Postgame Quotes and Stuff from warriors.com recap
Keith Smart
On tonight's game:
"If you look at the numbers we didn’t shoot the ball well. Open shots that we didn’t make…but those guys played well of the bench (Reggie Williams and Rodney Carney) and played aggressively. We just didn’t have the legs to make the shots that we needed to make, but hopefully we can get it back and get ready for the next game."
On Carmelo Anthony:
"Carmelo (Anthony) is just too good if you try and stay home on him. He has the ability to embarrass a guy because he’s just too good and he can make plays and knows how to make his free throws. He’s a tough cover and like I said in the pregame, he’s a star that’s a willing passer, he feels a double team and he’s going to move the ball to the open guy."
David Lee (Pre-Game)
On His Elbow Infection:
"It’s finally turned the corner. The infection is pretty much gone now. I hope to be back in the next week or so. I still have stitches to get taken out tomorrow, then I have an IV line I have to get taken out of my arm on Wednesday. It’s really doing a lot better. Now it’s a matter of having the wound heal. The fact that it could be limited to a two-week situation is a real blessing and our medical staff did a great job."
On When He Expects To Return: "My concern isn’t so much when I’m going to be ready to get on the court and play 40 minutes and get a double-double. I want to get back on the court and help the team. If that means the first two times out I’m playing 15 or 20 minutes and just able to do short stints, then that’s what ‘s important – getting back on the court and getting victories. At the same time, I have to check my competitiveness and realize it’s more important to get this thing completely (healed) than to rush back a day or two early. By the time we get back here for the San Antonio and Phoenix games, I hope to be near perfect and ready to go. The best case scenario would be rejoining them at the end of the road trip."
Dorell Wright
On Carmelo Anthony:
"He’s a great player. He’s an all star. You have to expect things like that from him. He really attacks the basket so you really have to play him half way. You can’t get too close on him because he will go past you and you can’t play off him or else he will shoot right over you. It's just one of those nights and you hope he has a bad night and contain whatever he does. He gets to the free throw line. He’s good at getting body contact."
Monta Ellis
On tonight's game:
"We just have to keep at it. The last two games have been rough for us. It’s the NBA. We have to move past that and stay together as a team. We have to move on. We were missing layups. The ball was going in and out. I didn’t have a great game. It will be like that some days. The only thing we can do now is stay focused and stay together."
