Therapy

It's unbelievable that I have to dip into my therapy stuff after this loss. So here's a quickie trivia question: What's Anthony Morrow's favorite trademarked morning tweet?

I'm lost to why Vladi is getting such a large share of minutes.

Even in the preseason, it doesn’t make much sense to play him 20 minutes. We shouldn’t expect him to figure into our rotation much, and if we are expecting that…then we’re in a for a bad season. After Adrian played so well in the last game, shouldn’t we be getting more of a look at him to decide whether we want to use our 15th roster spot on him? That game could have been just a fluke, or he could have some real potential. We’ll never know if we limit him to 10 minutes. He needs some more time on the floor and most of it should come from Vladi’s 22 minutes. The only reason I can think to play Vladi is to make him seem like he has value to another team. I think his expiring contract holds more value than anything he can do on the court anyway, so we shouldn’t be wasting our time with him.

I can understand the minutes the starters are getting because we have two new starters and Biedrins coming back from a terrible (yes, injury plagued) season. We need to get them a good amount of time on the floor together.

Why didn’t B. Wright play?

Is Don Nelson going to Hawaii forever now?

Over the last decade, Vlad has averaged 23mpg, which is above average for all NBA players. When he’s been healthy, his coaches have usually played him. I’m not sure that this is always wise. There are certain things that a majority of coaches do that don’t make sense on actual analysis. But coaches have historically seen fit to play him. I wouldn’t at all be surprised if he does figure into the rotation as a 3 when other teams are going big.

Fast Start for VLAD

W’s want Vlad to get off to a fast start, with that expiring he could be attractive trade fodder. Esp if he’s averaging 8 and 8

by joegiant on Oct 13, 2010 2:08 AM PDT reply actions

Vlad is already an attractive trade piece as an expiring contract. He would have to play waaay better than he has in the last 4-5 years to be more valuable as an actual player.

Seems to me that the team is tired. They’ve still got to get their game legs under them. That would accout for some of the sloppy play.

Vlad + "fast" = oxymoron

He immediately slows the team down when he steps onto the court. He causes defensive breakdowns – for us – because he can’t stay with his guy and offers extremely weak help. His shooting remains atrocious. Reggie’s shooting was bad last night, no question, but in what sane universe do Miles, Rad, and Bell put up 19 combined shots while Reggie puts up 8? In what bizzaro mirror world do Curry, Ellis, dWright and Reggie combine to shoot 7 3’s – and Rad shoots 5 all by himself?

Anyone read the ESPN recap?
Evans was frustrated by Ellis’ defense in Sunday’s meeting between the teams and then again through 2½ quarters in the rematch. But Evans got untracked late in the third quarter, making two 3-pointers and scoring nine points to help the Kings take an 80-77 lead.

Amazing, Ellis was referred to for his DEFENSE.

He played very well on D I thought

I was surprised and commented on it during the game. Was it because he was going against Tyreke – and all the stuff that goes into that? I don’t know, but the comment was not overstated. In reverse, Tyreke played his best D on Curry, they caused each other a lot of trouble in ball handling as the high TOs for both show.

Great piece on Lee

Helps me back away from the ledge after a pre-season loss.
Seriously though, while I have yet to actually watch him play, Beans numbers do not reflect a guy who is supposed to return to his form from a few years back. He said he had a great off season and worked on his core to help him rebound more – still looking for the results.
Spots 1-4 looking good right now but if Beans can’t produce then we are in real trouble.

True...

but it is just preseason. I think Lee will take a HUGE load of Beidrin’s shoulders as the season progresses. Not sure how much run & gun they’ll be doing with Coach Smart but Beans is much more effective when they do.

I think it's good when a team has issues exposed in pre-season

Much better to address the problems soon than to think that everything is fine and then be surprised in the regular season when everybody’s game plans get serious and the rotations tighten.

BWright didn’t play, and Udoh, Amundson, and Carney aren’t available yet. I think we are a long way away from knowing how much more capable the Warriors are at responding to this kind of physical, disjointed, too many foul calls game.

by jakarta on Oct 13, 2010 9:25 AM PDT reply actions

Not if those issues exposed are that you have no bench

Outside of Williams, I’m sure who you guys will be able to depend on. It’s pre-season and hard to tell of course. The starting 1-4 looked pretty good, though I don’t think D Lee is in great regular season shape right now. He racked up two or three of those rebounds in the 5 minutes or so the Kings had Donte Greene trying to play PF.
Yes, a rookie pushed Biedrins around and did pretty much whatever he wanted. Cousins had a few crawl off the rim as well.

Preseason...

dissapointed with the loss and the effort. Then I realized the Warriors are 2-1 and Curry and Monta only played 20 minutes. The Warriors hung in till the 4th quarter. No one shot really well.

I think Brandon Wright is not doing well in practice. Under Don Nelson he would of been benched plus called out and ridiculed. Under Smart the only statement was him sitting on the bench and thats how it should be. He will get playing time this season. Not worried about his game as much as his confidence at this point.

I think the biggest missing piece so far is Biedrins. I imagine if he gets over 30 minutes a game with Curry he will get back to a double double machine, but for now he is not really impressing me on the court. But as a Warriors faithful I love the guy and hope he gets back in rhythm soon.

Hard to talk about a game that wasn't televised

However, after a 3 game sample I am still waiting for Beans to have a sort of “comeback” game, even though it’s preseason.

Really want to see what Carney and Amundson have got as well.

No Need to worry!!

i was there at the game, and the most important part was the end when the crowd gave Jeremy Lin an ovation every time he touched the ball, finally making a freethrow and the crowd going wild.

Bench players played mostly and it was a close game till 5min of the 4th. Warriors mostly fed it to D.Wright and he was garbage!! a little 5 "10 king took over the game, Jeter
