If theres one thing to take away from this survey, it’s that NBA GM’s are really stupid.
Your political posts are a bit like the flu, Natty: they come around every few months, they suck, everyone wishes there were a cure, but all you can do is let them run their course. Carry on if you must — I’m staying home with my vitamin C and OJ. Ciao.- Sleepy Freud

I think Utah was the place that didnt have a direct airport to get to and you had to fly in somwhere else and take a bus to get there. That could be part of why they have the advantage.
not sure but that could be Portland
Pretty sure the Blazers still fly into Hillsboro.
"Once again i still dont get it. We have the best backcourt in the league. 1 of the best front courts in the West. A nice bench. What team in the west cant we compete with besides the Lakers? What team in the west u guys can look at and say damn they’re much better than us? Seriously? Not being a homer at all." ~ J-Ridah's Golden State Warriors analysis.

Just realized my comment makes no sense because that doesn't preclude the other team from flying into the Portland airport.

pretty sure that comment relates to Denver
Something about west coast games with the 2nd game of a back to back at Denver. With the time zone change, the hour drive into town, traveling east from a west coast game gets the players into their room around 4am.
Or in NBA parlance: “just about the normal bedtime…”

This fanshot reaks of an overreaction

Well considering they think Deron Williams is better than Chris Paul
and think Dirk is better than Duncan, that Lebron has no shot at MVP, and they’d rather start a franchise with Durant than Lebron or Dwight, this shows NBA gm’s really aren’t that bright. Dave Berri’s pointed it out, but most of them are basically fans who look at PPG, and get giddy about it.

Not sure I can fault GMs for saying they would prefer to start a franchise with Durant (remember, they could also be thinking about off the court headache stuff as well and Durant is pretty darn good).
That being said, I was actually referring to what seemed to be the point of this fanshot.

By the way
Dirk vs. Duncan
Lebron with 2 other studs no shot at MVP (even though we still have Chris Paul and Durant out there) who aren’t on stacked teams
Durant vs. Lebron vs. Dwight
Paul vs. Deron
I mean, look at all these issues. You claim they are all stupid but they are basically picking the difference between different elite players. So what if they pick one elite guy over another? A lot of it is just personal preference. So what? It’s not like anyone said Josh Childress is the best wing player in the league is it? It’s like complaining about someone picking a fighter jet over a stealth bomber.

I didn't even get into their Kobe idolatry
but pretty much these guys are paid to keep themselves informed and evaluate players, and just in this survey they made many (glaring) mistakes.

Oh please.
First, it’s a stupid poll, you really think the GMs care much about how they answer it?
You think it’s a “glaring mistake” to guess that Kobe or Durant or Dwight Howard will win the MVP? Remember, one GM can’t vote for all the others so you basically are arguing that it would be a “glaring mistake” not to vote for Lebron even though we all know, and so do the GMs, that often MVPs are not won by advanced stats but by points per game, team wins, and stuff like “just won two championships and his team is still winning.” The GMs aren’t saying Lebron isn’t the best player, they are guessing that he won’t win MVP probably because most assume Durant will keep his numbers up higher and win a lot of games. Apparantly one is making a ’glaring mistake" and “not really bright” if they notice this reality.
Personally, I think it’s more of a “glaring mistake” to paraphrase this poll as suggesting “Lebron has no shot at MVP” given that was not the question.
As for Deron, again it’s not a series poll and they were probably more concerned about general respect and just thought “well he played more games and was good last year.” Again, who cares. Plus, technically there is the simple truth that Chris Paul could possibly come off as a headahce of a player to deal with and trying to make trade demands in the offseason and that might (gasp!) be off putting to a GM. Either way, I don’t see how this is a “glaring mistake.”
As for Dirk, again apparantly not only are the 29% who voted for him making a “glaring mistake” on a random pull but we will just color in the 71% as making a “glaring mistake” as well. In fact they all should have studied advanced stats before answering and seen that Gasol is the best and all 100% should have voted for him over both Duncan and Dirk but then again they probably all don’t care too much about rating players in a top 10 list or best of the best or whatever. I am guessing more are just concerned about doing their day to day jobs.

One more quick thing about James vs. Durant with what franchise you would want to start, just to stress how silly this is
Durant (56 percent) was voted as the top player GMs would sign to start an NBA franchise.
The Heat’s James (68 percent) was named the best small forward.
Pretty sure they all don’t think of Durant as a PF. Perhaps with the “starting the franchise” nonsense they were just thinking of the guy who they could trust to be a part of the team long term and doesn’t have a massive media circus around him. Either way, again it’s just an official poll that has absolutely no meaning whatsoever.

Did you bother to go back and read the predictions from last season?
LeBron was the #1 pick for MVP and the franchise starter. Kevin Durant was #1 player predicted to have a breakout season.
They still made mistakes this year.

Yeah but it's fun to call other people stupid over trivial stuff

we would win best home court advantage
If we won our home games.

Definitely.
Can’t exactly have a great home-court advantage with a sub-.500 winning percentage at home.
It’s definitely Utah or Denver. The air there is just a pain in the ass for opposing players.
Is Don Nelson going to Hawaii forever now?
Utah also has brutal fans
They’re like if Phillie (Eagles, not Sixers) fans could get focused on the opposing team only.
I must look like a dork.
