have been some … right?
at the end of the day...
This team has its problems, no doubt. But it also has some real talent. Stay positive. Curry and Ellis can carry this team for many years. If they let those two guards play together for a few years, something good can happen.
That's what they want(Stern)
“Just be positive”, “You have great young talented team”, “Work harder”,… BLA BLA BLA
So they can go on and fix games to suit theTV rankings alias $$$$$$$
Something must be done and fast because what message is sent to this young players? Try harder? Why? So you can get screwed and act like nothing has happened? Nice just nice!

The right for a team to request a video replay....
How long must we wait before the NBA finally concedes that a team has the right in critical moments to request a video replay. It is now becoming the norm in other sports for a team to be allowed ‘x’ number of replay requests, say 3 for arguments sake…
A simple replay of that play would have shown the refs that no contact was made and therefore the Warriors rightly won the game…
YET AGAIN….the refing is brought into question and yet again…GSW seems to come up on the smelly end of the stick…..
Truly disgraceful and possibly the worst decision of the year so far…
"Better a Has-been than a Never-was. But better a Never-was than a Never-tried-to-be"
A replay wouldn't have helped GS...
…because there was a hip check.
The problem is not that there was not a foul, the problem is that it’s somehow acceptable for fouls not to be called at the end of the game short of a slaughter, and that 8 or 9 times out of 10 that hip check on JR Smith is not called in the NBA on a game winning shot (0 times out 10 it’s not called against Kobe, though).
I remember Tim Donaghue saying that his calls were always justified and within the rules. If Tim Donaghue was reffing and had money on Denver, he can justify that call.
Replay use for end of the game fouls will result in more free throws at the end of a game, not fewer — not that that is a bad thing because I have a problem with selective enforcement of rules just because it’s a game winning/tying shot.
if you watch the replay and focus on the ref in slowmo
he already raised his hand and called the foul when monta swiped at the ball. and obviously he got all ball. so the ref can’t argue the call was a hip check or body contact
Maybe he was signalling a 3 point attempt
before whistling the foul.
I’ll go back to my original point, though. GS fans can be pissed because that kind of body contact foul is something that is usually not called in that situation, and that the “unwritten rules” of NBA refereeing (make up calls, don’t foul out a superstar, turn the other cheek on travelling because it diminishes the athleticism of players around the basket, and the Lakers must win at all costs) is one of the biggest problems.
One other thing about that photo
that shows what’s right about the NBA… the NBA has the best athletes in the world.
if there was a hip check
it was an OFFENSIVE FOUL. watch again…JR is flailing tryin to initiate a call

Was very angry last night, slept on it. It's a new day but I"M STILL ANGRY!!!!
Thank you Greg Papa for telling Steinmetz the way it is
fine the refs?
I mean some one has to be reviewing the calls being made right? reviewing all the calls and auditing them. if the ref makes a bad call maybe it cant change the game but maybe he gets a fine or a slap on the wrist of sorts to discourage bad calls like last night. Who is policing the the police kind of thing…
wait so why couldn’t the refs go back on their decision after they knew they were wrong? If that’s a rule, they need to change that because that’s a b.s. rule
by Morrow is wet!!! on Jan 6, 2010 8:19 AM PST reply actions
The ref's can change the call
They can conference on the court and discuss whether or not it was a good call based on what they all saw. They dont have to do that though, it is up to the lead ref.
Also the refs are policed, but everything is done behind the scenes and without publicity unless it is something really big. The league does not want to give anyone a chance to criticise their refs. In the post Donaghue world it seems to make more sense to discuss bad calls publicly, but Stern will never change that.
Monta just has to learn to lay off on D in that situation. If the player makes a shot like that then he deserves the win. That would be one in a million
Are you crazy?!? You should never lay off on D.
In Puerto Rico they have a shot (don’t ask me how far it is) but it is similar to where J.R. shot from and it counts four points.
Haven’t posted here since about mid November… but i’m back, look, i totally agreed with Barnett during the game, noone should’ve been anywhere near him on that play, does anyone expect JR Smith to make a 40+ foot shot? really?
Furthermore, they let em play during the last minute, plus the officials were TERRIBLE during the last minute on both ends. Should the warriors have won? it’s all shoulda coulda woulda… But as we’ve learned in the NBA, never put the game in the refs hands, it’s crazy
JR
smith is known for long crazy 3 point shots.
So I don't have a signature well these words would do! Who knew that upgrades can have downgrades too!
by 24k state fan since 87 on Jan 6, 2010 11:45 AM PST up reply actions
Situation shouldn't have arisen.
If ellis had shot 10 less shots and curry and magette shot 5 more each, warriors probably would have won. I know, what if’s are kinda stupid but its easy to blame the refs because thats what we all saw and it was the most obvious thing but if you didn’t watch the game and you just looked at the box you would definitely see that Monta shot 14/32 which would have been a good game if curry hadn’t gone 16/19. Warriors will never get favored by the refs because they aren’t a contender, which is sad because they have all the talent to contend they just need to dig into their potential.
It's not the Nugget's fault, it's the ref's
The ref’s gave this game to Denver. There’s no two ways about it.
I have some words for the refs officiating that game:
(1) Go wedge a basketball in that place where the sun don’t shine
(2) I hope you get food poisoning on your next red-eye flight and the bathroom is broken
(3) Oops, gotta go, your wife is calling me back to the bedroom
Hip check and JR
If this was truly a foul why was JR halfway to the locker room when they called the foul. We all know that if it was really a foul he would have been in someone’s face telling them about it, right?! After he missed the game winning shot a while back he certainly did not want that to happen again, he would have been complaining LOUDLY not running to the locker room.
