It's a simplistic question, but damn it was puzzling at the time, and even more puzzling now. What further makes this more of an issue is Keith Smart's ridiculous rotations, and that we didn't even attempt to find a solution. Why not send a conditional 2nd round pick to Portland for Patty Mills or someone! If we were to sign Lin, at least have Smart on board with the program to play him. We can't play Steph, Monta, and Reggie all 40+ minutes..
The resigning of CJ Watson would have made a lot of sense with advanced sabermetrics, and it made sense to those who don't appreciate those either. CJ's close to an average player. He got below average money...sign the dude, he can play.
Now on to the other glaring issue: Keith Smart
What is he doing out there? His rotations are baffling to say the least. I know it's preseason, but there's NO excuse for playing a player 53 minutes in a preseason game, and another 48+ minutes. EVER. We had two healthy ball handlers in Bell and Lin backing up Regg and Ellis, and it's preseason so it doesn't matter if they suck. You don't run players into the ground like he did.
He's had a love for Radman since he was subbing for Nellie during his illness. Played him 30-35 + minutes a night at least when he was coaching. Now he's back to his ways even with a couple decent bigs off the bench (Wright, Adrien)... Can Keith Smart evaluate talent? Not really so far.
Play Adrien. Does Keith even understand this kid's been beasting this preseason. I don't think he's a star, but when you have a guy playing like the best rebounder in the league, you have to find him some minutes, especially when you're pretty thin at the big position.
